Unique, edgy and brilliant
One of my top ten favourite kdramas from the past few years. Unforgettably sad, unforgettably funny. Also, an excellent introduction to the pressures of life in Korea, some of which are universal but some of which are unique to the history and sociological culture of the peninsula.A fusion fantasy/scifi/healing drama about an understaffed, experimental and not very gentle team of Grim Reapers tasked with easing the pressure that Korea's high suicide rate is putting on an overcrowded Hell. A Korean Hell just for Koreans, by the way -- one of my favourite scenes has the head of the Grim Reaper Escort Team, Park Joong Gil (played by Lee Soo Hyuk), rescuing a group of Korean souls during WWII who were being stolen off to a Japanese Hell by a pair of Japanese Reapers!
Euphemistically named the Risk Management Team of the Jumadeung Corporation, the Team Manager is a parolee from Hell, Koo Ryeon (played by Kim Hee Sun), who has a tough love approach to her work. For example scaring silly a van full of would-be suicides using online instructions, by driving the wrong way through traffic until they beg to be allowed to live. When this fails she uses her supernatural powers.
Her only employee is Lim Ryung Gu (played by Yun Ji On) who refuses to work more than his 8 hr shift (so rebellious in SK context!). The Jade Emperor(ess), the CEO of the squeakily antiseptic white-walled corporate Jumadeung skyscraper, decides to add a recently comatose soul wandering freely as a temporary worker to the team. Choi Jun Woong (played by Kim Seok Woo a.k.a. Rowoon) had just begged the heavens to give him an employee ID card by any means, when he fell off a Han River bridge trying to stop a suicide jumper.
The Team is alerted to each case by a 'negative energy' alert monitor app and they use a variety of scifi methods to investigate each one: entering the subject's dreams or their memories (with very Matrix-like FX), observations of their work environments along with persuasion on a personal level.
Jun Woong slowly transforms Koo Ryeon's approach to suicide prevention as he matures from a bumbling and irrepressible newbie into a hugely compassionate and effective intervention agent. The absolute and pure warmth of Rowoon's performance elevates what would have been a grittily comic Reaper story into something only Korea could have produced, a full length (16 eps at 1hr ea.) clear-eyed depiction of the cascade of forces which drive a person to fear tomorrow more than death.
I stopped at over two dozen listing all of the misfortunes woven into the stories of the dozen or so individual cases the Team handles, Each crisis is developed in original ways, often with an interesting point of view.
One woman feels so guilty over not believing the stories of the suffering of the Korean 'comfort women' enslaved into prostitution by the Japanese Army of WWII because her best friend was taken by them, that she contemplates taking her life. The Team asks her to meet with another sufferer who wanted to see someone who had known their mutual friend before she passed away, and so their pain is sweetly dissolved through tears.
The IMF crisis which deprived so many families of their livelihoods is seen through the eyes of a little child who only remembers a miraculous birthday, and the fried chicken event staged by the team helps to save him as an adult struggling with exam failure. The threads connecting the past with the present have seldom been so delicately indicated,
The show balances the unchanged penalty for suicide in the afterworld as a crime with deeply moving episodes portraying individual suffering which elicit compassion from the viewer. The joy of Tomorrow is two-fold; to watch Koo Ryeon stomping the bejeezus out of all the cruel and thoughtless people who torment others to make themselves feel better is exhilarating, and to see Rowoon's unique ability to project sincere love, care and compassion as the one true message of this beautiful show.
A StudioN/MBC show, with the composers Jo Seung Woo and Won Ho Kyung. Writers -- Park Ran, Park Ja Kyung and Kim Yu Jin.
On my top ten best ever kdramas list as of 12/24: Goblin, Hwayugi, Because This Is My First Life, Just between Lovers; the K2, Run On, Doom at Your Service; Tomorrow, Alchemy of Souls (earliest to latest) and Mr. Plankton .
The creators of the show, the writers and the directors deserve enormous credit. Hoping to see more of their work.

There is light at the end of the tunnel
“Tomorrow ” has been in my watchlist since 2022 and I finally mustered up courage to watch it. Even thou it still wasn’t enough as the show relies on some heavily sensitive content that I was not expecting at all. If you want to watch Tomorrow, you should be mentally prepared for the trauma. Although i keep watching to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Even thou healing isn’t that quick or easy but every story did exhibit some hope, hidden lesson which made it worth it at the end. Once you get into the show,it’s hard to stop because you want to see what happens next, whose story will it be now.The fried chicken episode and the last three episodes were my favourite because we finally get to see Mr. park and Ms Koo’s story. I was waiting for their story since the beginning of the show. And it was a longgg wait but worth it..
The show had the similar vibe to hotel deluna but I’ll prefer rewatching hotel de luna than tomorrow because this show is too intense. Not for everyone.
I would’ve liked if Rowoon had a love interest or some grim reaper girl crush, it would’ve been fun to watch and that could’ve lighten up the show a bit. But it was good overall.

