"The aliens came to clean up the trash"
I loved the first part so I don't know how the writer/director failed to end this series well in such a terrible way. Spoilers towards the end.The 7th episode starts off on a high note and a time jump. Our students are far better at killing the aliens and have developed good survival kills. This episode is a bit fun to watch after all the dread, fear and sadness of the first part. But we don't know why the students are living off base? Where did the other soldier in charge (Won Bin) go? None of it is explained.
Getting credits for their time served for the CSAT is what was keeping the students fighting and this is still a major discussion in part 2. What doesn't make sense is half the students still want to go home. It's not possible that their memory failed them of how they nearly died at their school and just barely made it out alive. Because why would you leave a place where there are less spheres and thus less danger? Especially since the first part also showed them how spheres were about to target a place where families were put up as a safe house. So it's very likely that that many of their families may have been attacked.
It also doesn't make sense that none of the adult soldiers are in the picture anymore. Why didn't they give them the opportunity instead to talk to their families over the radio? Or at least provide some kind of update. Missing them made them want to just run away even more. So as the series went on, it got more and more unbelievable.
At one point they have to deal with prisoners left behind. The biggest wonder is how did these people even survive without any water? They seemed to have a lot of energy despite being starved for days. No logic there. Only one of the prisoners talked sense on the condition of humans and humanity.
Themes of distrust are a major component in the final two episodes. Hiding the truth never ends well. And this is where the downfall of the show began. It's like the plot took a sudden detour and crashed into a wall. Details with spoilers below.
MAJOR SPOILERS NOW
- How was electricity running at the theme park for the rides but they couldn't heat their food? And all the food stored had gone bad?
- How does a scrawny kid having a psychotic break manage to tie up a body with rocks and drown it in the ocean? Where did he find ropes and a rock that heavy? The kids almost immediately ran there. How did they not catch him in the act and how was he not soaking wet?
- The main reason this show is a disaster is because they turned it into a sexual assault and school shooting episode rather than stick to the the main plot. All those "good guys with guns" lost their lives because of the "one bad guy" they didn't see coming. Would have been a great show but this is not why we were watching. They really did them all dirty with this plot move.
- And to add insult to injury, the aliens were all quickly destroyed soon after. No one talked to the students that they were even close to developing proper weapons which would have given them hope and a boost. And in the end, they didn't even get told if their points would matter. Plus, they made the exam extra hard.
- Honestly the ending was so bad that it would have been better if it were all a dream.
- A good alternate ending would have been that they find out he was the killer but then an alien actually comes and kills the psychotic student. And they kill the alien, mourn their loss and survive.
SPOILER FREE
The biggest plus points of this show are:
- The CGI is still wonderful
- The bonding between the students during their lighter moments
The only reason why I even gave this part any points.
For fans of the first part, this one will really leave a bad taste in your mouth so brace yourselves.
EXTRA CREDIT SCENE:
There is a scene/song at the end of the final episode. Almost missed it because I was so upset with the ending. You can be the judge of how you feel after this bit.

