Many reviewers are describing this drama as unique, but I don't agree. I would say this drama is classic, filled with standard drama elements like betrayal, manipulation, love triangles, amnesia, revenge, and the quest for power. What "Innocent Man" does well is that it avoids being predictable, and I was hooked from the very beginning. The story does require you to really suspend belief, and accept some pretty unbelievable actions, but isn't that what good drama is all about? The writers also created some truly multidimensional characters, with a lot of depth, and the perfect cast was found to portray them.

Song Joong Ki is now one of my favorite actors. I loved him in Sungkyunkwan Scandal, and I am shocked by how different he is in this drama. I loved seeing him go from innocent optimist to master manipulator as Kang Ma Roo. I liked never quite knowing his character's intentions, yet he always stayed true to character. He was well matched with Moon Chae-won, who had an equally challenging character to portray. This is the 3rd drama I've seen her in, yet she was unrecognizable at first. I think that is the sign of a truly great actress. They played off of each other well, though one shouldn't expect too much cute chemistry. The romance in this is very heavy, which brings me to Park Si-yeon's role. She does a good job as the easy to hate Han Jae Hee, without making her character too one-note. The characters have enough flaws and redeeming qualities to make their love triangle intense.

The supporting cast is great as well. Lee Kwang Soo & Lee Yoo Bi, as Jae Gil & Choko, had the tough job of bringing some light moments to this intense drama. I also liked Lee Sang Yeob, who was great, but more subtle in his role as Lawyer Park.

My opinion about the music is mixed. I thought it complimented the story well, but one of the main songs sounded a little to close to one of the songs from "Secret Garden". The music wasn't original enough to get higher than a good rating from me.

Overall, I was very entertained by this drama. I can't agree that it's one of the best, but I can't think of many flaws. The only glaring issue I had with this drama was the overuse of flashbacks. Every episode seemed to rely on multiple flashbacks. Sometimes they even flashed back to the previous scene... and more than once. I had to take a story point away for that. After a while it seemed like time filler, not a storytelling device.

I don't think I would watch this again, only because much of the excitement for me was about guessing what would happen next. This drama kept me guessing until the very last moment, and no, I was not disappointed with the ending. I think the slight change in style made sense in the context of what was going on. I was also satisfied with the closure given to the main characters. I'll even forgive Eun Gi for being so ridiculously blind!!! I'll blame that on the accident. lol.

If I do eventually watch it again it will be for Song Joong Ki's performance.

This is an intense, emotional, romantic, melodrama, though I didn't cry at all. For fans of that style, this is a must see. I'd also recommend it to anyone bored by dramas being too predictable. "Innocent Man" won't disappoint you.

Story: The story is just amazing I always compare this to Bridal Mask nothing similar but...these 2 dramas were both really epic. There's a bunch of stuff going on in the story , so can't really explain. There's love, hate, twists and big character changes and surprises during the drama. After the first 3 episodes I garantee everyone that watched past these 3 eps will be hooked!

Acting : I watched it for Song Joong Ki and Moon Chae Won. Song Joong Ki became one of my all time favorite actor after this. His character has so many sides to it. He's super smart and makes each episode have cliffhangers. His character is dark and deep, but he has a lighter side to him as well.

Moon Chae Won has always been my favorite actress ever since The Princess' Man ...the whole cast just brings together the perfect amount of intensity and emotion. Kwang Soo did an awesome job as a friend here as well as Park Si Yeon.

Music: it's XIAH Junsu and Song Joong Ki of course it's a 10. The opening is pretty epic too.

Rewatch: I hate rewatching but I will watch this again one day

First of all let`s talk about the story, the actors/actresses and the music:

+++++++Simple Summary, Deep Connections++++++

We all know that dramatic structure consists of exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and denouement/resolution.... but for me each episode was a climax. You know what I mean? Every episode that I watched, i felt the tension, the hatred, the thrill, the excitement, the depression, the frustration, the sadness, the happiness, and the enjoyment, in short super mixed emotion. The suspenseful event happened unpredictably and unexpectedly. oohhh yyeeeaaaahhhh!, I'm hooked. The first thing that come through my mind "oh man, let me see the next episode if my guess was wrong!" then after a week " oh yeah I'm very right, all my guesses were wrong". So I'm thinking behind with confusions dragging my self along with the story till the last episode knowing that i will never guess it right. There are many special things that i liked about this drama but I could not figure out what are those...just see for yourself!

