Plot + review
Plot: This drama tells the story about a group of survivors who have to fight for their lives against zombies that are created when humans breathe mysterious dark smoke from a sinkhole. Lee Hwa Sun is a police detective in the Seoul regional investigation unit. Her life is turned upside down when she receives a phone call from her husband’s murderer, telling her to come to “Mujishi.” However, the people in Mujishi have been transformed into monsters. She must not only fight to survive but also battle her fear in order to capture her husband’s murderer. Yoo Tae Han is a native of Mujishi and a wreck car driver. He has a carefree personality and likes to joke around, but he has a strong sense of justice. He quit being a police officer due to a scandal caused by a misunderstanding, but he is proud of his days in the force. When he meets Lee Hwa Sun in the chaos of Mujishi, he devotes his life to saving others from danger.Review: It was quite good. I always loved survival dramas or even movies. But i don’t like when the lighting dark in the drama, it needs a little bit of light. And this drama was as dark as the title ‘Dark Hole’. It was a little bit difficult to understand, but in the end I understood. The ending was a little sad, but good.

Weak
It had a promising start but ended up being another incoherent and illogical mess just like its predecessors from the same genre. It would have been somewhat fine if they didn't go the sci-fi route and kept it pure mystery/horror with a strong emphasis on escaping the horrors instead of trying to explain it. Even with 12 episodes only it felt long because they didn't do a good job handling the mystery. The cast was fine but nothing special.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
That's saying something considering the insane parade of elements and genres the show rained down upon us from the beginning. At one point a zombie film, a monster flick. a post-apocalyptic survival tale, a revenge melo, and a crime thriller, in the first episode alone, the show gave us:
A hole
Solar flares
A serial killer
Black crazy CGI mist in a mysterious crystal
Zombies
A tentacle monster
And that was only in episode 1.
Kim Ok Bin is quite good as the calm and rational, emotionally-controlled detective, Lee Hwa -sun, who gets caught in the small town apocalypse while hunting down her husband's murderer (the ever present Korean serial killer). And Lee Joon-hyuk is also good in his now-patented role of restrained no-nonsense badass, Yoo Tae-han. But their characters and performances are not enough to save a show that quickly degenerates into a mindless morass of elements ripped from other shows.
A strange mix of 80s monster flick, Stephen King novel, and Korean drama elements, Dark Hole is pretty much a mess. And while the first week shoots for moody and atmospheric and almost makes it, week two degenerates into a boring succession of post-apocalyptic cliches that mostly involve people running around in the dark. It also makes little sense since the mist that people inhale makes them hallucinate and act in response to a a traumatic memory. But by episode 3 they're just lurching around like classic zombies, hunting down and killing those who are uninfected.
I'm wondering if we have Stranger Things to blame, since many of the elements in this are taken from the same classic 80s scifi, fantasy and horror film sources of that show. But Dark Hole doesn't have its charm, its genuine sense of menace nor its appealing characters. And weirdly it also doesn't have the usual OCN gloss.
So rather than dropping it because it's a bit of a mess, I think I'm mostly dropping it because I don't care.

OCN cinematic experience as always
The real OCN is back again, the powerhouse of dark and gritty genre! They've bumped up the cinematic quality great enough to rival any action thriller movies this time around. The monstrosity level for the final battle is absolutely massive. The storyline is also multi directional, instead of solely focusing on the fight of monsters/mutants, it has a deep dive into mystical forces and astral battle. That's an unconventional take on these kind of 'undead' genre. It's definitely another great watch in OCN's library.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