Complete waste of time
Although this review will have spoilers its better if you read this than watch the show since you won't be missing much anyways.I hated part 2 so much I decided to write my first ever MDL review. Although I watched the show a little while back seeing it as I was scrolling through my completed list filled me with unimaginable rage I had to come and write a review.
unlike some people, I really enjoyed part 1, it wasn't perfect but it was this fun story and I was really looking forward to the next part but it was a big mistake.
At times it felt like they got a whole new set of writers for this part of the show, there were so many things that I felt were being set up to be explored more in this part that were never mentioned and we were just supposed to accept that.
let's start off with the first weird choice, the second in command suddenly disappeared this season with 0 explanation. I don't understand why. All the writers had to do was give one of the kids a throw away line about how he's gone back to the army camp to let them know about the captains death and they lost contact with him at the very start when the kids were doing their little exposition dump of how much they've changed since part 1. That's all it took max 2 extra minutes of screen time, but they didn't say anything and we were just supposed to accept that. I spent a while being incredibly confused before just resigning myself to the fact that they were never going to give us an answer. That should have been red flag number 1 but I didn't listen and continued watching.
My next big problem was with the way they dealt with the aliens. First of all they made a very conscious effort in part one to show us how the aliens go dormant/die when exposed to the cold, and by that I mean long meaningful close-ups that are often reserved whenever a show wants to really hammer in a point or foreshadow something and so I really thought it would be a major plot point in this part, maybe they develop a weapon to do with the cold or maybe they go to a cold place and realise that they can be safe there or something but it's never brought up again and I'm left wondering why the show tried so hard to hammer the point home when they were never going to expand on it
But that random plot point aside, my bigger problem was the way the aliens were just thrown aside this season, relegated to the background since the writers thought that a bunch of teenagers voting on staying or leaving was much more riveting than the aliens. I was definitely at the edge of my seat watching them go round and round arguing over whether to leave camp. The aliens became background characters with no logic as to how they work, I thought they'd explore them a bit more this season but nope.
Speaking of the stupid debate the kids kept having, that was another problem with the show. I honestly felt the kids got more annoying this season, and I saw the whole plot of the vote rigging and who was rigging it coming from a mile away. The constant fighting it brought especially when it seemed to be that there was a side who was obviously in the right. I just wanted them to MOVE ON.
Now I was willing to excuse everything else, despite finding the kids more annoying this part, I still loved them and actually preferred their dynamic this season, (when they weren't fighting that is) they got closer and were funnier as well.
Now on to the absolute WORST part of this drama. The ending. they killed of all but 3 of the characters and ended it with exposition from the main character telling is that life just "went back to normal now" despite the aliens still being there. It felt like a massive slap in the face when I saw it. Honestly, the last 10-15 minutes of the show completely destroyed it. without it I would have gladly given the show a 6-6.5/10, but those last 10-15 minutes. I have no words. Now don't get me wrong I don't mind them killing off everybody that's not the problem it's the way they did it. See if they had these kids die off slowly throughout the show and THEN we were left with the 3 kids I wouldn't hate it, but it's the fact that all but one of the kids were killed during those final few minutes. I don't think ANY of the kids were killed due to the aliens which is baffling to say the least. If the writers wanted to make a 'war is pointless/causes unnecessary deaths' point there were 101 other ways to go a out it than this dumpsterfire of an ending. It would have been smarter to slowly kill the kids off during the course of the show to really demonstrate how brutal war is.
Moreover, they just had a student sexually assault a girl and then kill everyone because the CSAT's were cancelled? Really? That's the route they chose? Not like PTSD or something?? It just felt so stupid. I had to close my laptop and walk around for a while before I could go back to watching although I shouldn't have I should have just left it there. And then they end with the main character taking CSAT and just telling us that everything's fine now? We go through all of that and we don't get to SEE any of the progress made? It's just told.
The writing honestly went so downhill for this season I honestly regret even starting this show

SYNOPSIS with PERSPECTIVE of a HIGHSCHOOLER, empathize with them!
After binge watching the first part when it got released, I was so excited for the second part like most people! With a 1month timeskip we saw some character development directly from the beginning when our beloved highschoolers take on missions all by themselves. Without their adults, they quickly adjusted to the dark world and independetly acted in their ways. They showcased many moments of joy and friendship, even though life is hard and got even harder after they lost contact with the military.
So, when everything escalated with a stundets loss and the voting-trust issues, those supressed and pent up emotions were overflowing, since the world is depressing and someday they have to face the hard truth of being left alone. They waited and survived for 1month and after hearing that all their expectations about their CSAT went on vacation, all hope fainted in addition to their trust issues. The cohesion was taken down.
Then when they discovered the corpses of the science students, we all knew that this could particularly happen to our group of students. So their moral or will to fight was weaken even more.
Following the cheerful moments, it already felt like "the calm before the storm" and with the rising tension between yongseo and his inner conflict, the sort of either happy/sad ending was set.
You need to empathize with them! They are Highschoolers, teenagers which were thrown into the cold water so they had to adapt quickly. They have no adults to look up to neither hope insight or a strength group moral. We already saw somebody going mad in part I when another platoon was betrayed by its sergeant and the surviving members being suspicious about the our platoons adults. One student went crazy shooting the vice sergeant... so similar things could have happened with this platoon right?
When Yongseo went on his final rampage, things were pretty realistic (except the ammount of bullets he can shoot with just one mag lmao). A small and closed room with a mass of students and one assault rifle with bascially infinite ammo since it's a fictional series, a massacre was most likely to be expected. That's why I'm not even mad about the author hooping 95% of II parts cast. But, the fact that some survived the first wave of his rampage was even better! They tried to take him down after mag dumping, but also failed in shocked conditions. Unlucky and realistic because if u aren't crazy nor totally emotionaless and shocked u couldn't pull the trigger unless u either done it before or were prepared to do so.
I think many people couldn't handle the end since many ppl wrote "last ep destroyed everything" but let's be honest. What were the options for the stories end unless u read the manwha/webtoon (idk). Happy but boring end, tragic last stand against those alien creatures, in my opinion lame and too cruel. But the final blow throughout the stocked up emotions and students going crazy? In my opinion the best option they had for a dystopia teenage scenario. Teenagers can't handle their emotions :o

