I have such mixed emotions about this drama now that it's done. In the beginning, I fell unexpectedly in love with it from the very first moments, but towards the end of Angel's Last Mission, I was ready to abort the mission and drop this drama. This drama is a fairytale-style romance dramedy with a lot of elements that I liked, but it seems like they just didn't know how to end it. What this drama does have is a great female lead, and a male lead with great dimples, and together they are cute enough to carry this drama when the story starts to fail.

I will start with Shin Hye Sun, who I loved as such an innocent character in Thirty But Seventeen, but in this drama, she is completely different in the best way! As Lee Yeon Seo she is smart, no-nonsense, and always one step ahead of what's expected of her, and even though she is extremely temperamental it was hard not to like and root for her. In a lot of ways, she plays the role the male lead usually plays in this kind of romcom (rich, mean, but misunderstood), while L plays the role usually given to women (cute and thoughtful enough to win her over). L really is perfectly cast as a charming angel, and although I understand people critiquing some of his more dramatic scenes, I think that what he did right outshined his weaker acting moments... also his dimples... who can deny the power of that dimple whenever he smiled?!! Together I think they had great chemistry, and I especially loved their banter in the beginning. Their melodramatic scenes were less interesting, but I still loved seeing them together, no matter what.

The rest of the cast was filled with great performances and mediocre performances. I think Lee Dong Gun is a master at playing a sinister 2nd lead, but I feel like he was a better actor than what was written for his character. Woo Hee Jin was great too as the maid/surrogate family. A lot of the villainous characters were made to be super campy and were hard to take seriously because of that. I think the sisters Ni Na and Ru Na were good at playing extreme opposites, but because both characters were so one-note I didn't feel much for them, and they are both major parts of the plot so I should have cared a lot more than I did.

Besides Yeon Seo, the best character and the real MVP of this drama is Kim In Kwon as Archangel Hoo! Not only was he hilarious, but he also had one of the few moments in the drama that actually made me tear up. His chemistry with L was just as entertaining as the main couple in my opinion, and he kept this drama entertaining when the plot and couple drama started to get repetitive and boring. He was definitely a scene stealer and a major highlight in this drama.

I think the plot is where this drama lost its way, which is very disappointing because the early episodes were so strong. Without giving too much away, I will say that I was intrigued by the angel on a mission plot. The set up for this drama did have its fair share of clichés, but I thought the story, in the beginning, was well told. I thought certain elements were very creative (the feather handkerchief especially), and I liked the angel mythology in general. Unfortunately, I don't think the conclusion of this drama was well thought out and so the last half of this drama started to drag and became super redundant and boring by the end. It was also annoying to have so many "rehearsal" scenes when it was clear that Shin Hye Sun is not a great dancer in real life. The earlier dance scenes with Kim Bo Mi, who obviously has ballet experience, made more sense but watching long scenes where Shin Hye Sun would "emote" when she should have been dancing was annoying, and felt like filler to drag out the story more. If this drama was shorter I would have liked it much more, even with a vague ending, but watching the same crying scenes over and over again and the same arguments on repeat made it very hard for me to want to keep watching. I also wonder if the writer got talked out of the original ending because the last episodes definitely seemed thrown together.

Would I watch this again? Maybe. I can see myself watching the beginning and then skipping most scenes until getting to the end. There were many scenes and moments that I liked enough to want to see them again. I also thought the soundtrack was perfect but I still didn't love it enough to want to hear the songs again now that the show is over.

With a couple this cute, I thought this drama would be added to my favorites list for sure. I love a good cheesy fairytale that tugs at the heartstrings! The problem with this drama is that it didn't tug at my heart. I wish I cared more, but by the end, I was just waiting for it to be over. I do think that there is enough good in Angel's Last Mission: Love to justify a recommendation for romance fans. It's not the best this year, but it's far from the worst. It's "tragic romance-lite" for those who like melodrama but don't want to watch something too heavy. Also, did I mention the dimples? I can overlook a lot of plotholes just to see those dimples. They deserve their own drama. If you're looking to find deep meaning at the end of this drama then set your expectations much lower. If you're a ballet fan maybe you will appreciate how the "Giselle" performance parallels with the romance between Angel Dan and Yeon Seo, but to me, the connection felt forced and overdone. The crime plot is also very weak, the explanation for Angel's mission is messy, too many things were left unresolved (seriously, what was up with the crazy dance teacher?), but the love story, even with its flaws, still delivers. At the very least, I hope this sparks a trend for more female lead roles like this! I think their dynamic was a refreshing twist on the same ole thing I love.

