Immortal Samsara: Part 2 (2022)

Honestly I think Part 2 is better than Part 1.

I enjoyed watching it and don't mind with the ending. I think it is a good ending. Maybe some people cannot accept it. Episodes 58-59 is very good. It is quite different from other Xianxia drama. I like it here when the conflict is more towards to return the peace to the 3 realms and the ML and FL already reconciled and fight together with evil people. "Because the 3 realms are here, you are here". It may sound cliche but it holds a big meaning for YingYuan. I've watched several Xianxia where the ML priority is always the FL without other reason, I can see here YY really want to restore the peace in the 3 realms and that is how his lover also will be protected.

I watched Part 1. The first part in the Heavenly Realm is so fast pace and the story is moving really good. But then it started to get slower in the Mortal World. Actually it is understandable because every character that need to be introduced played part to move the storyline especially to discover Ying Yuan artifacts. I found some parts are boring in Mortal World but when the episoded are good I can rewatched it many times.

For Part 2, everything seems to be put in placed. I can feel that they achieved everything that need to be done in Mortal World. Finding Dhizi, Ying Yuan returned to his place, both Ying Yuan and YanDan character developments. I totally love this matured character development. They finally learned how to understand each other. Understand each other responsibilty. The highlight is of course XuanYe. I have never seen this kind of character before in Xianxia drama (for me). XuanYe is an evil but he got his own charisma and dignity. Want to have everything, the world and the woman. I cannot totally hate this man because he loves Ranqing deeply and willing to reverse times for countless times to be with her. Part 2 moving in good pace from solving the mystery of Immortal-Demon War to finding the culprit and the Puppet's spell.

Nothing to say about the cast. ChengYi and YangZi played their part very well. I am still amazed with when YingYuan turned into devil and choked YanDan. YY totally lost his good in himself. ChengYi's acting is very good. When YY and YD cried together, I feel sad for them. I still feel sad when YD rejected TZ on the rooftop, and they both cried. ChengYi played three roles, and he excelled in doing it. Same goes with YangZi, I'm amazed with her character changes after she learned TZ is YY. She went from this innocent to this strong and matured girl.

It Is Better To Have Loved And Lost Than To Never Have Loved At All

If I had to use one word to describe Immortal Samsara, it would be 'healing'. There is so much of it in this epic drama that I have used Alfred Tennyson's famous lines as the heading not because I believe that the pain of lost love is better than not having loved at all but because IS has proven, yet again, how love can be a catalyst for self-reflection and finding peace within yourself. I enjoyed the journey that all the characters took me on and although I was riveted by all of them, the character of Ying Yuan stands out the most for me. He was born with the heavy burden of being the only offspring of a forbidden union that was based on lies and treachery and, grew up being told he needed to prove himself to be better than his parentage. He was also forbidden from expressing his true feelings and as a result, through his actions, ended up hurting the one person who saw through his facade of stoicism into his feelings of intense loneliness, isolation and heavy sense of misplaced responsibility. How he redeems himself and finds his truth is a beautiful journey. I have developed so much love and respect for Ying Yuan that he will go down as one of my most favorite fictional characters ever. He was in turn a catalyst for eliciting change in most of the other characters he interacted with and how his inherently kind and compassionate nature and actions had affected them is both heart-warming and heart-wrenching.

I have to give all the well-deserved credit to Cheng Yi for bringing so much life to Ying Yuan as without his portrayal, Ying Yuan could have come across as the stereotypical cold, wooden, one-dimensional character who puts duty over everything else. However, the subtle and overt nuances that Ying Yuan had within were so well done by Cheng Yi that I yearn to meet someone like Ying Yuan in real life. And of course, providing the perfect balance is Yang Zi as his partner in crime and love :)

Am I completely satisfied by how the drama played out on screen? The answer to that would be a no. There were scenes that could have been done better, characters that could have been avoided/given less screen time, make-up that could have been less jarring but honestly, none of that took away from the overall effect this drama has on me. If you, like me, want stories that go beyond the superficial and into qualities that make humans (and what are divine and other beings if not humans with a little bit of magic) inherently flawed, you'll enjoy this as much as I did. I am really glad I watched it as it aired and, along with some of the commentators on this page who came on this journey with me, for which I shall remain eternally grateful.

Would I watch this again? Yes. And, I am pretty sure I will find something new each time I do as I believe that what we take away from a creative piece of work (books, songs, dramas, movie, etc) depends on who we are at the time we discover them.

Heartbreakingly Beautiful

Immortal Samsara as a whole is heartbreakingly beautiful. The sacrifices both leads had to do not just for each other but for the whole realm is just pure torture to watch. Yang Zi and Cheng Yi did such marvelous jobs giving life to their characters that it's truly hard to watch them suffer. It took me days to recover from this drama. It's that good and remarkable. Plus, the chemistry of having Yang Zi and Cheng Yi in one frame is just pure fire.