This literally isn’t that bad LOOOL
I’m assuming you have read all the negative reviews about this part but if you have watched part 1 it’s only right you finish this show. Sure it might not be what you’re expecting but it was still a highly entertaining watch for me. I enjoyed this part AND I enjoyed the ending … having said that could they have gone in depth about a few things ? of course (wonbins sudden disappearance, the aliens adaptions, what happened in the time jump.) but what was given wasn’t terrible at all and was good imo. It was quite clear at some point one of those kids would do something terrible and it was hinted it would be youngsoo for quite a while. From what I understand many of you just seem to hate the ending because you liked the kids and their friendship which doesn’t justify fully hating the ending since I liked the kids but also liked the ending. Had they given the ending which you all were expecting (spheres are killed by the kids themselves and everything goes back to normal) there would be 0 tradegy and would be extremely predictable and boring especially since there are many other shows of this genre (dystopian apocalypse). A happy ending just would not have suited this drama whatsoever so I’m glad they went for this route. It just seems this show was just cut short and they had to make do with what they had which I understand. This part isn’t half as bad as people are claiming and to put this on par with aouad (all of us are dead) is quite insulting to this series.Esta resenha foi útil para você?

Is writer mad or somthing?? Worst ending ever
What the hell.. is this alien story or just bullshit story about mad idiot...when part 1 they alredy killed so many kids without even giving them wepons.. and there r dumb parts like when they grab that key with hand like that, even so there haf story and it is actually cool.. even i am not cried or scared i loved that story.. and this is the first ever drama thay i waited without patience for 2nd part.. but what the hell, only 1st episode aliens arrived then only few, then here comes prisonrs and then tht idiot go crazy...
Is writer go crazy or did he forget about story line. Why the hell they all should die.. its actully ok if they died becoz of aliens.. but no hell.............. worst ending ever.. this is not humans fight this is aliens story..
And 2nd part, story line is suck i think it would be more better if they end it in ep 6. There r no news about parent and there r still balls left and theire only kimchi write exm hell dude hell... and when some scenes come to end it is not ending cool way becoz next part started from other different sscene. Is writer drunk...??? i am so angry right now ??
As for actors no need to argue they are best every character did thire part superbly except writer ?
And most funny part is i waited somthing happend and at last moment of lee n then he will come back... that what i hope but look at what we got not only lee but also won bin disappeared and all kids just dead.. poor us
(I write this again (edited riview) this part after thinking - When I was wondering why this happened to a story that had so many ratings, what I thought was that we were watching the story in the wrong corner.... We watched this with expecting a feeling like All of us are dead, but that's when we thought that we missed one of the most important points of the story. We watched the story based on the alien spheres. But the kids in story were not thinking it that way. For those children, whether they have the spheres or not, it doesn't matter to them whether the world is destroyed or not. Wanted to face the exam called CSAT. Those children went to military service because of CSAT, when their friends died one by one, when their parents didn't know whether they were alive or not, even when the lieutenant who was their bodyguard died, but those children did not want to leave this mission because of CSAT, if you look closely, all of them died at the last moment. That also becoz of CSAT That's why.... If you look at the story on the basis of CSAT, thinking that the spheres is actually a just in your mind , the the beginning, middle, and end are balanced....
In my opinion, the main purpose of the story is to tell how badly a competitive exam affects a child's mind... Even if it is not scary things like duty after school, even when we are doing competitive exams, when the exam is near, the books of the class top are lost. They have been working as if the admission is disappearing. As far as I know, such things are still happening today... If you look at it like that, there is a similarity between going after the competitive exams by trampling even the closest friend and the things that happened in Duty after school....
But overall i dont agree with writer becoz this is survival drama about aliens. Itz not survival drama about school kidsor somthing

