A simple plot wih some good action sequences, ending lost the hold

Netflix delivers a knockout punch with its barnstorming early summer K-drama series Bloodhounds, the tale of two fresh-faced pugilists who go up against the vilest loan shark that Korean screen entertainment has offered us in years.

The drama takes place at the height of the pandemic. Characters wear masks in most locales, and check in to buildings with QR codes; sporting events take place before empty stadiums.

The storyline doesn’t delve into much social critique profoundly. The initial backdrop is set up as the launching pad (the pandemic scenes adding relatability) for the action that follows. Therefore, the series is more serious about how the action fleshes out till the end, and it’s not bad either because the show is equally aware of what it’s doing.

The last two episodes take a jarring turn. There’s no denying the fact that the cast adorably wins you over within the first few episodes, but the final ones go a little south. I would’ve definitely given it a higher rating depending on how much I initially enjoyed the series. However, the last two episodes turned out to be a let down in some spaces, especially with a main character suddenly out of the last 2 episodes and letting the antagonist live, even with an aggressive fight that we witnessed at the end.

My Rating : 8/10

Hooked from the first episode

I'm not one for particularly violent stories. (Honestly, I had to watch some of the recaps ahead of time so I wouldn't be too scared). But this one had me hooked. Woo DoHwan and Lee Sang-Yi are fantastic together. They have the best bromance and they look the part of professional boxers. Serious eye candy, serious laughter, mixed in with a lot of serious parts. There was a little bit of everything except for the usual romance I look for. But that's OK. The action more than makes up for it; everything was choreographed amazingly. You really got sucked in from the first episode to the last.

And yes, I have to admit; I watched the beginning of the finale episode many times.

its very good

The show is not as simple as you've seen it from the trailer. It has a little bit more complicated stories and characters, but not too far off. It has brotherhood, bloody fight, mukbang, and above all, it's a fast pace show. The choreography of the fights in this show is also well done. It's just as good as another korean show from Netflix, My name. The martial arts or fight actions scenes in modern korean movies and tv shows are arguably better than any other action movies whether it's from hollywood, or outside of hollywood. They has more realistic fights. It's fast and furious literally. They don't have those showy exaggerated moves that look like choreographed dance. Unfortunately, this show also has those typical cliche moments like My Name especially those tear-jerky ones. That's my biggest pet peeve in korean tv shows and movies. Although there's a sudden change of pace (It was quite a ride until episode 6), and the ending is a bit rushed and shortened, overall, the show is quiet entertaining. The fight scenes are worth visit more than once. I give solid 7.5/10.

Satisfying Action

9/10. Just finished 👫🏻👫🏻👫🏻 good good very good! By the way, I really like this kind of action, it's satisfying 🤌🏻 I really like the bromance, it makes me want to have a brother who is like that HAHAAHAH. The acting is really cool, Woo Dohwan is really cute, his acting is really different from the character he used to do. I think Dohwan will be a naughty + arrogant child. I'm getting cold sweats every time I watch this because I'm afraid of the next ep & the ending will be bad + it won't live up to expectations, but I know it's okay. The bad thing about this drama is that the ending is packed too tightly, so the ending just seems like a lot has been skipped T_T even though overall it's really good. Not to mention that Hyeonju Ancrit suddenly disappeared because the actress was caught in a scandal irl, duh 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Well, the point is, it's actually good at the beginning, the only thing lacking in the ending is in the ep s 7- 8 was starting to get a little less exciting for me but I kept going until the end. Gunwoo's mother is also really lovely, this drama taught me to keep doing good things, really. I'm touched by Gunwoo's family, Woojin + Choi Taeho's character is also melting 🫂

Top Notch Action and Bromance!

Bloodhounds follows two boxers named Geon-Woo and Woo-Jin as they work together to take down a ruthless evil loan shark and his goons. I have to say that I absolutely loved this show. Woo Do-Hwan and Lee Sang-Yi had fantastic chemistry and truly brought to life and did justice to the bromance and characters. As you can probably sense I'm a sucker for a good bromance. The fight scenes were phenomenally choreographed, and I was on the edge of my seat for every single fight. I also loved the badass female characters in this show they were terrific. The story was pretty good and kept me invested for the most part until the end. There are a lot of side characters I loved to see, and I felt they added a lot to the story. Park Sung-Woong, who played the villain, did a great job of being hateful and frustrating to watch. I don't want to spoil the show too much, and instead will recommend you check it out for yourself!

mh yes the plot the uh.. so... yeah

OILED MEN YAHOOOO !!! I have arrived at a place in my life where I shamelessly admit that I like watching shows for eye candy will enjoy a show for eye candy only. the plot could've been the most rancid cheesy storyline I've ever seen and I still wouldve enjoyed watching it. I have no standards left.

luckily, this show had a good plot as well as good actors that made watching this show even more worth while.
I actually really liked that Geon Woo had this puppy personality and never really lost his innocence throughout the episodes. usually in revenge dramas the character undergoes this huge development and they end up very badass. proud to say they both stayed himbo until the end.
the ending was a bit messy - we all know why so I won't dive into it. but because if it, it felt rushed and it disturbed the natural flow of the show, that's why it fell flat for me towards the end

all in all the show slayed!!! hurray oiled boys!!!! hurray bromance!!!

So good in the beginning but many flaws that should've been fixed

I really liked this drama and how the pacing was fast which kept me on the edge of the seat the whole time. I really want to give 9/10 but the amount of flaws and how the story had to be re-written lowers the rating a bit unfortunately.

