love the show but it could've ended differently

When hui rou was introduced they made it seem like she was going to change the whole trajectory of the show. You know near the end of a show when everyone's happy and you just know something bad is gonna happen well for this I thought it would've been xuan ming figuring out that San mei was also lord Zhao Nan but the conflict didn't last long, which I am grateful for but they could've ended the show around here. I feel like they didn't do enough with hui rou's character for her part to have been dragged on the way it was, the thought of having a villain like her seemed interesting but they threw her into the show like she was a last-second thought. other than that i will say the cast did a great job portraying their characters (especially the main leads i would love to see them in another drama actually) and I would definitely tune in for a second season

FL is amazing! OTP silly humor worked!

Best watching this drama when on wine.

This is one of those dramas took me by surprise. I only watched this because someone posted on a feed with a specific funny scene of the FL catching an arrow then pretending to stab herself & die. The poster definitely was NOT appealing. Her expressions are so funny that I had to try out this drama.

These types of dramas are typical OTP stupid humor with paper thin plot so I can only watch these once in a while. The best part of the drama is the FL. Not that she looks like a guy at all but her gestures, her forced man voice & her manly expressions are exceptional. ML was ok but he was nowhere near the FL.

The stupid humor is not for everyone. If you want plot to totally work this is not it. If you want light humor, this is a good choice.

So funny, so much kissing, YES!

Super hilarious! I usually am not a fan of rom-com historical dramas, but you can't help but get sucked into this one. From the very start, I couldn't stop laughing!

This drama has the over-the-top comedy, so think slap-stick comedy with a little palace drama. If you don't think this is your jam, I beg you to give it a try because you will forever like this silly writing.

The best part of the drama was probably the cast, especially the leads. It's good to see some actors that usually have supporting roles or roles that aren't that big, finally do a drama where they can really shine.

The chemistry between the leads is really good and probably because they are in their late twenties (THANK YOU!). As much as I love watching young C drama actors, I like it when they cast someone over 25 (they don't look so baby).

The storyline is very comical and I love all the side couples. You can't help but root for all of the players. The plot is okay. It's a very basic storyline of some misunderstandings, plotting and keeping secrets (usually not my thing), but the comedy and skin-ship of the show really outshines everything else.

If you like kissing, there is PLENTY of that in this one.

The audio isn't the best as sometimes when they project really loudly, you can hear some of the static, but that is okay, it's a low budget drama, so you take it for what it is. Also, if there is a season 2, I REALLY do hope they have fight scenes (again probably because of budget) but I've never seen a historical drama that had little to no fight scenes to watch (I'm talking about the martial art epic scenes of people flying and jumping on trees).

Overall, if you need something uplifting and put smiles on your face, this is the show to watch!

A good and fun watch

A very satisfying drama,the drama is not too long and not too short, no unnecessary drama being thrown in at the last minute this is the way a drama is suppose to be with a fl that has sense and smart brain, also never changes after a few episodes. FL retain her smartness all throughout the drama.. The princess is my favourite character, her smartness is so hilarious ? ?. Had me laughing all through it, the writer gave us all a beautiful moment with this drama, it was funny while also retaining the action part of it. The villains weren't really villaining except for the second villainess. Watched this while not expecting anything from it but an immense satisfaction after watching.

PLOT WELL DONE, Fell deeply to FL's demeanor!

It was supposed to be my hangover series after I watched some series that left an unfinished feeling in my heart but WHAT THE FUDGE! I was tricked when they said that I wouldn't feel angst. Because it agitated me more than thrice. But oh well. That was just the process and not the ending! Maybe we have a different meaning of 'no angst'. Lucky I was tricked because... This is a rare gem I've been looking for! The plot was aligned with my taste. I liked how they put struggles and unspoken dilemmas that I rarely see in historical drama (especially since I started watching Chinese historical drama). I want to put more emphasis on its plot but you must watch it and see/analyze it for yourself!