Are y'all insane?!? This is the best drama I've seen in ages!
Now, I expected just another All Of Us Are Dead but with aliens, and i never been happier i was wrong! This is not just an action shooter rpg gamelike eliminating monsters. This really is about war. Any war. And it doesn't matter who you fight against in it, it's always the same - crushing people's lives and minds and bringing death everywhere. No rules of an ordinary life work at war, and the show shows it in the best way possible.?️I either was a bit confused by switching the setting in the second part. How could the kids be abandoned by all their commanders? 말도 안 돼. But once you forget about it everything starts to feel even more horrifying. The truth is, you are always by yourself, and having and maintaining friendship in such situation is incredibly hard. And we see that in the drama. I was shocked by how agonizing, wistful and painful the drama is. It's better than Saving Private Ryan indeed. Because I can associate myself with those highschoolers.
The sttudents are portrayed perfectly. They learn to cooperate, grieve and think like adults yet they are still playful and full of dreams. The conditions of the war itself are crystal clear. It's not an offensive but a defensive war. So you can easily imagine moral choices one has to made in it.
?️The intro gives me shivers every time. It's tragic, and wistful, and horrifying in a very subtle way with characters shown as columns in an album, with only a memory of their past presence left. Kids turning into soldiers, carrying arms instead of future. And you think one guy going mad is stupid? There are real cases in the army of such "accidents", and what lead to them, both the environment and the mental state, are explored here.
?️This drama is much harsher than any drama I've ever seen. Much better written as well. Isn't that what always happens at wars? There are so many of them happening right now, look around! Ukraine is right on the edge of Europe. Seeing kids in full military uniform having fun with guns lying around is not a TV show for some people. The atmosphere of this drama is absolutely unique. I feel like this is something I saw in a dream that I forgot right away waking up.
Masterpiece.
"Why did grown ups give us guns? They had to keep us from getting them."

Don't watch the second part as it will destroy all your good memories with the first part!!
Okay first of all I love the first part, I was eagerly waiting for this one and it just totally disappointed me. It seems like the main writer wrote the first part, then he become sick and asked his pet to complete the second part as I don't think a person can write this much shits in one show. The vibe of two parts are completely different and second part is awful. The ending is bad. Really bad and I will talk about it later, lets talk about other than the ending part first. So first we can see that the gang are doing their duty, they became pro in shooting and they finally become a team and doing great in killing spheres. They have a good shelter, a good amount of ammunition and food to survive. Everything seems fine. Right? To us but not to them. Maximum of them want to go back seoul to their home, because to them that place is safer. But in first part we got to know that in seoul there are more sphere, their patents went to shelter, so none's in their home! So why do they want to go back?? Just to get killed by sphere? May be. But after seeing so much things in front their eyes, after losing so many people how could they be this much childish? How?
Then a girl called Ha Na was telling lie to stay at their shelter and everyone was accepting that! that girl did not even guard the shelter properly, rather just did nothing, so my question is where is her consciousness? Is it even possible for a person who saw her classmates and platoon commander died while saving her to just do nothing and stay only at the shelter?? Really??
Dead of sung chool!! Sphere came and killed him! The sphere detectors were not well developed so it could not be able to detect the sphere, so it came and killed him, understandable. But then they just went back without attacking others! Why? Are sphere that much civilized! Or they kill one person at a time!! Others talked, moved even shouted in the same building, but the sphere did not attack them! LoL!
Na Ae Chol! OMG! She opened the prison without other's opinion despite knowing there are some deadly prisoners there! Okay! Humanity! But none even said a word to her! Like really! She disobeyed the team's decision and put everyone's life in danger, still she did not seem sorry or none told her a single thing! Huh! Everyone is just so great. But my question is not that. My question is the writer had only 4 episodes to complete the whole story. Does it really necessary to include this criminal angle? What does this angle mean to us? Nothing! This whole angle was for nothing but time wasting, boring and poorly written plot.
I even dont convinced with lie angle! It was also unnecessary . But as those babies love to stay at home, so they got angry with the clever ones and proved their dumbness. Understandable!
Now time for the mighty ending. Its bad! Its real bad. I am feeling sad, angry even disgusted after watching this. Just one thing i will say if I ever tell you to see duty after school, please forgive me for my ignorance. Dont waste your time and be happy.. I wish it was all Kimchi's dream. It would make more senses then this wedding.
I have ranted a lot in this review. This one is less of a review and more of my ranting session. Sorry for that. But i just cant sleep without writing all these. I am sure none will read this but if you do thank you.
Acting and background music were never the strong fort for this cast in this drama, story was. But as in this part, the story ruined everything so its useless to talk about acting and music.
Lastly, i am not trying to find plotholes or logic in fantasy drama. I am just trying to find the story which is necessary for making any drama.
Thank you.
PS: the pet completely forgot that, they had an ajhusshi who stayed with them in first season. So he could not even give him a closure or an endind in part 2.