The story from the very start was already giving Ashes of Love vibe, but, the way I see it, the scenes here give more pain. This drama didn't have as much romantic scenes as I would've liked, but the ones they give are just enough for me to repeat it nonstop. Plus, the growth of all the leads is a journey that's amazing to witness. They were able to portray growth and at the same time still give humorous scenes.

Overall, an amazing drama to watch and rewatch. Bingeable? Totally! Heartbreaking? Without a doubt!

Some Fates Can't be Avoided.

"You said agarwood is like ashes, the flame is faint. But in the incense burner, there's still warmth between us. I came to ask you, if the agarwood wasn't eliminated...could we go back to the past?"

Immortal Samsara also known as "Agarwood like Crumbs" (沉香如屑) by Su Mo is a novel adaptation drama that was one of the most anticipated dramas this year. Starring Yang Zi from "Ashes of Love", and Cheng Yi "Love and Redemption" this drama quickly became one of the most awaited dramas.

This drama quickly took a sharp turn in all directions. The story, plot, characters, costume, and cinematography is amazing! This drama contains two parts and focuses mainly on the leads Yingyuan and Yan Dan in the heavenly and mortal world and their love story. Part 1 focuses on them both in the heavenly realm. It focuses mostly on the hardships and profound love they have for each other but they have difficulties and obstacles they have to overcome. Part 2 on the other hand, focuses on them both in the mortal realm, as their mortals Tang Zhou (Yingyuan) and Yan Dan as fate brings them together again in the mortal world. But they must overcome the strict rules and teachings of the Heavenly Realm as they conquer and overcome the hardships of their forbidden love.

Let me just say, Yang Zi and Cheng Yi did an amazing job. They showcased their emotions incredibly. They captivated us with their angst, sadness, and regret. This drama is an amazing showcase of forbidden love and trials they overcome to be together. Not only that but the music is beautiful too, it blends well with the drama especially at the sad scenes. Yang Zi and Cheng Yi don't disappoint! Both of them are amazing at these types of costume dramas filled with angst, sadness, and forbidden love. You won't regret when you watch it!

Disappointing Epic

This XianXia tries to showcase a lot of things that people love in XianXias- epic love, powerful immortals, warm mortals, evil demons and so on. It also has a familiar storyline spanning multiple lifetimes and therefore multiple story arcs. Perhaps the most promising thing about this drama was the star cast including Cheng Yi and Yang Zi, who have been superstars in this genre. Unfortunately, despite the stellar cast, who indeed brought their A game, the drama failed to become a compelling watch.

What this drama lacked was a convincing plot that would involve the characters and build an emotional connection with the viewers. Although I watched all 59 episodes, mostly motivated by Cheng Yi's tears, I can hardly remember the story this drama tried to tell. My favourite moments in the show were definitely in the mortal realm where the characters get more breathing space and their interactions are warm and entertaining.

The last arc turned out to be most disappointing with a completely new storyline to be followed once the characters are back in the Heavenly Realm. Since it was essentially an entirely new plot line, It was difficult to care about the conflicts and the newly introduced villains. Moments between the leads to sweeten the deal were few and far in between. The entirely unsatisfying ending sealed the drama’s position as a disappointing epic.

best xianxia ever"IN ADULT"

I'm very sorry for those who will ignore this drama due to inappropriate and low rating

It ended up being the best xianxia I've ever seen. I don't know why everyone compared this drama to LAR and AOL, but I never thought for a moment that there is any similarity or connection between these three. I don't know if I'm the only one who saw the best characters in the whole movie world?? in the form YY , YD YM .
YY - a character who sacrificed everything to protect the world, even his love. For some reason, everyone wants to see how the characters sacrifice everything for love, but to be honest, I could never understand such behavior. This is the whole world and what will the common people expect?? Simple families? Lovers or children?? Even the heavenly world or demons ?? Let's sacrifice everything for love?? would you do that .
In the world of Xianxia, ​​YY is currently the most well-developed character, he understood his responsibility to the world. His love encompassed everything.And YD is the best female character. I was impressed by her decision and behavior. There was no misunderstanding between them, our smart girl just understood that her love protected the world. It was a need, it was a serious decision, not a whim of a little girl. Their relationship was perfect and full of chemistry between 2 smart characters. I really liked the moment when TZ's features were transferred to YY, her flirtation is so professionally and divinely portrayed by CY. Even though he is not popular or very beautiful she is the best in his profession. HE IS A ACTOR WITH BIG LETTER "A" . Only the kiss scene by the small lake, their look and how passionately they looked at each other or their conversation is 3 minutes. The whole fantasy is equivalent to dramas. And YM is an understanding friend. I wish everyone had a friend like YM. It was a beautiful and mature relationship with a chemistry hotter than the fire of hell. I love cute stories and all other fantasy dramas, I won't give up on anything because it's my favorite genre. But the story of these characters, their relationship, their understanding, their thoughts and decisions, it was a whole other level. I don't understand why people call this story boring and why it has such a low rating. Because in the story where there are adventure and detective elements, this story is more priority for me.