The FL was the best! This might be one of the ideal FLs I ever want to convey. Her tactics and foresight. Her captivating wit and mind. Her attitude and formidable personality. Ghad, plus her temper. They did a great job of staying true. I guess living like a man gives her a way to be more transparent about her feelings that's why even with her demeanor as an emperor, she still has an eccentric side. Something I wished to see was for her wife to know her identity but unfortunately, she did not but it's okay. I still like that she lived her life with moments with her sworn sisters.

ML is good too. He might have a problem loving his "handsomeness". But he let go twist and turns without causing broad misunderstanding and idiocy hehe. Which was the best especially when they worked together (FL and ML duo for solving things were the best!). This dude portrays balance! (Let me know if you guess what I mean!) One thing that I really like about his character is that he had a good relationship with the 2nd character at the end (because I'm that guy who always rooting for the 2nd character hehe). That was a great scene there!

Speaking of the second character, I really like the FL for being straightforward to him. I salute her for that and I salute the 2nd character for respecting that. Ghad, this series was getting more praise than I anticipated!

And the villain. This was awesome. Some changes, and some get worse. But there are no lapses in their character that make you question why they become like that. I admit that the last one was extreme and the more (in reality check) complex among them. The scene with the FL at the end was very powerful indeed. However, I can't let go of that sexual assault (okay attempt!) to the Princess. Did that guy get killed? He MUST.

Overall, the plot leaves a great impact on equality that reflects FL's ambition. I really like couples like this who help each other to reach each other's ambition by choosing NOT to give a damn to dilemmas that break them apart. Choosing to be with your loved ones would never be selfish even if they persuade that it is. There's nothing more hypocritical than thinking that sacrificing one's self could save her/him. It's b****** (read the post-credit!)

Not a very special drama

Cliché amnesia and cross-dressing plot line. The only thing that made this drama stand out somewhat is that FL is actually very smart and she had some really badass moments that I really enjoyed.
Otherwise, it was nothing really special. The actress of the villain was not good, her scenes annoyed me. Not because her character was annoying (this as well) but because her acting was not great. And I originally really didn't want to comment on this, but I had to look at the lipfillers of ML the whole time, it was quite distracting... And there was some serious second lead syndrome for me. He was just so non-toxic and charming, it was quite refreshing.

Balanced Rom-com & Strong Female Lead

Overall, really enjoyed binging this show. I was not expecting a comedy to have such a strong plot with layers of villians and challenges. I thought the FL would bend and become weak when she's around the ML, but that is not at all why the ML in this story falls for the FL. I love the underlying message of equality and putting others above self. They even teach the lesson of “害人之心不可有，防人之心不可无” aka one should not have thoughts of harming others, but one should still be wary of others.

Pacing: amazing. Nothing seemed to drag too much. Plot had time to develop the characters. Short enough for me to binge in like 2 days.
Characterization: each character had their distinct personalities and values that stayed consistent through their actions throughout the story. This made all the side characters fun to watch too and not useless.
Fan-service: Lots of spicy kisses between characters and shirtless guys. Much appreciated!
Ending: Doesn't seem rushed, gave closure, and also gave some future material

Female lead - strong even in situations where she's not at an advantage. She doesn't really ever lose her smarts and gut instincts. Her judgement doesn't get clouded. The actress is also able to act naturally funny and not afraid to make stupid faces for the sake of comedy. When she does act serious, she really shines. Even when she's not in the role of power, her character carries herself with a level of confidence and bravery.

Male lead - also able to act stupid for the sake of comedy. My fav was when he also cross-dresses. You can really tell the moments that his character falls for the FL, when she's smart/brave/strong. He's willing to do some stupid things for her because of how much he believes in her.

Villians: Very hate-able. Good acting. Evil schemes actually made sense, even if the FL uses her logic to use their schemes against them. The evil laughs were both hilarious and chilling.

Misc:
Unique use of dreams! Usually when a character has dreams, it's just flashbacks of the same scenes. In this drama, they use it as means to talk to the dead and I think it shows how much the dead mean to the main characters, and how much of an influence they are on their lives and values. It added to the story and gave us of view of their inner thoughts.

