My favorite

I love this drama, and yes, I am giving it 10/10 all across the board. I have seen every adaptation of this series, the anime, manga, taiwanese, korean and Japanese versions. I will continue to love it, and have seen it over 50 times. The story follows the manga pretty closely, the music is wonderful and catchy, and the actors are wonderful and have great chemistry.

The Taiwanese and Japanese versions are 100x better then the Korean version, I would suggest skipping it as it doesn't cover even half of the story.

Definitely one of the best series I've ever seen, and I'm a huge romcom fan!

JUST WATCH IT!!!!!

It took me a while to actually watch this Drama. I first watched the Korean adaptation first, then the Taiwanese and then the Thai version. At first I didn't think it could get any better than the Korean version and then I watched the Thai version and I thought that was the best it could get.
I started watching the Japanese version maybe 2 or 3 times but couldn't get interested because I though it was just going to be like the other versions I've watched, but I eventually just gave in and decided to finish it. Let me tell you... it was the best decision I ever made. I absolutely LOVE this version.
I could see the ML feelings towards the FL develop throughout the series. In the other adaptations I've watched the ML practically ignores the FL and then at the 2nd or 3rd to last episode he gets hit by some divine intervention and then miraculously falls in love with the FL.
The acting was top notch. I found that there cringe worth scenes weren't as bad as other adaptations and I could relate to the FL feelings.
I was mostly into K-dramas but having watched the Japanese version I'm starting to love J-drama a little more. GREAT drama I tell you. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!

I am literally obsessed with this

I love this drama so much, I have watched and re-watched it multiple times and every time I go back I fall in love with it over and over again.

For some context, I originally watched the anime, then the Korean drama, then the Taiwanese drama and then this one came out about half a year later. In comparison, this is a close tie with the Taiwanese version for me, there are things I like about both of them but I generally come back to this one.

This drama is a take on the haters to lovers trope with one half of the duo being head over heels in love with other. It is pure fluff the whole time and it is just gold getting to watch them gradually fall in love.

This is the first proper straight drama that I have watched.

I am a regualar BL watcher, but I decided to start watching some straight ones even though I dont like them that much. I dont know why, I just wanted to give them a chance. In such an attempt, I watched kakafakaka & sweat and soap which was horrifying to say the least. Really held me from watching straight ones for a while. I have watched Ao Haru Ride which is also very similar to this story; which made me realise that the japanese society really loves hot, aloof and smart male leads. They dont want their male leads to be nice, sweet and anything normal like that...

To say this was a dissapointment is to say the least... I mean, it took them 16 episodes to get together, which is fine, but asking me to believe that the male lead likes the female lead without any actions leading to that point is such a bummer. Its like he did a 180 in the last episode; I mean, there are literally no scenes which show that he even remotely likes her... ultimately, it is a story about a girl, who gets her hopes high, for the littlest acts of kindness, more like pity that he throws at her, and finds her feelings come crashing down, when he shows her how much he cares for her, which is really really negligible, almost at a 0.0000000000000000000000001 %.

the female lead gets her heart broken for almost 50% of the entire series, and for the really, really rude things he says to her - I mean, not caring is something else, he is blatantly, unrepentently rude to her all. the. time. - I am just really surprised how she okayed their marriage.
And because of such a horrible foreword to their relationship, I dont feel happy for them at all...

The worst part is they killed kin-chan in their already fucked-up relationship... I kind of agree with Irie-kun, she is most probably the dumbest person on earth... I mean, she chose you instead of kin-chan, so yeah she is dumb... he is such a sweetheart! he makes her the choicest of foods, gives her enough emotional support, takes her to movies and arcade to cheer her up, even yells at Irie-kun for her!!! If that is not boyfriend material, I dont know what is... and when she utimately chooses Irie-kun, I wanna kill myself for still watching this; I wanna kill her for not treating kin-chan right and I wanna kill Irie-kun for being such a smug bastard.
He is like one of the assholic husbands, who knows their wife wont leave them no matter what, so he can confifently continue to treat them however badly he wishes to. Its like at some point, he is trying to see how much can he hurt kotoko-san, until she finally folds... he hurts her, continues to hurt her and will continue to hurt her till posterity in my opinion... he is sooo not a great male lead... I wanted kin-chan to be the one for kotoko-chan... ultimately goes to show that in japanese society, nice guys always finish last.

