One of the best romcoms I have seen!
If you are looking for a romcom full of heart-racing cute scenes, hilarious jokes, and a great story, you are at the right place. The Romance of Tiger and Rose (RTR) will not disappoint to provide all types of audiences an enjoyable viewing experience.Let me start what I love about this drama:
♡ The creative world setting:
With so many costumes dramas get produced these days, time-travels are not new. However, the female lead Chen Qian Qian will have to survive in a city in which the role of male and female are reversed (the rose city). Imagining that this world exists in an ancient environment builds up the curiosity about how she will survive there. This provides a novel touch to the drama. I would almost watch a story just about this city itself. I appreciate that despite a comical and foolish nature of a romcom, the makers use a world setting to indirectly criticize the inbalance and biases existing in historical and even in the present world. Coming from a Chinese costume drama that is usually scrutinized by various types of censorships, this gives me hope in the future of the Chinese drama world.
♡ The pacing and hilarious jokes:
I cannot remember the last time to be this entertained by a drama. Next to the time-travel aspect, there is also the fact that the female protagonist knows she is stuck in her own script. Thus, the 4th wall between viewers and characters is continually being broken - a brand new way that feels refreshed. Then there are these a bit stupid but hilarious supporting characters such as the two close footmen of the main leads or the mountain bandit leader. Even when the plot became more serious towards the end, they manage to pull off a very amusing scene between the lords of the two cities.
The pacing of this drama is swift (e.g., it took the female lead about 5 min to realize she is stuck in her own script), and 24 episodes are quick to absorb. The turns in events are not expected but still very logical. The makers use the right storytelling methods to build suspense and release anxiety quickly enough (e.g., by clarifying misunderstandings between the leads).
♡ The switch in roles between male and female leads; their chemistry:
I have never watched a Zhao Luo Si-led drama though I have heard great things about her (and that she has had a bite of the cutest actors nowadays, including my favorite Xu Kai.. arrg). After watching RTR, I finally got to know why she is this popular. She has a cute round face that does not appear to be sculptured or perfect. There is no idol aura in her acting, and she does not refrain from pulling off all kinds of facial expressions. This makes her acting very natural. ZLS is well-known for her dorky, adorable, slight foolish but pure-hearted characters. One can see that CQQ's personality assembles ZLS in real life, so you cannot help but like her.
However, I was most surprised by the performance of the young actor Ding Yu Xi playing Han Shuo. At the start, I found his acting a bit stiff, but he soon showed his other sides: cold and determined, kind and sweet, funny and dorky, strong and protective. The makers purposely switched the script between the female and male leads, letting Han Shuo chase the female lead for the most of the drama and show this cute and dorky part of his personality. And this is so irresistible! My heart soon was taken away by Han Shuo and his sweetness. I think I have not experienced this kind of heart racing and pain for a long time. His and CQQ's chemistry is top, so that some drama reviewers believed DYX really fell in love with ZLS. I started to rewatch the drama even before the final episodes were out just to watch these two lovebirds. I sincerely hope DYX becomes more popular from this drama, so he gets to try out various roles as I see endless possibilities for this 25 years old actor.
Now I few words why I did not give the drama a 10 (I really wanted to...!):
❤ ︎Plot holes in the world setting:
Despite my liking for the world setup, there are few plot bugs to this arrangement that could have been more thought through. For example, militarism is considered the main symbol of power, even in the rose city does not make sense. I agree that women can be equally talented and passionate about militarism, but retain this concept for a female-led society is a bit shallow thinking.
Also, why would the musical concubines behave this feministic? Why do they play music in the first place (which is the same art as female concubines in ancient times)? Why can't they perform arts that are "more masculine" and appreciated by women? I wished there could have been more creativity to some of the details given the stage was all set.
❤ ︎Losing the grip towards the end:
Though this drama does not have a lousy tail, it did disappoint me a bit towards the end. The story continued to pace very fast from one surprise to the other without the full logic. The behaviors of lead and supporting characters became less rational so that I even became confused at the end what QCC really wanted to achieve. Also, the ending is up for interpretation of the viewers. It can either be read as a happy end and that there has been a bug in the character setup of Han Shuo or that there is no problem in the character setup. It can also be read as a mixed ending. The fact that there are so many somewhat different interpretations of the ending deducts a few points for me.
Overall, I would recommend this drama to anyone who loves romcom but cannot stand draggyness or sudden change of theme from comedy to tragedy. Once again, it has also proven to us that it's not about the budget as this drama clearly did not have a big one... Do not hesitate and let the world of Tiger and Romance take you away.