Music - not memorable but didn't effect the story much. Opening song definitely sets the comedy vibes.
Rewatch Value - I generally don't rewatch things so this doesn't mean much to me.

A REFRESHLY MUST WATCH ROMCOM. EXTREMELY BINGEABLE!!!

AN INCREDIBLY REFRESHING ROMCOM THAT NAILS BOTH THE ADORABLY COMEDIC ASPECTS AND THE STEAMY ROMANCE ASPECTS. There's never a dull moment and no annoying characters. Both the casting and acting for this show are PERFECT. LOVED every single minute of it. The editing is also hilariously good. The main leads were ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for their roles and are both extremely talented. The chemistry between the main leads was sizzling from start to finish. You really fall in love with each and every character and grow to love all their love stories. And yes even the support casts were so good and really delivered. HIGHLY RECOMMEND GIVING THIS SHOW A WATCH. SUPER BINGEABLE CUZ YOU CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT!!!

Best kisses, Not a cliche but a chaos, mess & comedy

Its not the same cliche you've seen in other dramas where rivarly fall for each other !! Its the kind of drama you'll fall for even the character are all so good !! Nobody's evil other than only one princess qi meng !! Don't fall for other reviews as i also read it and thought it wouldn't be worth my type but well who knows this can be master piece !! Love i would love to see happens, a comedy which i nevef thought i would see cause all the characters are funny on their own !! You can't hate any of them other them qi meng kunju !! Kisses have all my heart ( i can also feel their kisses ¶¶ ) cuties.


The only thing i don't like abt this drama is that they have done over somewhere just to make it more funnier they made their makeup uglies and made big lips after eating spicy foods and big bags of makeup under eyes of ML when he didn't sleep ? they took it in very dramatic way but i still love it nothing can change my rating !! I started it and cmplted 8 ep in 4 hours. And keep watching it i didn't feel like sleeping at all even at the morning first thing came to my mind was to watch this as soon as possible.


Female lead nailing with her acting of being 2 different person and the way her character stands !! Others might will say her acting sucks or anything but i feel like nobody can act this role like how she did !! This is kind of hard character which she portrayed!! Funny, smart, manly and all in one character and most importantly when she try to act like a lady elegant and wise ( she's hilarious ?) i love all of them !! Their first kiss when they both give it in and did it was the best i 'll definitely watch it again when i can't find anything my mood wants..

Spice level is HIGH on this one!

Writing this review after watching it for the second time:

This was such an enjoyable drama to watch, sit back, relax, and enjoy! The misunderstandings and antics here are actually quite hilarious ? The acting is way over-the-top, but it should be easy to see that this is intentional. In my opinion, this is a satire that is absolutely well done.

***If you are looking for something more serious, then you probably won't care for this one.***

The chemistry spice level between the leads is on ?????! I even liked the side story couples which is a rare thing for me.

This is a short and sweet drama (compared to the usual 40+ episodes CDrama) with plenty of laughs along the way. It is absolutely silly, full of ridiculousness, but 200% full of FUN!!! This show doesn't take itself seriously, so neither should you.

The first time I watched this, it took a couple of episodes for me to warm up to the FL character. I think it was because she didn't look believable pretending to be a male. Once I got over that part, I quickly began to enjoy the strength and wits her character possessed.

Hands down though, my favourite characters are what I call the three stooges - her fake father and fake brothers - their buffoonery just killed me???!!!

Also loved the "best assassin in the world" character and the princess, they were such a funny couple.

One complaint that I have is the villain, she really creeped me out. . . I also thought her acting skills were sub-par.

The ending was really funny, I especially liked the micro-expressions between the leads - Liu XuanMing trying to be sneaky and thinking he was pulling one over Zhao Nan but also being indignant and adamantly denying any wrongdoing hahaha.

Be sure to stick around after the last scene for behind-the-scene clips and extra scenes!

Good storyline plot

Good storyline plot, very funny. Hope to see more for. All male lead quite handsome but female only ok. Acting still ok , notice is quite budget some video no retake even have mistake. Stress free drama. Is a must watch show.