So, in the end, I'm glad I completed the mission of watching this till the end, but I won't declare my love! I'd say this drama is more like a summer crush than real love, and I'm satisfied with that.

I am not one of those who write much reviews, but I couldn´t not do a review of this drama. Since the first episode aired I knew that this drama was going to be my drama of 2019. Since I spend a really long time crying in the first and second episode...and literally every episode of this drama (and I´m not really the type who cries but whatever)

It's just that I couldn´t not feel attracted and feel sorry for the hard life of Yeon Seo, besides I love Hye Sun since Still 17 (good drama by the way). The way she brought to life Yeon Seo it was fascinating; evry scene in this I could really feel it and reached my heart.

The romance seemed to me the most pure and cute and tender and funny love of all, and the way Yeon Seo was a hardcore woman but when it came to Kim Dan she was just another normal girl in love. That was just so sweet and cute. And just PERFECT. But that the two were willing to die for each other was heartbreaking. (I seriously thought about stopping going to church lol :P)

I highly recommend this drama it was awesome the plot, the cast, the music, the scenarios, EVERYTHING.
I'm pretty sure that if you see this drama you´ll not be unsatisfied with it. Now I want an angel as boyfriend :)

Story? Snoozefest
Acting? Sub par
Rewatch value? Non existent
Writing? Piss poor
Direction? Meh
Editing? Abysmal
Music? The only saving grace

Honestly, I'm mad at how this show turned out. Imagine making the viewers become unattached to the characters AFTER you made us grow fond of them. It takes talent to screw up this bad. It had HUGE potential to be a masterpiece but bad creative decisions and unoriginal (manipulative) writing completely ruined it.
I'm only giving it a 6 because I genuinely loved the initial episodes and SHS's performance, everything else, including the romance, falls flat.

Disappointed

After finishing Angel's Last Mission: Love I'm just angry at what this drama could have been.

This drama started so good and had so much potential, but at the end didn't deliver. It had a strong, beautiful first half: interesting plot, charming characters, nice balance of drama, mystery, romance and comedy; and then it went downhill so fast.

Plot stopped making sense, terrible writing turned the characters into over the top caricatures of themselves, interesting characters left unexplored in favor of some cheap drama, zero chemistry between the leads and some over acting.
This is what the show became on the second half.

Neither of the leads were bad per se and most of the flaws I saw in their performance can be blamed on the writing. I think they did their best with what they were given, which to be honest, wasn't much.
Kim Myungsoo is a great comedy actor and his charming performance at the beginning was what made me keep watching; his dramatic scenes could be better but not bad at all. Much better than I expected.
Shin Hye Sun was okay. I think she portrayed the character really well at the beginning, then she started to over act. But as I said, I blame the writing for that.
What I can't ignore is the zero chemistry between them, one of the reasons why I wasn't that invested in their love story.

Quite good supporting actors, with characters far more interesting than the leads at times and that I would have liked to know better because they had so much potential.
And that's what makes me mad about this drama: the fact that it could have been so good, it had everything to be so good, and they chose not to.

At the end, I think not even the writers knew what they were doing.
And it's such a shame because it was so promising at the start.

Nonsense writing, Nonsense romance, Nonsense ending!

What a horribly written drama this one was, with such a terrible acting performance from L, a nonsense childish romance with no chemistry, cartoonish villain & ilogical act from the characters. Even LYS turns such a hypocrite at the later part to me.

For an angel theme drama, even a mini/web drama called Stars of the universe did a way better portrayal & mature writing than Angel Last Mission.
The only good thing in this drama was SHS performance & her dancing, but imo I could just watch a little snippets of her ballet dancing & I'd lose nothing.

I admit though their first few ep was amazing (I've even gave them a 10) but then they just hit rock bottom & had become one of the worst and most overrated drama I've seen this year, or ever, lol.

Another wasting of time, 2019 so far had been such a bad year for kdrama for me.

5.5/10 & given how absurd their writing is in the later half, this is me being generous.

I don’t know if this received mixed reactions from people as it was airing, but all I know it that I enjoyed it from start to finish, majority of the eps left me wanting more.