Each episodes worth to watch and ended nicely
I've just have finished all of the episodes recently. Not gonna lie,I cry all the time in every episodes. It's really emotional if you imersed yourself in it,I really loved how Rowoon carry his role as Choi Jun Woong the most. He's really adorable! Not to mentioned Gu Ryeon and Mr Lim,they always being cold-hearted to him all the times but as the episodes when by,they're warmed up to him. I really love chemistry between Mr Park and Gu Ryeon as well, eventhough it didn't shows much but stories about their past making me shed tears. Eventhough they're having hard times as Grim Reapers, they didn't failed to show affection to each others in the end. I think it wasn't quite exceed expectations by most viewers that it should be more affectionate, but for me this is enough. Since this kdrama genre is isn't romance(please corrected me if im wrong). Every Grim Reapers in the RM department has dark pasts except for Jun Woong since he's been there for 6 months by accident. But his presence in the team has been lightening up the moods,in many ways. I definitely reccomend this Kdrama to my friends and families eventhough it's often mentioned of suicides and other criminal scenes and stuffs. For me,this drama is the best one I've watched in 2022. I'm not gonna lie since it's exceeded my expectations,I would rewatched it since some episodes is really hilarious that didn't fails to make me laugh. And of course, everyone's(viewers) have different opinions and perspectives/tastes and might won't agree 100% with what I say,but I really do hope that no one would rate it less than 5 stars since, this drama is really not that bad. The casts potrays each characters given so well, for me,this kdrama is a masterpiece that deserves more recognitions. (Please do excuse if there's any errors in my review since English is not my first language). Definitely worth to airs season 2 because why not??it's really entertaining.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
"I don’t want tomorrow to come."
EVERYONE THAT FATE BRINGS TOGETHER MUST PART AT LEAST ONCE, WHETHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT. — Koo RyeonFrankly I don't have anything to say regarding objective facts(statistics, data, quotes, etc.) about the kdrama. All I want to say is, this was a startlingly good kdrama.
My review is going to be heavily biased, as I really, really unashamedly love this kdrama with all my heart. So if you're expecting a relatively "objective" review with pros and cons, this isn't the review for you (actually, majority of my reviews aren't).
The series follows protagonists Jun-Woong, Ryon, and Ryung Goo as they traverse difficult and emotionally tense situations trying to save people from the brink of death under the crisis management team, "RM". RM is a temporary branch of Jumaedung, essentially this drama's version of South Korea's afterlife. I specifically point out South Korea because at some point in one of the episodes, it's possibly implied there's different afterlives depending on the country. I *think.*
Additionally, the trio deal with their own struggles with their pasts and presents. Jun-Woong is a likeable protagonist, written to mean well while at the same time still being as sensitive to issues as he can even if he doesn't have the experience or capability to fully understand and/or empathise. Ryon and Ryung Goo grow on you after 1 or 2 episodes with them. Especially when you find out why they're doing the job that they do...
I've struggled with depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation often in the past, and still do now. Every now and then there are those thoughts that haunt me and there's always the fear that one day I'll give in and, well, you know. But Tomorrow has provided me a drastically different lens to view my situation in. Not just about suicide, but about living and choosing how I live, too.
All these stories were poignant and wonderful, every episode made me tear up even if that wasn't the intention. Each episode is meaningful and there's always a takeaway from them no matter how small or subtle. Episodes 6 and 7(the latter being my absolute favourite) were the ones that stood out the most for me, everything from story to soundtrack and premise of it. Episode 2 comes in close as well.
For the sake of transparency, I will admit that Ep7 and 2 deal with issues that I myself have dealt with personally in my life, and the consequences of such mirror mine in some way. These fictional depictions of traumas are traumas that I myself can relate to.
Ep7's Bo Ram and her confidence was empowering. Ye-Na's backstory was emotional and beautifully poignant. I particularly liked the sequence at the end Ye-Na has in her mind, it was fantastically done even with no words.
I hardly grow attached to many kdrama characters, but after spending so many episodes with these three(and sometimes other Jumaedung staff) have made so much of an impact on me after seeing how they work and make decisions. The ideas this kdrama puts forth and the wonderful quotes that spawn from it are beautiful and very much worth witnessing.
This kdrama came at a time where despite faring better mentally and emotionally than past years, I was still very vulnerable and uncertain. As I've mentioned, there are times where I have felt suicidal and in those moments I desperately wish to hear certain things. My experiences don't account for every single person with similar struggles out there, and I don't claim they do, but this kdrama helped me personally. It reminded me of concepts, ideas, things I can keep in mind in the future and even now. The dialogue and thinking these characters have, like Joong Gil(the stoic reaper you'll see pretty soon), are realistic enough to be believable. I've heard, seen, and with some phrases even echoed, these sorts of thoughts and words. I've given, and I've been on the receiving end. Dealing with the suicidal often requires tact and caution, and despite how abrasive Ryon can be initially, it's surprisingly believable how the people they're helping react.
To conclude, I wasn't kidding when I said I really liked this kdrama. One of my top favourites in recent memory *for sure*, and it's probably staying that way for a long, long time. I'm glad I didn't drop this when I wanted to, and finished it when I did. Worth a watch, and worth a rewatch too. If you're into social issues in S.Korea being depicted and grappled with in a kdrama, and can stomach suicide, you might enjoy this like I did.

