Great Acting, Fluffy Story
I recently watched Cherry Blossoms After Winter, and as someone who enjoys soft, coming-of-age romances, I found it to be a charming and endearing series. Based on a popular BL manhwa, the story follows Tae Sung and Hae Bom, two high school students who have grown up together under the same roof but only now find themselves as classmates. The narrative centers on their developing relationship, and while it doesn’t dive into intense conflicts or dramatic twists, it explores themes of friendship, love, and self-acceptance in a way that really resonated with me.I appreciate that the show stays true to the source material, capturing the essence of a youthful romance that blossoms gradually. Admittedly, the pacing felt a bit off at times, likely due to the short runtime and episodic format, but I found that these minor issues didn’t detract too much from the story. It’s a sweet and gentle romance, so I came in with modest expectations and felt satisfied by the end.
The chemistry between the leads, Ok Jin Uk (Tae Sung) and Kang Hui (Hae Bom), truly shines. Watching them fumble through their feelings, sometimes awkwardly and sometimes shyly, reminded me of the nervousness and sincerity that comes with first love. Tae Sung’s character starts off a bit reserved, but seeing him open up and reveal his softer side was so endearing. Hae Bom, on the other hand, is gentle and kind-hearted, someone who works hard despite his vulnerabilities. I found myself rooting for them not only as a couple but as individuals who are each learning to embrace themselves.
In terms of production quality, I have to say that while Cherry Blossoms After Winter may not boast high-budget visuals, there’s something about its simplicity that worked well with the story. The cinematography is soft and warm, with close-up shots that capture the characters’ subtle glances and tender interactions. It doesn’t have the glossy, high-budget look of some other dramas, and at times, it does feel a bit low-budget, but I found that it matched the story’s slice-of-life vibe. The minimalist sets and short episodes reminded me of a small-scale production, but instead of being disappointed, I felt like this simple style allowed the story’s sweetness to shine through.
The supporting cast also deserves some appreciation. Though they don’t take up too much screen time, I loved how they added depth and texture to the story. The family dynamics and friendships helped me see the main characters in a more complete light, making them feel relatable and grounded in a supportive community. The show’s secondary characters may not be complex, but they’re kind and supportive, adding to the overall warmth that I felt while watching.
I also noticed that while the soundtrack isn’t particularly memorable, it fits well with the mood of the show. The music felt understated but effective, giving a gentle boost to key scenes without overshadowing the moments. The lack of standout music might be a downside for some, but for me, it worked in line with the subtle vibe of the story.
Overall, Cherry Blossoms After Winter left me with a heartwarming impression. It’s a feel-good drama that emphasizes the simplicity of young love and the beauty of friendship. If you’re in the mood for a soft, sweet story that doesn’t try to do too much, I think this drama is worth a watch. It’s not the most intricate or high-stakes series out there, but it’s incredibly comforting and wholesome. Fans of BL and high school romances will likely find it a lovely escape—one that highlights just how impactful small acts of tenderness can be.

I mean I guess you could watch it....
This show gave me nothing. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Did I eagerly wait for a new episode to be released each week? Also Yes. Did I day dream about the couple? You know I did....but still....I'm tempted to ask for a refund. The couple is super cute. The story is pretty far fetched although I guess in the realms of BL it's actually kind of believable lol. For me I don't think the chemistry was really there. I feel bad giving it a low score but when it's all said and done...I don't really have anything good to say about it. It's cute, no brain required type of watch which is often at time exactly what you need so go ahead and enjoy it...but tempter your expectations.
The potential for greatness is absolutely there. I would say the potential of the show is its redeeming factor....like you could create a better BL in your head (and I did [devil emoji] ) using the characters and plot from the series.
The final.....that really just added insult to injury in my opinion....

Cute moments but choppy
This is a webdrama that really would've benefitted from being longer. There's the skeleton of a plot here but without the blurb I would've been really confused, there's not enough time to really make the emotions go as deep as it should, and sometimes there are logical jumps where it feels like scenes are missing.I still quite enjoyed it and the acting for Haebom is especially adorable, but you could tell that this was a webtoon adaptation and it was like they picked scenes from the comic to reenact.

