I needed this type of drama atm. No romantic nonsense.
I absolutely needed drama like this, one where they actually focus on the cinematography! The directing is amazing. The editing and use of saturated colours is gorgeous. Every shot is well thought out. Visually everything about this was an amazing experience. And for the story: I was wondering when they would make more dramas with very dark themes! Most "dark" kdramas are so mild and plain in comparison to dark western drams, but this one is right up there with the western ones on the darkness scale. While the story started off very slow, it makes sense by the end why they did that. It was to put the watcher in certain mood before shit hits the fan.
As for the cast and acting: 10/10 nothing to be said really. Go Minsi was actually able to play psycho while not acting like a stone or having overly obnoxious facial expressions.
Overall, If you like visually pleasing dramas with a certain eerie darkness to them WATCH THIS.
If you are very squeamish and hate blood/gore/dead bodies, do not watch. If you are a romance drama fan wanting for a handsome oppa to pop out, do not watch.

Garbage of the year
Albeit strong acting from its casts and good cinematography, this drama is pure garbage which very lacks of common sense. Here we have two stories which somehow will connect. One story happened in the past, and one in the present, and both related to murders. Story that happened in the past is good with no weakness in plot. Story in the present however, is so bad it only focuses on the thriller part and forgetting all the common senses. A woman guest arrived at a man's rental house with her kid. After she's gone, the man suspected her killing her kid. One day, the woman returned. Now things went south. She bought lots of plants and placed them in the house, and painted the outside walls. The man played cool. He confronted her about the murder he suspected, but she drugged him. She took his family pic and drew a circle on his daughter indicating she threatened him. He took the recording he has to the police, but she rammed her car into his, trying to kill him. He returned home and played cool. The girl said she wanted the house. At this point i was so amazed of the illogical storyline that i almost stopped watching. Is he weak, or stupid, or idiot, or something unexplainable? One time i almost thought the man suffered from multiple identity disorder & that was just his imagination. Well, there it is the drama which you put high rating but actually doesn't deserve it.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
what matter's is the story not the roles..............
The Frog is a captivating and delightfully macabre K-drama that recently premiered on Netflix. This series masterfully blends psychological horror with a chilling thriller, creating a unique viewing experience. The story revolves around two parallel narratives set twenty years apart. In 2001, a motel owner, Gu Sang-jun, encounters a mysterious guest who turns out to be a serial killer. Fast forward to 2021, Jeon Young-ha, who runs a rural holiday rental, faces a similar eerie situation when a woman and child disappear from his property, leaving behind a trail of suspicion. These two timelines are intricately connected by a detective, Yoon Bo-min, who is determined to uncover the truth12.
The series stands out for its cinematic visuals and artful direction. The contrasting settings—dreamy, romantic scenes juxtaposed with bleak, grim environments—enhance the show’s eerie atmosphere. The performances by Kim Yoon-seok and Go Min-si are particularly noteworthy, with their characters’ intense dynamic driving much of the show’s tension1.
While some critics have noted that the series borrows elements from Western serial killer thrillers, it still manages to carve out its own identity with its unique storytelling and character development

"The Frog" is a hauntingly atmospheric Korean drama that weaves together a tale of mystery, loss, and the eerie passage of time. Set in the present day and the early 2000s, the series skillfully intertwines two timelines, drawing viewers into the enigmatic events surrounding a secluded vacation cottage deep in the woods. One of the strengths of "The Frog" lies in its ability to maintain a chilling atmosphere throughout the series. The setting of the vacation cottage, isolated in the woods, is the perfect backdrop for a mystery that spans two decades. The cinematography beautifully captures the eerie, almost otherworldly quality of the place, making it feel like a character in its own right. The sound design, too, is impeccable, with every creak of the floorboards and rustle of leaves heightening the sense of unease.
The performances in "The Frog" are commendable, particularly those of the leads. Jeon Youn Ha is portrayed with a quiet intensity, his peaceful demeanor hiding a deep well of emotions. Yoo Sung A, on the other hand, exudes an air of mystery and sadness, her character's motives remaining unclear until the very end. Yoon Bo Min's character is a refreshing addition, bringing a sense of determination and resilience to the story.
However, "The Frog" is not without its flaws. The pacing can be slow at times, with certain episodes feeling drawn out as the plot unfolds. While the slow-burn approach adds to the suspense, it may test the patience of some viewers who prefer a faster pace. Additionally, the dual timeline structure, while effective in building tension, can be confusing if not followed closely.
Last but not least, the cast did amazing. I had only dive into this because of Go Min Si but I ended up adoring all the MC specifically RYS character as JES. She was badass. And I also really enjoyed PCY character as Gi Ho.