But I am positive that every time I watched this drama I unconsciously following/copying the facial expressions of the characters. Gosh, be aware,ok? others can see you. for example: Whenever I see _******_ angry expression, I grind my teeth, smirk or grin unknowingly that I followed his facial gestures too. Every time _******_ is having a bad time, I frowned or grimaced because I just saw her like that, I felt i was the one who is in her place. That make sense, aye? The portrayal of the characters is felt and not over used in the story. They matured as the story went through (both villain and protagonists). The main characters were kinda extrovert type of person. Limited thoughts and conversations though their dialogues and lines meant a lot beyond simplicity.

I heard intense music when tensions between characters took place. It might be repetitive but it still sounded so suspenseful that I never get irritated after so many times. There was also the song of the main character and that song was used wisely (they played it when KM and EG is involved). So this drama got 10 for me because they deserved it. Very well executed as mentioned from other post.

lol! I liked the fact that the last 3-4 minutes or so of each drama was purposely shown accordingly. When new episode aired, sudden twists occurred. Those 3-4 minutes from the previous episode would showed up again with added scenes in-between that makes the story more interesting. Unlike any other dramas that just continues where it left off.

First Impression Lasts... go for Episode 1
If you were not impressed enough... go for Episode 2
If you are still confused... go for Episode 3
You are not convinced yet?... try Episode 4
Oh come on, try a little harder... watch Episode 5-10
You want more?!...time to follow your instinct.
Not enough effort to watch?!... okay then, skip everything then go for the last episode (ep 20)*if ever the last episode impressed you, you might wanna consider the first episode instead.

I already watched this once so it is enough because i won't be thrilled as much as I was before.
Simple truth: I knew what would happen next, same story line.

Great story!! Excellent portrayals of character!! This series has a lot to offer to its' viewers. Story wise, I may say it has loads of impelling scenes. More so, you'll get to experience affectingly the journey of each characters. SJK and MCW were a revelation in this project. Depth in their performance was evidently demonstrated. Plus, the team up is so solid! Great chemistry.. Never forget the supporting cast who as well were standout in this project!

This drama is a masterpiece.
Definitely the best drama aired 2012. Haven't seen drama like this before. It is very unique and great.

Story: Story is very different and addicting. It made me laugh and cry, feel sad and happy and even nervous, confused and annoyed at some point. I didn't get bored even once. There is lot of things going on all the time and I personally like it very much because it gives lots of things to think about continually.

Cast/acting: Characters are very well created and acted. Cast is just brilliant.
Big plus to main characters that are smart and have big personalities.

Music: I really loved the music in this drama. Perfect match!

Rewatch value: I finished this about half an hour ago and I'm dying to watch it again soon.

From beginning to end, I loved this show. There wasn't one episode where I didn't feel the plot line remained static. Awesome!

Story:::

From poor love sick boy to rich heart breaking man. This guy was the main lead in a story about revenge, murder and betrayal. Oh man was this story written well. At times you had no idea where the plot would move to. The relationships were defined but had so many crazy cracks and potholes only near the end did you realize who was being paired up. Well written story and awesome cliff hangers!

Charcter/Actors::

Holy poop. These actors are good at times you hate their character at other times you love em! Jae Hee was the most evil dispicable selfish woman, and the lead actress did everything right to portray that! Maru omg..KANG MA ROOO! Awesome..just awesome.

Well done for the whole cast!

Music:: Fit the mood, and was emotional when need be.

Rewatch:: Nope, I don't really rewatch..

When you find yourself laughing like a maniac while watching a show that is described as melodrama, then you know you’re in for a wild ride and some good entertainment. Good in a bad way.