The biggest flaws I wished they changed:
- how is it that they decided to attack Myeong gil & his team but decide to sit back & relax. They totally let their guards down, how could they not have thought their would be retaliation and I just felt so sorry for the grandpa's 2 friends that were helping him carry out the mission. It's so dumb to me how Dooyoung (leather jacket guy) has all his info at the hideout where Myeonggil was able to retrieve which led to his death. Also how is it that the grandpa & his 2 friends didn't make the effort to change their names/identity knowing that MG knows them. You'd think these guys would be smarter knowing who they're dealing with
- the grandpa's 2 friends died too soon. they weren't able to really show how trained & experienced they claimed to be. we could've gotten even more fight scenes & development from those 2 characters that I've come to like, just unfortunate and unrealistic how they let their guards down like that (I'm used to watching action but seeing the grandpa & his 2 friends death was just so horrible for me b/c their characters were made likeable)
- tell me how some of MG's guys didn't die after being sliced in the throat? Also feel like the tank dude should've been taken out around the same time. On top of that Woo jin's attack & the amount of blood he lost just doesn't make any sense to how he survived
- b/c the story got re-written, I just didn't like the last 2 eps with how everything changed & they had to rely on the chaebol guy. the fact that the money would be going to him when gunwoo & woojin should've taken the money to continue the grandpa's good deed makes more sense. I get that they weren't here for the money but its not wise & unrealistic with what happened at the end
- I wished we would've been able to explore how the bad guys were punished. I think the good guys just suffered so much in comparison to how the ending was more open-ended, almost seems lackluster and too many loose ends
- I think 12 episodes would've been ideal to further explore the grandpas, his 2 friends, and even the villains backgrounds. I honestly think they should've done something different with the chaebol dude bc I honestly didn't care for his story & even at the end his character didn't show appreciation for the help he received & yet he took all the money (no redeeming qualities to him)

What I liked:
- everyone's acting was amazing, loved that the plot is unique and the characters as some say the plot is mid
- woo do hwan is obviously good and he was what kept me watching
- the grandpa's 2 friends/helpers were very likeable for me, just sad what their ending was
- the villains did a good job portraying their characters
- I liked the fight scenes and the car chases scenes

Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi Unexpected Chemistry

Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi deliver a captivating performance filled with crime and revenge. The overall plot was lacking but still remarkable. I watched all episodes in one sitting because of the intense action scenes that kept me at the edge of my seat. It's unfortunate that the plot kind of went in a different way toward the end which caused the quality of the plot to lessen but I still think the plot was decent. The acting showed by the actors was perfect and astonishing, especially by the the two main characters played by Do Hwan and Sang Yi. With their bromance, the chemistry of the two actors could be felt through the screen and makes the watcher root for them throughout the show. Woo Do Hwan, known as a versatile actor, effortlessly portrays Geon Woo who is a totally different character then past characters he played as. Lee Sang Yi also delivers an impressive performance as Woo Jin. His on-screen chemistry with Woo Do-Hwan is palpable, creating a bromance filled friendship that keeps viewers invested in their journey. It can be felt that both actors prepared a lot for this series and it was not in vain. The music/Ost was good but not really memorable. Rewatch value can vary between different watchers scene this is a little gruesome and some might not want to watch it again.

Do Hwan was sooo cute in this he gives off teddy bear energy🤭🥰

Woo do Hwan is back!!!

Unexpectedly it was really intresting storyline. And acting has been outstanding. Its my first ever review for any drama.

All characters no matter how smal may have been the part in the series has been well written and potraid well.

It had its light moments. Sang yi was a surprise to watch.

Park sung woong has always been one of my favourite villians.

Action sequences were really well executed however at times its monotonous.

I would have preferred if they would not have killed few characters.
Overall a good watch if someone is looking for non romance action thriller.

Disappointed...again!!!

So this is about the third drama that I've watched that have left me thinking what the heck is going on here!!!

In the beginning you get the sense that the son(not going to name names) was trying to help out his mom pay some bills so he's going to do some boxing to win money to help her but then she takes out a loan and not read the fine print and get herself into a whole lot of trouble with some crooked loan people. Common sense should tell you if it sounds too good to be true, it usually isn't. This drama brought out all the stupidity of people.

The first few episodes held my interest because I wanted those who were doing those illegal loans to pay for it dearly.

The one thing that didn't disappoint me was the fighting scenes! Oh, man! I'm not heavily into boxing but kind of swayed me. It was weird barely seeing any martial arts in a Asian drama though.

Episodes 6-8 was where I became utterly disappointed. I thought the whole gang was going to take down the main villain and get some well deserved justice but half the cast literally gets obliterated by two men. The main female is nowhere to be seen in the last few episodes even though she got on my ever lasting nerves in the beginning. I loved the fact that she was able to hold her own against countless of guys. That one guy's pride was so hurt after he got beat by a girl.

The last two episodes was underwhelming. The second main ML gets severely injured but looks buff and unharmed in the last episode. There's a new girl in the picture trying to replace the other girl. She shows she's good in archery but missed a lot of shots...Really?! She also said she can fight but she never do.

The take down of the two main bad guys was what really tanked it for me. I don't know what I was expecting but I know I wasn't expecting it to end in the lowest of take downs ever.

I know I haven't seen the first main ML and the main male villain in some dramas in a few years and was excited to see them both in one but wondered since they haven't been in anything in a few did they just took what they could? Did they not have any questions when doing the table read because I know I would've had some questions.

All in all, this drama have left me in a Kdrama slump. I'll be glad when I can find one that will restore my faith in Korean dramas. Until then...the slump continues.

Wow. Just wow

So good. I binged watched all 8 episodes in netflix last night. I really loved every episode. The plot was superb and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. It was so action packed and suspenseful. I am such a huge fan of the two male leads and their relationship, the characters and the story really was superb. Really don’t have anything bad to say about this kdrama. One of my favorite dramas this year for sure. Watch it you won’t regret it. I will definitely be rewatching this as it was so entertaining.