And back to how amazingly CY and YZ played. At first, when I was still a teenager, watching dramas was just entertainment for me, and I just enjoyed the pretty pictures and pretty faces, and I was satisfied with that. But over time. After years, watching dramas became an anti-stress for me. When I came home tired from work, I was only hoping for a cup of tea, plaid and dramas to brighten up my routine day. Also, my priorities have changed over time. Currently, it is important for me that the actor plays emotionally and well so that his emotions are conveyed to you and you feel what your favorite characters are going through. And exactly this task was performed and his profession was presented to us in all aspects by CY and YZ. CY's facial expressions, looks, emotions, eyes, gestures, this person is not just a poster, this person is a very decent actor.

Love it

I don't know why to got compared alot the FL is a good one. Same as ML and second ML especially Second ML. I love his fan. I think people expected too much so they couldn't enjoy it. I loved watching season 2 the most especially now where we get to know about the story of Xuan He. I also heard Chengyi used his actual voice for Xuan He. If that's his actual voice then I am happy to listen to it. Most favorable character is Yandan she's some what relatable to my myself weak but has a strong mindset. Second favourable character is Yu Mo. Don't you like his fan movement. Third favourable character should have been Ying yuan but em I prefer his dad to him. I recommend this series a million times. In fact I recommend every Yang Zi movie.

ONE OF MY FAVES

I started watching this show after I saw it on a website for asian shows and it seemed interesting so I came right on here to check what the plot is and I immediately got interested! I haven't seen many cdramas so I didn't know what to expect but once I started watching it I was HOOKED! I loved the the leads so much, their acting was amazing and I loved their chemistry as well. There were some filler episodes that I did find quite boring, I believe the part when they were all in the mortal realm (by all I mean Yumo, Yandan and Yingyuan) was not always interesting so I did have to skip through some scenes but overall, I still enjoyed it and I am happy that I did not drop it and stayed until the end. I do not rewatch shows to be honest, but I would definitely re-watch this one at some point.
I will definitely check out the male lead's other shows because I liked his acting the most and I am really curious about his other works!

Immortal Samsara is another classic xianxia drama that contains themes we've seen in previous xianxia dramas. Despite the repeated themes, I still enjoyed this drama as it's such a beautiful love story. There's great character growth with the main characters: from the funny bickering scenes at the beginning to the heart-warming scenes of them falling in love to the heart-wrenching separation and finally their reunion. Both main leads were great with their performances. They sure know how to deliver on those emotional/angst scenes. Their relationship has a lot of angst (very typical of xianxia dramas), but it was never one-sided.They both equally suffered in their love by each other's rejections but they never stopped loving each other even though they're unwilling to admit it. They were separated for early 900 years yet that love never died. I love the idea of the butterflies always flying around our main leads. Their journey together has taught them to learn how to love better and trust each other.

May the agarwood in this drama continues to burn…

What I liked:

1. Main leads recalled their past and thus their love for each other within the first 10 episodes of part 2 because part 1 ended with them in the mortal realm searching for the magical artefacts and it was draggy there. There was a ‘FINALLY’ kind of feeling.
2. Cheng Yi as Xuan Ye, his father. His acting and him using his real voice was impressive. Him being able to act three different characters in the drama and all seemingly acted by different people, said a lot about his acting skills.
3. Misunderstandings cleared and feelings conveyed and confessed between the two main leads.
4. I did not shed a tear in this drama, but I was moved by Ying Yuan (Cheng Yi)’s confessions of his feelings to Yan Dan (Yang Zi) the night before the showdown with the villain in the final episode.

What could have been better:

1. Average storyline
2. Draggy mortal world seemingly going nowhere
3. Ending was not ideal, but it was logical and befitting of the progress of the story, so in a way I could still accept, but just short of feeling happy.

Overall, I preferred part 2 to part 1, but liked the angst typical of xianxia dramas in part 1 in the first 18 or so episodes before the mortal realm.

Season two wasn’t any better than season one. Again the entire story is so confusing and so dumb at the same time. Like this entire show was like 60 episodes and wasn’t worth any of my time.

To start off, the beginning was really boring, with a weak female lead, and there’s this rule in the heavens that you cannot fall in love, however the entire point of the show is to fall in love. The story gets more and more confusing as you watch more, like there’s too many things happening onece and several different things that we don’t even need.

The color scheme of the show is honestly awful. Everything is like light color, like looking from the back of the characters you probably can’t tell who is who, cause the hairstyle is literally the same for everyone.

The only reason people watch this show is for Cheng Yi and Yang Zi, don’t waste your time on this show, it’s not worth 60 episodes of your life, I should have dropped this show early. Way too long.