I started this show not knowing that it is, in fact, a full blown makjang with all its tropey glory and infamy. The overdramatics of it all was amusing enough for me to totally enjoy the first half of this drama. We had manslaughter, injustice, betrayal, revenge, rich heiress, poor man, terminal illness, greed and jealousy. It was ridiculous, engaging and surprisingly fun, but oh so outdated at the same time. And quite frankly one’s patience must be enormous to be able to put up with it for the course of 20 episodes. Especially after the halfway mark when things starts to get progressively more frustrating. Because what was missing in that perfect recipe for a succesfull pre 2015 korean melodrama? A M N E S I A. Not only once, but twice!

To be fair the premise of this story was not that bad Not innovative? Yes, but still it could be a solid melodrama for those who are into this type of stories. But to be good, or even just decent, it requires the existence of characters with rich personality and plot that doesn’t rely on cliches/tropes too much. Unfortunately this drama went overboard with the latter to the point of absurdity which made the whole thing look shallow and ridiculous. Too many cliches, handed too forcefully. I know it's a base of all makjangs, but at some point it felt like writers were beating the ground because the horse was no longer there.

I appreciate the fact the writers took a time to write quite complex characters and avoided the typical binary division of good vs evil. It goes deep into the psyche of the main characters, shows all sides of their nature and psychology behind their actions. They are deeply flawed, cosumed by their human desires and emotions that they cannot control as much as they would like to. I especially enjoyed the main antagonist, Han Jee He, because she was not evil for the sake being evil, her motivation was understandable considering her position, experiences and ambitions, so the reasoning behind her actions was crystal clear to me. Same goes to Kang Ma Ru, the protagonist of the story. Again, I don't condone what he did, but I was able to understand why he behaved like he did and why he went so far for his revenge. I can't say the same about Seo Eun Gi, the final element of this convoluted triangle, because I truly feel like she was just a plot device. Her character didn't have any kind of real development nor profoundness. She was just there for Ma Ru to reconsider his path and for Jee He to finally give up.
So why am I not satisfied with the characters here as well? Because it all went to shit after couple of episodes.
I feel like Eun Gi's amnesia was the turning point of this show. Not only cliches started popping out from left and right and absorbed the story completely, but character's behaviour stopped making any sense. All of their previous ambitions and motivations disappeared and the show focused solely on character's mad thirst for pathologically twisted need of owning someone that was clearly mistaken for love. Like they were completely different people and their personalities were switched. On top of that none of these relationships were sane, as they were built on lies, possessiveness, abuse and manipulation. And it could have been an actually good addition to the psychological portait of our main characters, but came out as contradictory, sometimes highly irrational and - combined with gazillion tropes - overdramatic and not convining at all.

Acting was suitable for this type of stale production. Overally decent, but theatrical, overdone or completely wooden in more challenging scenes. I truly loved the music though, especially the intro with accordion, that's the kind of dramatics I expect from shows like this.

With that said, I am happy that I've watched this now, because it truly made me appreciate the progress kdramas have made with the quality of storytelling, directing and acting as well. I'm also happy that modern makjangs are more self-aware and writers are more open use the concepts of this genre for artistic purposes.

Well, I have had mixed feelings for this drama. I liked the idea of revenge, and I really wanted to watch it. It started nicely, I really enjoyed the first episodes.
Then, it got kind of boring, and I thought of dropping it. I'm not really a dropper, so I just went on watching. Then it got interesting again, until a certain point, when they had to deal with many company matters, which, in my opinion, weren't really relevant. In the last few episodes, I felt that not much was going on. I think that they should have made it a 16 episodes drama. 16 episodes would have been enough. Even if it had 20 episodes, the ending felt very rushed, and many things were left unclear.
The acting was amazing. Song Joong Ki did an amazing job! In the beginning I thought that he was not that great, but plain. And then, I got kind of annoyed with his character, because I never knew what he was up to. So, his acting was amazing, he really got in the skin of Ma Roo, who is able to do anything to get what he wants, no matter what that means. Beautiful acting!
Moon Chae Won was also very good, I really enjoyed watching her, and how she changed throughout the story. Park She Yeon was great, even if I hated her character, somehow, at certain parts, I got to feel pity for her. Every actor with his character got into my heart. Lee Kwang Soo was amazing, I really liked his character, and I also read that he is best friends with Song Joong Ki in real life.
I enjoyed the music, it was nice.
Rewatch value? Hmm, I don't think I would rewatch this drama soon, because at some points it got me really bored, and I really struggled to finish it at the points.
Overall, it was a nice drama, with a potential. Beautifully done, I really emphasized with the characters and what they felt. I gave it an 8