A importância do amanhã

Shoet stories within the plot
(First of all, I would like to apologize for my english as I'm not a native speaker). If you are doubting whether watching this series or not, do it. The first chapters may be a little slow as they are kind of an introduction to the overall of the series but, as they pass, the better they are. This is my first review as I'm usually lazy to write one but this series really deserves it. It'strue that the general plot / story is a bit slow, but as every chapter tells a new story is very nice. The acting and stories are so emotional i cried easily in more than two chapters but not only because of sadnes but also because of happiness and relief.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Going up there with my favorites
Look, I don't catch feelings very often. In fact, it takes a lot to get me to tear up. But this show? Yeah, I actually had to pause it a few times to compose myself. To me that says everything about a series, from the writing to the actors. Honestly, if the ending hadn't felt a tad bit rushed it likely would have earned a 10!At first I watched it because I'm a sucker for Grim Reaper stories. Why? I couldn't say, but I love them when they're done well. Granted the initial disclaimer gave me a moment's pause, so I proceeded with caution. I'm so glad I did. For anyone who has felt hopeless, helpless, and clinging to tiny threads of happiness, this show is so satisfying. It validates one's feelings while skillfully challenging them at the same time. Also, for those who love someone dealing with this, it's an eye-opening look at those struggles.
The cast was perfectly chosen, and the character storylines nicely woven together. Nothing in the soundtrack jumped out at me, but that's probably the point. While I might not recommend this to a first-time K-Drama watcher, to the experienced fan it's certainly well worth a look!

Great Acting, A Bit Of A Downer
This drama has fantastic acting from both the main cast as well as one off side characters. The stories are compelling and well written. If you want a drama that moves you, this one has that in spades. However, I must warn that it is a bit of a tear jerker, and the heavy topics can be a little bit of an emotional tole if you are perhaps in a rough space, or watch too many back to back so keep that in mind. Lastly, it doesn’t have much in the ways of romance if that’s what you’re here for. All in all a great show, although I doubt it’s one I’d rewatch often.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
This is the definition of a beautifully done show.
The fantasy story is emotional and unique, daring to touch some very sensitive problems when portraying the life story of different unfortunate souls. It’s amazing how the heartbreaking situations can have heartwarming outcomes thanks to the effort of our lovely grim reapers. And the revenge that comes afterwards are so just and satisfying! The actings are phenomenal. Just from the look they give each other we could tell thousands of love, pain, hatred but also longings. The chemistry from the main couple is so good and the interactions between the CM team members are so cute!
The characters are very beautifully presented with wide range of emotions and development. And it’s a fashion show every time our boss Goo appears. The visuals from our characters are top-notch!
The atmosphere is mostly serious but sometimes also funny. Dealing with difficult issues regarding life and death, the natural humor that we occasionally get is very appreciated.
The effects are good too. The OST are soo beautifully sad and seeing the different aspect of filming by drones are also cool. Love how iconic the teleportation looks and sounds here.
Overall, it’s definitely a must see if you’re looking for something unlike your typical Kdrama. But brace yourself for the onions cutting ninja!
P/s: can we please get a season 2 please I miss them so much!

I never but never cry because of kdramas but this series made me bawl my eyes out especially the episode with the dog omg.Great cast, I also loved how they showed everyone’s background.