(❛◡˂̵ ̑̑✧) time travelling fruit
another time traveling drama from our time travelling princess, zhao lu si! female lead falls into the world of her own written story as the villian, having supposed to die off early but tries to navigate her own plot to avoid getting killed. everything is reversed where women have the most power, taking jabs at how silly our modern values of gender & equality are. nothing felt too "draggy" and its a really cute drama. the main leads (and the entire cast for that matter) are adorable and their chemistry is really natural! ( •͈ 𓎺 •͈ )the comedy might not be for everybody and even though the plot is nothing exceptional, its a refreshing and fun watch which makes it worth a try! just don't take this one too seriously (because the drama doesn't even take itself seriously,,) if you're in for a nonsensical, light-hearted romcom, then i would recommend this show.

Carpe Vinum
This is certainly a toast! The chemistry’s between main leads are just so adoring... bickering session is on another level, which is a high bar. Yes, Ryan and Lusi is on-point portraying the romance between Han Shuo and Qian Qian love story. The classic style is still there to spice up the whole wondering world of wuxia. All the supporting cast has genuine vibes which creates catchy phrases and puts your giggles on-the-go.
Fun and adoring... Costumes are great, very light and satisfactory. But I can’t help to wonder, what if it was set with more vibrant color and regal accessories. You know, the whole magnitude of Chinese wuxia wardrobe and set design. Also, in-depth dialogue since imaginatively Qian Qian came from the future.
Overall, I’ll rewatched it again in any given day. I’m already addicted with their visuals and sweetness.
Looking forward for Ryan acting in next project, that kid still got lots in shop to show... more brooding perhaps please ???

Absolutely amazing
As someone who isn’t really a fan of historical c dramas cz they kinda bore me I was reluctant but so glad I gave it a go cz it was so worth it.The actors as expected of Lusi and Ding Yuxi were absolutely amazing and I dt think anyone could hv done it better. The plot was sooo nice perf amount of sweet moments and I was rarely disappointed.
I’m still til now rewatching few eps as they were my fav and I hv only ofc few complaints with the how Qian Qian first liked the teacher dude that really irritated me as Han Shuo continuously tried to care for her and be nice although at the beginning he seemed a bit of a cruel character him on the inside was quite literally the sweetest he has such a nice personality and I was so annoyed that she didn’t realise that and ofc she was trying to get out of the story so wanted to finish the plot but she didn’t realise that by pushing him to Chu Chu when he didn’t even care Abt her hurt him and I really wish she saw that earlier.
Other than that it was absolutely amazing and really hope u guyz enjoy❤️❤️

