Ending anxiety
The series is all about realistic struggles and choices. Rosie grew up in the Q1 of the series especially with Guo Dong but her choice marrying xie wen was really uncalled for. They didn't marry out of love, her daughter was the only good thing from their time together, their time really brought down the momentum of the story.
The last episode should come o ??, but I really want her end up with Guo Dong again.
He loved her and I hope he still do, he's selfish, cautious, too realistic and I hope he adjust.
Not being with a man is not scary or lonely but I want Rosie/Yi Mei to find a stable support and comfort (I want that man to be Guo Dong).
Please remove Guo Dong from guest role??? and add him to main role!

Why From A Woman's PIV?
It actually makes all the males seem petty and old fashioned except Rose's dad. As I suddenly realized this, I felt sure the author was a woman. Yep, it is so. I love the story, but now I am even mad at Rose's brother. Rose's husband's mother was also written from a DIL POV. I think if the author had stepped back some, the story could have been stellar. I still have 14 episodes to go, and I am praying it quits being so one-sided. The early 2000's did not have the same male chauvinism as it did in the 1960's to 1970's. Surely China is not 20 to 40 years behind the times on women's roles in the family or their value to a family. But in any case, I love this drama and will gladly finish watching the 40 episodes.Added note: Lin Geng Xin is one of my faves. He is so convincing as a MCP that if he didn't have Shen Li drama under his belt, I would never watch him again. LOL, he is a great actor.

The Rose ... wilted ...
[I respect other reviewers and their individual choices. There are plenty of dramas out there to suit every taste. Direct your support or lack of to the drama itself. If you support this drama, good for you and please continue to. Please write your own good reviews. If you do not support this drama, please also write your own review. We are reviewers. Not personal attackers. We review. We do not attack. Reserve your opinions for your reviews and not for the reviewer who is responding to the drama itself and not to other external aspects. I am responding to this drama that I have watched and I am not personally attacking any actor or actress in real life. It is all based on this particular drama only/ this particular reel life only. I do not hate on any actor or actress.]Having watched the gorgeous LYF in other wonderful dramas like "Dream of Splendor" and "Meet Yourself", I was looking forward to watching "The Story of Rose".
I found the first few episodes fun and entertaining. LYF was lovely.
However, how she destroyed her boyfriend's home was, to me, unreasonable and "cray-cray". I felt that her actions were uncalled for. Yes, I can empathise with her emotions then but they could have behaved more sensibly and maturely. They could have communicated more calmly and in a better manner.
Thereafter, I felt torn between continuing and not continuing...
In the end, I decided to drop it and watch something else. I know that the actors and actresses in this drama are fine ones and I am pretty sure the show is, in general, all right... but episodes 8 to 10 (there-ish) were "the straw that broke the camel's back".

Not quite that for me
I dropped off. I love LYF a lot, but I didn’t find the storyline engaging. After 10 episodes I didn’t connect with a single character, and couldn’t care less about them. They all are played very well, so the issue for me was the writing. FL character doesn’t really develop much, and I couldn’t find everyone’s enticement with her beauty believable. The cinematography, music and actors work are superb though.