★ T.H.E ★ A.C.T.I.N.G ★

❐ Shin Hye Sun as Lee Yeon Seo | Choi Seol Hee

I liked how she was expressed her emotions well during the dancing scene where *spoiler* she was seeing Kim Dan when it was Kang Woo that was in front of her. * It made me like her more as an actress and now I can’t wait to see her in other projects, where she takes on the main lead role, as I liked her in ‘thirty but seventeen’ but LOVED her in this more. 10/10

❐ L as Kim Dan | Yoo Seong Woo

He was good, first time watching him in a drama, he portrayed his character really well. 8/10

❐ Lee Dong Gun as Ji Kang Woo

I had a love to hate relationship with him, hated him for being all creepy. Like I get it your *spoiler* past love looks like ^^ But that doesn’t mean you get to be creepy... but I did like him more towards the end... he is the reason why I tried sketch and going to watch leverage so yeah... 10/10

❐ Kim Bo Mi as Geum Ni Na
Glad she wasn't like her family, she was annoying AF(At first) but I starting liking her towards the end, she wasn’t as selfish and crazy as her sister. 7/10

C.O.N.C.L.U.S.I.O.N ★

Loved it, gave it a 10/10 rating, would recommend if you want something not overly romantic ( like her private life for example), cute scenes but with angst too - my type of drama...

Okay so first of all it's so hard not to be bias with this drama because you know, Myungsoo <3 haha but nevertheless, here's my two cents:

I would just like to say, hats off to Lee Yeon Soo her life is full of ups and downs. It's the perfect example of a roller coaster life. If I was in her position I wouldn't know what to do. And hands down to Shin Hye Sun, she's truly an excellent actress.

Plot wise I was surprised by how fast the pacing was. If I can remember correctly majority of the "secrets" were revealed in the early episodes of the drama. But even though a lot was revealed already, they still managed to keep it interesting for the viewers to continue watching. The further the story went on, the more complex the emotions were depicted. However, the thing that impressed me the most in the story line is that, they were able to impart the viewers a very valuable lesson that is usually not highlighted in shows these days and that is "true love can be received from various people not just your romantic partner". To be honest, I thought Kim Dan turned into a human when his senior sacrificed himself to save Dan but I was glad it didn't happen immediately then because the montage of the different efforts the couple has received to help Dan become a human was really heartwarming.

However, there are a few reasons why I gave this drama this score and not a higher one. First is I'm not really a fan of the acting of Do Ji Won in this drama it seemed over the top. I've seen her in other dramas and I know she can do better. Second, I don't think Myungsoo was the right choice for Kim Dan. Yes I said it, don't hate me I have my reasons for this. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of his but I'm not quite sure that mature roles like this suit him just yet. Yes, his acting over the years has improved but personally I think he is not yet in this level. Also, I think he is just too good looking. Every time he cries I find it hard to feel compassionate with his character because I get so distracted by his perfect face.
Lastly, there are just a lot of loopholes in the plot that I can't even remember all of them. I think they shouldn't have had Ji Kang Woo fall in love with Yeon Soo without any backstory of how he met her because by making him truly fall for her , it will seem that the love between JKW and Seolhee was not that real and the sacrifice of Seolhee turned out not that meaningful for JKW.

To wrap things up, I'm not regretting that I have watched this drama but I don't think I'll be rewatching it any time soon.

PS: I was surprised at how good Myungsoo is with kissing scenes <3 Honestly made me fall for him more lol. If I can't have him I'll settle for a clone of his hehehe jk.

A drama that`ll take you to paradise

"If the time of eternity was painted in black and white, humans shine in all kinds of colors, as if they can be shattered at any moment." ¬ Kim Dan

"Angel`s Last Mission:Love" is my first experience with Shin Hye-sun`s acting and let me say :I was impressed! Finally, I`ve discovered an actress whose talent almost pours out of her every time she`s on the screen. In fact most of the time, everyone`s acting is without fault, which I`m really glad to see. I`m so happy to see a production whose earnest intentions can be seen through the art it creates. Of course, this drama is not perfect by any means, but its strong points are mighty strong. Like many people have already mentioned on here, and I think the name and the cover art are mostly to blame, if you are expecting an average romantic comedy, curb your expectations because this drama is so much more. Kim Dan and Yeon-seo`s dynamic is amongst my favorite couple dynamics to watch. A pure, childish man and a cold, hardened woman come together with the help of divine power and fall in love. Seeing it spelled out like this, you would think it`d amount to something subpar and shallow but you`d be mistaken. This is a love with tragic consequences you wish you could save. Because both of these characters deserve it. Something about their relationship seems so fragile and precious, reeling this show to a higher rating for me. When their relationship is the focus, or the characters for that matter, it`s great. The OST also helps us feel all the necessary emotions, carrying, with each tune, a note of impending bitterness. It fits in with the story the writers are trying to tell. And it comes across perfectly well. L is also holding his own, though some of the more dramatic scenes require some feeling he`s not able to draw out just yet. Other than this nitpick, nowhere did his acting come off as gratifying or unsatisfactory. The sets and some of the effects are beautiful too, albeit a little too perfect, but that kind of aesthetic fits in with this drama just fine.