The last scene was just a lil too fake with chaos!
Wait! It was very obvious that there were many of them who are fast and good in shooting! But what's wrong? Why make it too fake in the end? It was just chaos. They can kill and shoot the fast and speed and strong spheres but not the weak and nerd and slow annoying guy. It was better if the guy just woke from dream and make it end. The last scene was fake and like a kid made drama. Just a playground. The guns were on their hand but was just waiting for the guns to shoot them. Ruins the mood and all.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Watch this drama Till 9th ep...
Honesty saying please do not watch the 10th episode.....the drama is very good till 9th ep but 10th ep ruined everything....I am regretting watching the last ep....there couldn't be any worse ending than this.....If you wanna watch 10th episode watch it on your own risk...
After reading few comments I realized the webtoon version is Good...so it's better to read the webtoon instead of watching the 2nd season.
After watching first season I was eagerly waiting for the 2nd season and was curious about what will happen... if there will be a happy ending? or who will survive? etc.....But Now I regret watching 2nd season

part 1 was better
I stumbled across this drama on YouTube a few days ago and decided to watch it.I finished watching part1 in two days. The story line was great the actors and actress were overall 10 out of 10 for me.Then comes part2 I was so excited to continue this series and after finding out I only had to wait two days was great.however I was truly disappointed in part 2. really don't know they decided to end the drama in this manner its like they didn't even put an effort in the ending of the story. There was closure no answer to any of my questions.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
If TRASH is personified, I know it's this one.
Honestly, i could write a list of headlines to describe this work but it's not even worth the energy.DO NOT WATCH.
(Or do but be prepared for the disappointment)
Can you guess where it belongs? A GARBAGE BIN because it's a pile of ABSOLUTE RUBBISH.
I didnt read the webtoon but maybe it's better written there even with the same narrative? i dont know...
This 2nd season has no relation whatsoever to the first. If this was supposed to show me how the classmates have become a true one unit highly dependant on each other, cooperative, considerate, then it's done so really badly. The pace is unbelievably slow with noooo real progress in the depth of their connections. Suddenly people are a couple and there's a love triangle like what? What situations led up to this in the first place? We definitely do not get to see that. The villian at the end? No true long time build up; it just escalated like that out of the blue because the writers forgot there's got to be evil to get a closure.
The post-credits scene was unnecessary and should have been in the first season. The addition would have been great as a comedy relief and as a nostalgic tribute. After the ending of season 2, it's almost pointless to see.
I like to believe, as many others I'm sure, that the true ending of the series is either episode 6 of season 1, or the pre-credits scene.
I gave points solely to honour the idea that on our Earth there's something much more worse than human-eating aliens, and for highlighting the pressures of being a high schooler in Korea (albeit extremely dramatic really). But story wise, direction wise, acting, everything was terribly executed. There's even an episode or two that are entirely useless..
P.S. If you really want to watch it, do so at 1.5x and save yourself some time instead to use on a better written work.

Who are the real monsters really?
Ok, I get the bad reviews. Really, I do. BUT!!! On a deeper level, this drama (and especially the ending) is genius level and to be fair, has been building up since the previous season. Ever since the CSAT's were cancelled, we have seen this guy spiral. The madness in his eyes grew ever larger and his paranoia was truly outrageous. I was surprised nobody noticed or looked after him. Goes to show how much of an outcast he really was. The focus from the monsters in/from the sky (who were sort of manageable in the end) shifted to the monster on the ground. When you think of the fact that these monsters are very real and appear just about daily, should we not actually focus on this irl? I'm not saying that the drama is a social complaint piece, but I do feel this is what is supposed to be the message: Monsters Are Real, They Are Everywhere, They Are Human.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