The Frog: Slow, Dull and Confusing
I had high hopes for this little drama of just 8 episodes. It listed a superb cast. I was excited. Well, what a let down. This drama was painfully slow and dull. Only bits and pieces grab one's attention; the rest is a snooze fest. The story was really just a mishmash of two separate time-frames, and the connection was weak. And finally, the two main female cast members were, you could say, very frugally used. Some of the supporting actors had more screen time than the two main female characters. For example, in at least one episode, Go Min Si has less than one minute of screen time, and she is the female lead! Overall boring with a scene here and there that grabs you. I say not worth the watch, and certainly not a re-watch.Esta resenha foi útil para você?

BEST THRILLER WITH « YOUR HONOR » in summer 2024 for me !
AT FIRST GLANCE, THE TRAILER PROVED PROMISING, BUT I AM ALWAYS ON MY GUARD AGAINST THIS TYPE OF PROMISE. OFTEN, ONCE IMMERSED IN THE STORY, EXPECTATIONS COLLAPSE, FAILING TO MATCH THE ENTHUSIASM AROUSED BY THE TRAILER. YET, HERE, REALITY EXCEEDED MY CRAZIEST EXPECTATIONS.AFTER BEING INTRODUCED TO THE OWNERS OF BOTH ERAS, WE QUICKLY ENTER A HOT SCHOOL ATMOSPHERE, WHERE A PROVOCATIVE AND ENIGMATIC "GO MIN SI" EVOLVES. THE PLOT IS REVEALED WITHOUT DELAY, AND IT BECOMES OBVIOUS THAT SHE IS NOT THERE TO HAVE FUN WITH MEN, BUT RATHER TO FREE HER TORTUOUS SPIRIT. IT IS AN UNJUSTIFIED EXPRESSION, A PSYCHOLOGICAL FACET OF ITSELF THAT REACHES PEAKS OF PARADOX. SHE PAINTS, STRUTS IN A LUXURY CAR, LIKE A SPOILED HEIRESS, WHILE POORLY HIDING HER BLOODTY NATURE.
THE HEAVY ATMOSPHERE, THE AMBIENT SOUNDS, THIS ALMOST LOCK-UP INSIDE THE SUMPTUOUS HOTEL OF MODERN TIMES, AND THESE STRIKING METAPHORS ON FROGS THAT HAVE NOT ASKED FOR ANYTHING, ALL THIS ENCOURAGES REFLECTION. WHY COULD SUCH HORRORS FALL ON US, WHEN WE HAVE NOT REQUESTED ANYTHING? BY A WHIM OF KARMA? BY AN EXCESS OF BENEVOLENCE? OR SIMPLY FOR CLOSING YOUR EYES AT THE WRONG TIME?
KIM YOON SEOK HAS DONE A REMARKABLE JOB ALONGSIDE GO MIN SI. TOGETHER, THEY WERE ABLE, THROUGH THEIR CHARACTERS, TO ESTABLISH A CLIMATE OF HATRED MIXED WITH COMPLICITY, DESTINED FOR THE WORST. THE PALPABLE TENSION BETWEEN THEM, AS WELL AS THE MOMENTS OF ACTION, WERE OF SUCH AN IMMERSIVE INTENSITY THAT I FOUND MYSELF, CAPTIVE, WONDERING WHO WOULD WIN UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. THE FIRST OWNER DID NOT MARK ME, BUT THE YOUNG SNIPER IN SEARCH OF REVENGE WOULD HAVE DESERVED A GREATER PLACE ON THE SCREEN.
OVERALL, I WAS CONQUERED BY THIS THRILLER, WHICH WAS ABLE TO AVOID SLOWNESS, OR AT LEAST, IT PROVED RELEVANT. ONE OF THE STRENGTHS UNDENIABLY LIES IN THE INTERPRETATION OF GO MIN SI, WHOSE SCENIC EXPRESSIONS ARE OF STRIKING DEPTH. HOWEVER, I CANNOT HELP BUT POINT OUT A SLIGHT DOWNSIDE: THE MOTIVATIONS OF HIS CHARACTER REMAIN OBSCURE, AND HIS ACTIONS, IN A CERTAIN WAY, ESCAPE ANY FORM OF PUNISHMENT.
I WARMLY RECOMMEND THIS KDRAMA!
19/20