Story:
This is the first drama in a long time to hook me straight from the beginning. No "well, you just have to be patient and get through the first couple episodes and then it gets real good". No. It's instantly a drama you want to binge. So it was dreadful waiting for the episodes to come out and get subbed. I would check every day and be so excited to see new additions. I can't tell you how low my expectations for Chinese dramas have been for a while now. This completely flipped everything and now future Chinese dramas and dramas in general need to watch out because I've been reenergized and have had a taste of the best. No longer will I tolerate bad.
Now the ending. This is the best ending to a drama I've seen in a long time. It ended perfectly and left me longing for nothing. Well I'll always be longing for something after a drama ends but this didn't make me long unnecessarily. Not once did this drama feel draggy or boring. Not once. I'm so happy with it.
Acting:
Oh my the acting. Let's talk about the lead first. Zhou Lu Si is one of my favorite Chinese actresses but she delivered everything and more than I expected from her. This is definitely her best work and nothing felt awkward. Through this drama I've discovered a great young actor to look out for in the future: Ryan Ding. He has so much potential and fits into his characters so well. Not once did he fall short to Zhou Lu Si's performance or vice versa. I was extremely happy with their acting. Don't even get me started on their wonderful chemistry.
Now let's get into the supporting characters: my favorite. The casting director must have the eyes of God for they picked the best out there. Every—and I mean every—supporting character I saw in this show were never overshadowed by the leads. It was almost like they lived and breathed their characters. I credit them for the reason this show was never boring to watch. They performed spectacularly. The best supporting cast I've seen in any drama. Ever. I can't properly portray how impressed and entertained I was by them.
Overall, this drama never slowed down and kept a wonderful pace. It was a smooth watch and something you wanted to keep watching after the episode ended. I can't find a flaw. I am extremely impressed. I would highly recommend this to anyone I meet. I feel like I've found a masterpiece within a sea of bad dramas coming out left and right. I loved it.

I- *sigh*
Listen. This drama was really bad. Besides the obvious *cough* attempted rape *cough* I just absolutely couldn’t get into this drama at all. It was a blast early on because it was so nonsensical and endearing. Until the nonsensical parts pretty much overpowered the entire drama and the entire story ended up a giant, twisted heap of nonsense. I couldn’t begin to tell you when the leads fell in love, I couldn’t tell you what anyone’s motivations were, and I genuinely can’t tell you what the entire point of the story was. I know people are saying that this is the entire point since the FL is a bad scriptwriter, but how is that in any way, shape, or form an excuse for the real scriptwriters to write such a messy and lazy plot? I’m so baffled by how bad this was that I can’t even tell you what exactly I didn’t like about the drama because the WHOLE thing was bad. I just.. I genuinely don’t know what to say besides RUN. The only reason this is even 5 stars is because I’m a sucker for a cheesy ending and the one in the drama made me really happy. Otherwise this would be dead at the bottom of my watchlist in terms of ratings.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
The chemistry between the main two actors are just perfect and then the comedy especially thanks to the supporting cast (the two aide's of the main characters mainly) is epic! Their acting seems so natural that it gets you hooked.
The drama has me laughing and tearing, and tugging at my heartstrings.
The OST was not so great which is probably why I can't even remember them, but the story and chemistry and comedy covers for it.
A must watch for those who like dramas in this genre.

Seriously, all of the 9-10 ratings aren't lying - this drama IS what a lot of us who have felt 2020 has been kind of a dud in drama scripts so far have been waiting for! Well worth the time, give it 2-3 episodes, but pretty sure you'll be hooked by the first! Side note as I haven't seen anyone mention it: I really love the side scenes FL has in the tea shop with the 3 writers..SO funny how they're "helping" her work through her script but with their own ideas and commentary on the plot. Meta and funny at the same time. :-)

No idea why this drama is rated so highly. On the surface TROTAR waves a feminist banner but the plot is stiflingly unoriginal and female characters can't step away from their dated stereotypical roles. Sisters fighting over a man, evil jealous sister, and rash and unintelligent female lead, just to name a FEW. There's potential in the plot and setting in a matriarchal society *if* this drama was actually written in a way that respected the intelligence of its viewers but alas, TROTAR fails in this regard.Characters are traditional and one-dimensional. Male lead is an antihero that has potential but the female lead was written and acted so badly that the drama is just un-saveable. Zhao Lu Si (Xiao Qian)'s character could have just swapped places with the same role she played in Oh! My Emperor and you would not have noticed a difference.
On top of all that, I had a particular distaste for the near sexual assault scene in episode 19(?). It could have been written sensually as a CONSENSUAL test for either female or male leads but instead the writers decided to go the good ol' way of a potential rape. Yay, feminism.
