Starting with the storyline, it has a really unique one. I never saw a drama with this kind of story. I would give it a solid 10 if the story would have focused more on what happened five years ago. Like seriously, I need another drama with this kind of plot. The flashbacks showed how interesting the story could be. But the current storyline was still very good, not draggy or boring. The drama having only 16 episodes shocked me at first, cdramas actally have much more episodes. But I liked it that way, without having 60 episodes, the drama didn't have any unnecessary scenes.

The acting was great. Many new faces were in the drama and they did all a great job, especially the main male lead. He potrayed the cold and possessive character very well. I liked the female lead too. Her character wasn't as annoying as some other female leads and the actress played her role very well. Thank god there weren't any cringe scenes. Hope the cast will get more roles in the future, all of them did very well.

The music wasn't something extraordinary, but at the same time I didn't notice anything weird about it, so the music was okay for me. It suited the drama.

Am I gonna rewatch this one? Probably not, but sometimes I think about dramas I watched a long time ago and suddenly I have to rewatch these kind of dramas again. So yeah, this drama could be one of those.

Overall, I really liked it. (Could also explain why I binge-watched it in two day lol.) As someone who is tired of the almost same plot in every drama, this one was really refreshing.

One time watch

I was scrolling through mydramalist and the plot summary of this drama caught my attention. Had high expectations from the drama. I enjoyed the drama but I don't think I would be able to rewatch it.
I found the story decent. Not a very novel story. I didn't feel there were any major epic plot twists. If you have watched a few dramas you will feel the story was kinda predictable.
The story is a thriller romance. The acting of the cast is good. The antagonist could have been done better. The chemistry between the leads was good.
Found the 2nd leads story very cute. I felt the 2nd female lead and the daughter were adorable but also a bit annoying.

Overall a good drama.

Only stayed for the smokin hot bad boy

Likes: Tsao Yu Ning is smokin hot as the bad boy bodyguard Li Teng. There's a reason girls flock towards bad boys and he captured all of those reasons. The skinship was swoony and the desire was hot.

Dislikes: All was fine until around episode 10 where everything just got incredibly cheesy. It became like a low budget soap opera. The greasy confessions had me running for the exit.

I honestly would have dropped this drama had it not been for Tsao Yu Ning's bad boy intensity. The tension was hot, but it wasn't enough to save the lameness of the story after ep9. And while I liked that the FL was believable in her self defense moves, overall I just found her meh.

This drama is no like other. I love that drama timeline when they show the present and flashback a bit and there are some stories between them. The previous story is not like typical stories eg childhood friends. They met accidentally when the ML has undercover mission. In the present times, they realize that they fall in love for each other. The way that they try to start to confess is my fav. I mean, the FL didn't hide that she love the ML and also ML confess that he like FL too.

I love the story storyline that have suspense but not too much. The fact that the drama is shorter than other dramas bring happiness to audience bcs we don't like dragging in the drama bcs it make us bored. Probably i'll watch again ?

Very enjoyable

I didn't have great expectations for this show but I ended up liking it a lot.

Although the ML seems cold and cruel and like he isn't listening to the FL Ruan Nian Chu, he is trying to protect the her from secret danger that he never tells her about ahead of time. Which seems pointless because the FL was written as clever, understanding, and reasonable. The sexual tension between the characters was steamy but would have been better if she didn't think he was a crazy ex who wouldn't let go. (His constant whispering near her ear gave me the vapors *fans self.*)

I loved Fei Fei as a friend, she and Ruan Nian Chu were cute together. However, she was ultra annoying, childish, and pushy with her "parking prince." I really hate seeing a grown a** woman behave like a 5 year-old to get a man's attention, it's gross. I was not rooting for the relationship between her and Jiang Hao to develop at all. And his daughter was terrible, sorry I do not enjoy seeing entitled bratty kids ruining things and being coddled, I am here to be entertained, not annoyed. That whole subplot was full of annoying behavior from annoying characters.

The overall plot is not bad, it is enough to keep you interested between ML/FL interactions. It is a nice, light, not too full of drama show. I liked that the FL would just say what she thought, was smart enough to pick up on clues, and would stand up for herself. I left each episode feeling satisfied.

My heart skip the beat for the romance!

I love the romantic moments between the main couple lead, it’s so hot and passionate.
Li Teng is successfuly become a very mysterious guy at the beginning. He looks fierce, independent and romantic.

But the second couple lead is actually cute and make me want to see more from them too. I’m in love with Li Teng in the first half of the story, but slowly Jiang Hao grab my attention. He is soft hearted and cute like a puppy.. but so addicting to see him "playing hard to get" in romance.

Overall the story is good, more focusing on the romance between the destinied couple.
However it’s more about the romance and there is less action scenes compared to what has been illustrated from drama poster.

Maybe because the episode is only 16 and the duration is only 30 minutes per episode, I feel the plot is a bit rushing and not really show in details about some characters.

I don’t really like the female casts' make up and outfit in several scenes. But it’s a good thing that their acting can cover it up.

Some soft selling of sponsor product (shampoo) scenes are too annoying and too much. Come on! it must be not that obvious to sell the product.

Now is about the enemies character. Too bad that the female antagonist is ended just like that.. I’m expecting more action scenes from her. It’s not really cool to always bring the cross bow wherever she goes.. but she didn’t successfuly deliver a strong women figure through lacking action scenes and just with the same 1 weapon.
The main antagonist Tuo Li is also too cute to be an enemy. His acting is not really that terrifying like psychopath. And.. It’s too easy to defeat him just in 1 last episode.

The incident from 5 years ago is not well described. Luckily the main leads successfuly can deliver the obsession feeling and emotions through some extra scenes.