I do realise I am an outlier, but this is not a drama for me. I want lots and lots of affection and sweet moments for me to be happy for the couple under consideration. And I am not asking for smut, but I must feel some sort of love between the two, for me to be happy for them...

Django knows mercy, student Irie never!

There is much that is hard to understand. Are women still treated as inferior in Japan? Irie treats the lovely Kotoko like dirt. It is hard to watch his sadism, which he practices from beginning to end, ruthlessly humiliating the poor girl in every possible way. Maybe he should move to Arabia, there the women also have to run 3 meters behind the masters of creation, because they are supposed to be less valuable. He knows no compassion. How will he be a doctor there? Perhaps one should ask such questions to the authors.

He also likes to discriminate against social classes, which he claims to regard as beneath him. Does one live well with such an attitude in Japan?

All of this is supposed to be funny. Obviously, the writers can only realize their kind of wit in a way that hurts people. They probably find it especially funny when someone breaks his neck falling down the stairs.

I also wonder what about this dry technical idiot is supposed to be so attractive to girls? Is he perhaps a charming schmoozer when the camera isn't around?

Amusing is the Irie family, father, mother, the toxic little brother. Especially the mother, a sister of Kotoko in spirit, is cute.

The best version of Ita Kiss

Only japanese dramas and movies can get the mangas right, the slapstick comedy and over exaggerated expressions as depicted in the manga can only get true justice in a jdrama. I have watched all version including the famous korean version and ever thing the korean version lacks is present in this one. I did not like Naoki initially but , yuki is an amazing actor and portrayed the character very well. Irie-kun is not supposed to be an ass, but he is someone who lacks on displaying their emotions, and yuki does a good job in opening the character every episode. kotoko's role tho was a bit exaggerated, she again does the most authentic character.
overall i loved the drama.

Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo - A Timeless Live-Action Marvel for Manga Enthusiasts

"Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo" holds a special place in the hearts of manga enthusiasts and live-action lovers alike, and it's easy to see why. As someone who falls into both categories, this live-action adaptation quickly became a cherished masterpiece that I've rewatched at least five times. Not only did I delve into the original version, but I also explored its various adaptations in different countries.

The story kicks off at a high school entrance ceremony, where we meet Aihara Kotoko, a high school student who might not be the sharpest tool in the shed but possesses a heart brimming with affection. Her world takes a life-altering turn when she sets her eyes on the handsome Irie Naoki. Instantly smitten, Kotoko falls head over heels for him, though she initially keeps her feelings hidden. However, she eventually gathers the courage to confess, only to be met with a harsh rejection from Naoki, who utters those unforgettable words, "I don't like dumb women."

The plot takes an unexpected twist when a meteorite wreaks havoc on Kotoko's house, prompting her and her father to seek shelter with her father's friend. Little does she know that this friend's house is also home to none other than Naoki.

What sets "Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo" apart is its ability to balance humor and emotional depth flawlessly. Kotoko's character, despite her perceived "dumbness," resonates with viewers because she mirrors the human experience. We all make mistakes, encounter setbacks, but ultimately, we find the strength to move forward, often with laughter as our companion. Kotoko embodies the transparent, outgoing spirit that brings joy and contentment to those around her. She represents the genuine, sincere self within us all.

Naoki, on the other hand, stands as Kotoko's polar opposite. He's reserved, even bordering on antisocial, and at times, he raises red flags when it comes to relationships. However, it's this very dichotomy that makes their journey so compelling. They grow together, discovering the unique qualities that make them compatible, despite their apparent differences.

At its core, "Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo" teaches us that love transcends initial impressions and societal norms. Naoki's affection for Kotoko deepens because of her authenticity and the happiness she brings into his life. It's a profound message that underscores the idea that true love sees beyond the surface and appreciates the beauty of a genuine, unfiltered soul.

"Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo" is a timeless marvel that captures the essence of manga while delivering a heartwarming live-action adaptation. With its humor, emotional depth, and a central couple whose journey from opposites to soulmates is a delight to witness, it's a series that lingers in your heart long after the final episode. If you're a fan of romance, comedy, and the enduring power of authenticity in love, this is a must-watch that will continue to charm audiences for generations to come.