Now, after such high praises, I do have some concerns to voice. As I kept watching this drama, in the latter half of it especially, I felt a need to have it shortened. As in, the conflicts that kept appearing, other than the fear of Dan or Yeon-seo disappearing, felt a bit baseless and too unfounded for how good the drama itself was. And this was especially true for the overly evil sister Ru Na, who just became a downright cartoonish villain by the final episode, where her mother still felt somewhat acceptable. Them asking for forgiveness also felt like it was for the sake of the wrapped up happy ending, instead of feeling like it was an organic decision. Basically, the whole evil family story line in the last six episodes felt overblown and unnecessary, is what I'm trying to say. Again, I`m not a fan of the "characters appearing right where they`re supposed to be" or "main characters knowing each other since they were kids" tropes, but the charm and the commendable acting managed to mask these cons. One little nitpick I also have to name for my sake, is that I felt just a touch disappointed that we didn`t get a blind protagonist all the way through but I got over it pretty quickly.

To close up this review, I recommend this drama to those of you who are looking for a new take on star-crossed lovers which will make your feelings soar. Check it out!

Quite a letdown

I had high hopes for this since I love MLs that are "inhuman" or a supernatural being, but sadly it was kind of slow and unsatisfying. The ML was the high point: he was spunky and adorable and endearing, and I would’ve loved to see him in a better story. His angelic nature didn’t factor into the plot as much as I expected, as most of the time he was essentially a regular human guy - no wings, no powers or abilities - which defeats the whole point. (I disliked the trite secret backstory for the same reason; for me, it detracted from what made him unique.) My favorite parts were when he struggled with his divine nature versus what his heart wanted, as well as the rare occasions we got to see his beautiful wings in action! Everything else was difficult to care about: I loathed the 2ML, and the villains with their many board meetings were dull as ditchwater. As far as the FL, I could excuse some of her cold, hateful behavior due to trauma but it took her SO long to soften up or show any actual personality that I don’t know how the ML fell for her. The drama tried to portray them as epic star-crossed lovers but I wasn’t feeling it - they seemed to go from pleasant companions to "I'd die for you" in the blink of an eye. This drama could’ve been something special, which makes it all the more frustrating that it isn’t.

Emotions will be Felt!

This drama is seriously THE BEST, if you want to cry, laugh, smile, have suspense, have hatred towards characters, then this is the drama for you!!!! This drama has, hands down, the best cast and the most amazing story line. I cannot believe that I fell in love with this drama so fast and I am so hooked into it. I do not want it to end but I will say that it is very difficult for me to guess the upcoming events that will occur in this drama (meaning it is unbelievable well written and well played throughout). Anyone who is reading this, YOU HAVE TO, I repeat, YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT!!!! I will always rate this drama 10/10, you should too!

Now that I have completed it, I am here to say that I really wish there was a season 2. The ending was perfect for this drama. In a way it tells you their future without them saying anything but at least we know what their destiny was and the plan that was set for them. Every person who was casted in this drama accomplished their duty as actors/actresses. They make you truly feel hatred, happiness, worryness, relieved, anxious, etc. There are just too many emotions felt while watching this drama. Please give this drama some love and support.

Thank You for reading my review

Believe me when I say this is one of the best dramas out here (it's one of my favorites at least).

You may think a plot about an angel and a human is going to be super tacky and cheesy. The plot was very well thought out and there weren't and major loose ends. It wasn't super predictable either; sometimes they threw a curveball in there, and boy, was it interesting. The story itself is super unique and original, you won't see anything like it. There aren't many dramas that make me want to keep watching and watching, as I usually get a little bored after a while and take a break. But, this time I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Especially with the cliffhangers on basically every episode!

The acting was incredible, and I couldn't help being totally swept up in the story. The male lead's quirkiness was funny, and I enjoyed his character from beginning to end. I fell in love with his personality almost instantly. Whether he was laughing or crying, I could feel the emotion. Shin Hye Sun did an incredible job playing the female lead and she's just so amazing(and gorgeous may I add). I'm literally about to watch her other dramas because I'm interested to see how she tackled other roles! All the other actors were great. (Ji Kang Woo is a great character. You'll know when you watch it). Even the smaller roles had actors and actresses who knew what they were doing.

The OST. My god. I haven't loved an OST this much since "While You Were Sleeping". I found myself singing along to the songs because they were so good. They played the songs at the perfect moments and it was just so great. L, who played the male lead also sang a song for the drama so it was nice. Every time a song off the OST started playing I would get happy because I just loved hearing it.

I'm in love with this drama and plan to rewatch it sometime in the future. This is the first review I've ever written! That's how much I love it. Give it a chance, it's great.