Boring!!!
It was actually so hard to finish this series bcs I was so bored. I'm actually surprised that it has such a high rating! the only good things about this series were the cinematography and atings. the cast is so good but the plot didn't make any justice. I was about to drop it but I still manged to finish it just to have no plot twist and a not thrilling ending! it waw disappointing considering how much expectation I had for this series. the music was not bad but it didn't really help to make it less boring.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Ultimately the plot is a pile of rubbish.
I really wanted to like this limited series on Netflix, I really do. It promised a korean thriller and started off looking really good, both production quality and the cinematography. But episode 4 onwards the plot is so damn nonsensical I knew I wouldn't be looking anything higher than a 2/10 for this particular series.First of all, the present MC makes the most bloody nonsensical and stupid decisions ever, and continues making them for 80% of the series.
Second of all, the plot develops in a way that is so unrealistic I'm almost sure the writers are trying to tilt the viewers on purpose.
The only 2 reason to watch this pile of whatever it is? The cinematography is really quite good, the vacation home is absolutely gorgeous. The 2nd reason? Go Min Si is absolutely STUNNING in here, and if I were to put aside the ridiclous storyline that is happening in the background? She really can act as a psycho.

Don’t waste your time
Aside from the actors’ excellent acting, this show gives nothing. Everything else is a cheap and pretentious copy of other great shows. It’s a waste of producer’s money, actor’s talent, and the viewer’s time. They could’ve turned this into a movie, and that would’ve made it a bit decent.Esta resenha foi útil para você?

Stupid
The music, acting, production is all good, but it’s super stupid until the end the man still decide not to tell anyone about there’s a murderer in his house, leading to people he cares in danger. Don’t watch this drama with your brain… see how fast the police could take care of the situation once they found out ??The past story about the previous motel was really touching tho.

So many dumb story
This show must ended in episode 2 . After episode 2 the writer kinda took the wrong pill for the script." You want get rid of her without reveal the murder she did? " Eazy peazy. Report her as squatter.
The police officer even help her after saw her hit the mc with big ass suv in the front police station. This is how korean police officer work?
But the acting and scenery shoot in this drama is quite good.

first disappointing korean thriller.
i think it tried to be something deep but couldn’t? maybe i couldn’t see the vision. i HATED the psychopath and since her backstory isn’t well-developed i couldn't even understand her psyche. she is just evil, no excuses. we don’t know whether she was actually abused, we don’t know why she is so bent on trying to grab other peoples' properties. the only explanation can be that she is a silver spoon princess and wanted to carve a niche for herself for which she had no talent. i didn’t like yeongha much either. my fav character will be ui-seon, girl acted well and did all she could. the cinematography and the set are really pretty and the production is cool. i think it’s the visual aspect where the series gains points because the story/stories are weak. chanyeol’s acting wasn’t impressive but it was okayish. all in all, slightly disappointed as a korean thriller watcher.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
