Slow storyline that's getting boring to watch
I'll keep this review short as I've seen other reviews give much more detailed version of what I'm going to say anyway.Unfortunately, it starts really dragging out the plot to the point where I'm skipping through episodes. I'm on episode 12 already so I will finish it, even if I have to keep skipping through because I would like to know how it ends. However, so far the characters just don't seem to be doing anything? I feel like it's clear who the bad guys are or what is related or not within the whole ghost letter and murder mystery thing... Yet, it takes the characters an extra episode or two before they link two very obvious things together. It's almost like they can be really smart in one scene and not at all in the next.
Honestly, I think this could have been a 5 star drama if it was half the amount of episodes. I think 20 episodes is too long for this storyline. It is a shame, as the two lead actors would be interesting to watch if the plot wasn't becoming so slow and repetitive. I don't think it's worth rewatching at all, once finished. If you're bored and really want something to watch though, I would still recommend that you attempt to enjoy this. The first few episode are great, just be prepared to skip through the later ones.

Slower but no less amazing!
I have such mixed feelings about this one. I loved so many people in this one, Park Hyung Sik was amazing in it! It did have a secret that dragged for way to long and made me very frustrated but there were so many other things happening to keep your attention. So many parts I had to rewind and watch over and over because it was hilarious or so cute! The romance didn't feel very deep, but it was still enjoyable. The cast really made this show great! I watched it on Viki and reading other viewers comments were fantastic. I felt so connected with other watchers and we all hated the same people and loved the same people!

Park Hyung Sik does it again!
As a fan of Park Hyung Sik, it is to no suprise that I was hella excited to watch this. This drama was full of excitement, and i finished it in less than 3 days. It's sooo good. The plot is interesting with little to no plot holes. One thing I disliked tho was the ending. Ofc I'm happy they got together in the end but I felt like it was kind of rushed a little. Maybe 1 more episode to show how things ended would have sufficed. Nonetheless, the actors did a spectacular job, as did Park Hyung Sik (as always <3)
Totally recommend !! 🩷

A very good sageuk / investigation with Park Hyung Sik
PLOT: on her wedding day, the FL, daughter of a governor, sees her entire family die. She decides to flee all those who accuse her, with her servant. She ends up with the Crown Prince (the ML) who gives her a position as eunuch and searches with her for clues about these assassinations and the strange/troubling affairs that are shaking the Court... Conspiracies, influence games, revenge, etc. .The story also highlights the vulnerability (internal and external) of the royal family at this time, and the weight of the great families/clans.
PROS:
- good balance between investigation - humor - action scenes
- The story is carried by Park Hyung Sik (no wonder he received an Award for this role ♡´・ᴗ・`♡) and by FL (Jeon So Nee, actress I didn't know but who is remarkable ).
- Fortunately there is the CL2, excellent, which brings a touch of lightness to this rather dark climate.
- The production is dynamic, the clues are placed in the right place to keep the permanent attention of the viewer.
- The settings, the images are beautiful and some shots are really superb.
- The OSTs are excellent.
CONS:
- A beautiful chemistry between the 2 leads, but really no intimate scene, just a final kiss. It's not enough!!

Actually I get mixed feelings about this drama
First of all, the story is interesting. I watch a lot of drama and in this drama, I didn't guess the culprit until episode 12. They didn't give a hint. Also, I didn't expect the woman plans everything just to sit in the palace. No one realizes what happens in the place. Sorry, but I think this is a little bit silly. I know the king is scared of politicians but he doesn't do anything in the end. He knows the queen came from his enemy's family, but he never doubts his wife. Everyone is very kind and naive in the king family -_-I love female characters. They are strong. Their fighting scene is very funny and active. They are smart. They don't wait for a hero and take their own revenge. They always say what they have in their mind and believe their own way. I really like their independent soul. But in the end they accept everything easily. They kill her all family and she just lets them go. I don't like it.
Romance scenes aren't enough. Prince never shows his feeling very well. We see that the second couple express their feeling more. Ga Ram and Myung Jin show their feelings better.
This drama has humorous. You can laugh a lot. Especially when four people (Crown Prince, Mİn Jae, Ga Ram and Myung Jin ) gather together, they are very funny.
Also Crown Prince's guardian Tae Gang, I see an actor for the first time and he is playing two roles at the same time. I think he has the potential to be a good actor. The first time he played in a very big project and two roles. Everyone cant do that. Respect:)
I know villains lost their home and their family. But also they kill a lot of innocent people. I can say they are right. They are also bad people and don't deserve a happy ending.
Have a nice watch:)

Not much romance but interesting enough
I really like both leads, especially the FL. She had a certain aura about her, no need for overacting, and there was a very calming and peaceful beauty about her. I thought PHS also did well as Crown Prince Lee Hwan. I would have liked to see more romance, a few cliches perhaps ;) but there was that undeniable intensity, attraction and care for one another. The romance was very slow burn, but we do get a sweet kiss only on the final episode. So if you’re looking for romance per se, you won’t find it here. What kept me going was the crime & mystery solving storyline. Found that intriguing and engaging. There were a few different plots and storylines which were interconnected and blended well together 1) the murder of Jae Yi’s family and how she was framed for it 2) which led her to find the crown Prince to help clear her name. That in turn developed into their love story 3) the slaughter of the people of Byeokcheon by Cho won bo 4) the revenge of the people 5) cho won bo’s greed for power of the throne
To watch or not? I would say yes! There was a fair share of fighting as well. The side plots were interesting too. The only parts I didn’t fancy were the ones with Myeong-Jin and his (stupid laugh) hahaha found him annoying. Other than that it was a good solid 8/10 for me ;)

Only the ending part disappointed me.
Many characters are equally important in the story.Crown prince had been wrongly accused of killing his own brother ,he is fighting for his way . On the other side his teacher's daughter also wrongly accused of killing her family . She thought the murder somehow connect with the crown prince .so she had faced so many hardships to reach to the crown prince and to win his trust . On the other hand she is fiancee of crown prince 's best friend . Whole drama revolve around to find the actual killer . The last episode disclosed the murderer.
The only thing the drama didn't show any romance between the leads . Not misunderstand with my words ,I am not talking about romantic scene , both of them have affection towards eachother but neither of them had told to each other about their feeling .
Same thing with the love story of female lead's apprentice and the doctor . Here story was little different they didn't realise that they like each other . Then first she fall in love with him . In the second last episode he realised that she liked him.
Then there third story too which I expect to be fulfil but nothing happened here only one sided love .
All acters were good ,thumbs up to their acting . Story was good but can't be better.

Park Hyung Sik is back with a bang!!
Whooey!!!!!! :D After a LOOOONG wait finally a kick ass FL.LOVED how role has been written and the actress fits to a T.
And of course Park Hyung Sik amongst the MOST talented actors who can hold his act taut and without missing a beat.
He shone in HAPPINESS, Bong Soon, Heirs, and YES got second lead syndrome in Hwarang, stole the show inspite of being the second couple.
He's right up there in acting chops (and yumminess) with Kim Woo Bin / Park Bo Gum / Park Seo Jun / Lee Jun Ho / Nam Joo Hyuk.
And FL we can expect her to make her mark with this show.
Something about her is almost Kim Tae Ri.
How I wish I could have binged on this (all 20 episodes).
The fact that the writer of this show also wrote Romance is a Bonus Book / Discovery of Romance / Because its the First Time each with STRONG WOMEN roles I think this will end up with VERY HIGH ratings. Predicting a mydramalist rating of 8.5/9.0 at the least.