Of all the Korean Drama, this is a drama that YOU'LL NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT.

Because of this, you will be attached and eager to know what is the next episode.

Salute to the writer, Lee Kyung-hee, this is one of the best story ever.

Also, this is the 1st drama of Song Joong Ki that i've watched.
What can I say? Bravo! Wow! Fantastic!
This man is really talented. And good looking too...

Both Moon Chae-won and Park Si-yeon, are great on their roles too.

Another reason why i love this drama is because of the character of each casts. The anger and the love that they feel is really undeniable.

No doubt that this drama ranked NUMBER ONE in its timeslot for eight consecutive weeks until its finale.

And no doubt that Song Joong Ki won three times for Top Excellence Award.

Wow I can hear my sister screaming at me already for giving these a 9. Well it was a really good drama one of the few in truth that have really grab my attention this year and made it marathon it in one night without even skipping episode, but still it did not get to 10 material for me. Yes the acting his good, the hateful people do all did a great job at being hateful and disgusting, the pitiful people at being pitiful, and the funny part were indeed funny. So if this drama is such a must watch why did it get a 9 only. Well simply because I was outrage at the sentencing the bad guys got that the only thing I could say was really!!!!, I also thought that some part just really dragged on for too long and finally the ending was a little confusing for me. But other than that I just came to add my too cents and say that if you are on the mood for a good directional drama, with a strong acting, eye candy, perfect ost well you have found your drama.

I watched this Drama the first time two years ago after it ended. I love melodramas and this was the most important aspect because of I watched "Innocent Man".

Story: I like dramatic stories and dramas with the 'Revenge" Theme are most of the time dramatic. The Story was very good. It was very exciting and didn't become boring. At the end of every Episode I thought "Now I have to know what will happen next".

Acting/Cast:
Song JoongKi is one of my favourite Actors but this Drama was my first with him. Because of this Dramas I like him very much and watch all Dramas in which he starred. In my opinion he acts perfectly. The role of the Man who wants to take Revenge on a woman suits him the best. I know that some people doesn't like him because of his 'Babyface', but I think this role is perfect for him. Moon ChaeWon is a very good actress and she plays her role very good. But I think also, that her acting gets better with every episode. Lee Kwangsoo plays very good, too and I liked his role very much. The rest of the cast was good, too.

Music:
The music suits the Drama very much, because it is dramatical. Especially the Music at the end of the episodes is very nice.

Rewatch Value:
I watched this Drama two times, but I knw that I will watch it again.

This Drama is one of the Dramas I liked very much. It is perfect, so I give it 10 out of 10.

One thing I want to say about this drama - even if this isn't your type (melodrama with lots of backstabbing and revenge isn't my thing either), you will probably still love it, so give it a chance. I don't really like melodramas unless they're done really well, but damn was this one done well.

The acting is one of the best things about Nice Guy. It's really hard to find so many GOOD actors on one drama together, but here all the main actors were perfect. I didn't really like the acting of the guy who played Lawyer Ahn, but I've been told he does act well in other dramas so I'll let that slide.

Overall, the writing, directing, acting, EVERYTHING in Nice Guy is perfect. And of course it doesn't hurt that the main character is so damn attractive. ;) I'd recommend this drama to anyone and everyone, honestly. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting more at the end of every episode. Watch it! You won't regret it.

Rating: 10.5 :')