Beautiful
a really beautiful show with a rating too low tbh. it's a really good one for Korea, casting was fab, no MAJOR drama but I quite liked that. it was a good one for a sad and lazy afternoon.please don't be turned off by some of these really extreme reviews I don't think some of them are justified at all. we all have our own taste but some are just missing the point
*slight spoiler*
I especially liked the characters of the friend and mother and how they were explored. I think the friend was just so lovely and shows the more accepting modern Korea slowly arising whereas the mother showed rhe fear and conflict the older generations fear for their children

It's a slow and gentle story -- both the school bullying and short violence in the beginning and the initial coldness of Tae Seong's make the thawing of feelings and the beginning warmth between the couple clearer.
I really like the progression of the story, the pacing is right, the camera work is solid. I like that the young men change their hair style and their clothing when starting university. I also think both their body language changes with their changing feeling, though that point is more subtle.
There's one thing I wish would have been different. I feel that the sets and the colour palette of this series are very cool, too white, sometimes even a bit sterile. While this makes sense in the beginning (Hae Bom's room looks more like a guest room than a teenager's room -- but then again, he feels like a guest in this house), I would have like a shift to warmer colours in later episodes -- spring colours to go with the plot. Unfortunately, Tae Seong and Hae Bom's flat still looks impersonal and cold -- personal effects, a bit of untidyness could have helped. The strings of lighting, I'm sorry to say, only feel artificial to me. Still, this is something that I only can put in words now, after having watched this series several times, so it's really only a minor thing.

One of My Favorite Korean BL’s
I love this series so much from the acting to the story and all the in between. This is one of my feel good BL’s because even though there is a bit of drama it’s handled very quickly. I pray and hope to see the leads in another project soon. The supporting cast was also stellar. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Esta resenha foi útil para você?

Full Bloom
This series was so sweet and fluffy, I loved it. The bullying of course irritated me but that's the point so great job to the actors on their part. I know this was a story about two boys raised together but the fact Haebom always addressed Taesung's mom as Tae's mom and not "our mom" helped with the weirdness of that part of it. I was able to see them as just childhood friends living together(With the subs from Viki anyways, i don't know if it's subbed differently anywhere else). I only wish Yonghee got his own happy ending though it was hinted at in the end cause he turned out to be my fave. The mom lowkey annoyed me with thinking about herself and what others thought instead of their happiness but I know she meant well. Anyways, cute quick watch. I recommend it.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
I love Comfy Sweaters & Cherry :)
This was overall a lovely bl drama, loved the 2 male leads but wish it was longer as it's a lot of story to develop over a very short time. It is one of the best bl dramas I have watched this year! The reviews on here are not giving enough credit to the actors which they did a very good job. The MLs are very similar but one is more like the protector that has been in love with the other since childhood. Production could be a little better and if there is another season, there is room for improvement.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
kinda weird plot if you think about it
this drama does kinda have a weird plot because technically they were raised as brothers but grew up not really feeling like brothers… idk but it was cute and I do think I’ll rewatch it one day.I like their chemistry it’s definitely believable that they love each other and we can feel how they feel because the acting was really good.
a good comfort watch and not too much angst that makes you feel bad watching it. it’s the perfect mix of emotional and romantic and I really enjoyed watching it.

Cute and wholesome
Wholesome. That's the word. I binge watched this and enjoyed it. Here are my pros and cons:PROS
UNCOMPLICATED. After being disappointed with so many (mostly Thai) BL series this year -- with wacky and incomprehensible storylines -- this South Korean BL was refreshing in its simplicity. I like you, you like me, let's get together. Nice.
NICE FRIENDS. I enjoyed that the friends were supportive of their relationship, and there wasn't a big deal made of "ooooohh, you're gaaayy" [except for the villain, but he was disposed of quickly].
NO "I'M ACTUALLY STRAIGHT, I'M JUST GAY FOR YOU." Thank you for that. Thai BLs, please take notice. There was no past girlfriend that was trying to hold on to her man. And Taesung made it clear that he had no interest in girls and never did.
SHORT EPISODES. No wasted time. If anything, they could have shortened the series by one or two episodes.
CONS
SECOND HALF LESS GOOD. I really loved the series up until university. It wasn't bad afterward, just a bit less interesting.
NOT ENOUGH BACKGROUND DETAILS. They tried to give us the backstory, I guess. Would have liked to know more about Haebom's parents, how Taesung managed to go for THAT many years ignoring Haebom... I wouldn't have minded knowing more about the bully as well.
Overall, it was enjoyable and I liked the chemistry between the main couple.
8.0 from me.

its… okay?
i honestly started watching this due to the high amount of people saying it was “cute” and “fluffy” but honestly the only thing i liked about this drama was the main leads.what confused me at first was the bullies. they start bullying haebom but then all of a sudden they disappear? i get that after the time skip they go because they’re out of highschool but even before the timeskip they just don’t appear anymore.
the acting was pretty good to be honest. the main leads were cute and they portrayed their not so good characters well.
also taesung literally forcing haebom against the wall and nearly choking him was so unnecessary, i get that taesung is in denial of haebom not liking him but it was so weird and made me so uncomfortable. he apologised but that still didnt make me think over the whole situation.
it was obviously low quality and their budget was small but honestly the storyline needs some work.
i wouldnt recommend watching it :)

Carina!