All the bad guy from the past are dead, and the new enemy is created after that. Hmm.. but it’s not look really like a strong and scary sindicate like has been told. I’m expecting more tragic, broken hearted and sad scenes in their current period with satisfying ending.

In the last scene.. the main leads only fight with Tuo Li.. meanwhile we know he could be more powerful with lot of mafia as his pupils.

The another lacking point is all cast voices are dubbed. I watch the behind the scene videos of this drama from youtube and I realize that their true voices are better. If they are using their own voice, it must be more realistic and beautiful. Li Teng’s real voice is even hotter!

I love the body guards’ friendship! They are all good looking.. it just so lacking in their costume and weapons.
I think if they have more action scenes like chasing bad guys by driving expensive cars in the road, or riding big motorcycles.. it must be more interesting and elegant. They are a well known body guard company after all.

Actually they can show more action scenes using those high tech protection devices that the body guard company provide, then it will be more thrilling!

Anyway.. no matter what, this drama is successfuly make my heart skip the beat, and I wish they will have another season with the same casts. The ending is satisfying and sweet. The drama ost songs are beautiful too. Salute for the good acting of main leads.

Like most people who watched the drama in the past week, they probably came due to a viral YouTube clip of the male protagonist fake-forcing himself on the female protagonist so that the enemy would believe that she is his. That’s what caught my attention and so I decided to watch it. It had aired back in April and May so all the episodes were already fully subbed. A lot of reviews said that it’s one of the most underrated dramas this year. I actually really enjoyed it. It’s only 16 short episodes (at roughly 30 minutes each).

The female protagonist is Ruan Nian Chu. She’s a theater actress. About 5 years ago, she had gone abroad in SE Asia and was kidnapped. She fell into the water and was rescued by Lee, an undercover agent. In order to protect her from the other gangsters, he faked sexually assaulting her and making her his woman. She stayed with him in his bungalow and the two developed a friendship that lead to love. During this time, there are two important characters that appear. Wa Sha is a female gangster who’s in love with Lee, the male protagonist. It sounds like he used her to get into the gang. She is the niece of the gang leader and hates Ruan Nian Chu because she could see that Lee likes her.

The other character is Tuo Li. A young slave/servant who befriends Ruan Nian Chu. He falls in love with her despite the age gap between them. His crush is found out by Lee who warns him that the two of them are from different worlds. During a business transaction between the gangsters on a yacht, the chip that held all the illegal dealings was missing. This was actually a setup by Wa Sha to frame Ruan Nian Chu. She kidnapped Ruan Nian Chu and brought her onto the boat. Lee was able to rescued her and tossed her out of the yacht with a life jacket on right before the yacht exploded. Ruan Nian Chu isn’t sure if Lee is dead but she spends the next 5 years waiting for him.

In present time, Ruan Nian Chu is at blind date when she sees someone who looks like Lee. She chased after him but he disappeared. She finds out from her boss that the actress who they made popular is ignoring calls from them after promising to act in their play. She goes to the sponsor event. But she’s not allowed to enter without an invite. She calls her best friend whose family happens to be the sponsor. Thus, she gets to enter. When she confronts the actress, she is brushed off. She sees Lee who’s working there as security detail. However, he pretends not to know her. He tells her that his name is Li Teng and she must have confused him with someone else. The actress throws the contract into the pool and tells her that if she can get it, the actress will sign the contract. Knowing that she can’t swim, she proceeds to jump into the pool. She is rescued by someone and it turns out to be Jiang Hao, another security guard. She is bummed that it’s not Lee.

Ruan Nian Chu has a pot of forget-me-nots that Lee had given her. It was the only thing she took with her when she left the island. Her boss was re-potting the flowers when he noticed a chip. He plugged it into his phone but thought that the chip was not working so he unplugged it. This was enough to show Li Teng and his crew that the chip was located in the theater company. Thus, they realized that Ruan Nian Chu must have accidentally brought it with her when she left the island. Li Teng set up a blind date between him and Ruan Nian Chu. The two dates but Ruan Nian Chu will find out that Li Teng approached her to get the chip. Although she was upset at first, she eventually decides to trust him.

We find out that after the boat exploded, Lee was rescued and in a coma for 2 years. He was disabled and worked hard to be able to walk again. On the day he went to find her, he received a call saying that the gangsters know that he’s still alive. So in order to protect her, he doesn’t approach her. One of his fellow agent brothers died. His wife became crazy and was locked in a mental institute and his baby daughter had to be adopted by Jiang Hao. Li Teng doesn’t want that for Ruan Nian Chu.

We get the return of Tuo Li who is actually not a slave but the son of the gangster boss. He blames Li Teng but he’s also in love with Ruan Nian Chu. He shows up again as a doctor at the mental institute. He had Ruan Nian Chu kidnapped and in order to rescue her, Li Teng had to bring 3 of his men with him. They’re supposed to fight to their deaths. However, in the end, Li Teng rescued Ruan Nian Chu and Tuo Li ends up unconscious. This was all pre-planned by Li Teng and his team as they were aware of what Tuo Li was planning.

Short and a very interesting drama

I honestly LOVESS this drama so much, but I give it a 9 because it doesn't feel complete. The plotline could have elaborate more on what happen when there FL was on the island.

They should have made an episode where they retell what happens from the beginning when the FL fell into the sea all the way through until the FL was rescued, that way the viewer could see why the FL was really in love with the ML aside from us knowing that he saved her every time she's in danger and took care of her while she was there.

Overall, I recommend this drama so much to people that want to have a short and simple drama to watch during their free time. It's a really sweet drama with a bit of mystery in it.
