Beautiful Heartbreaking Story.!
This is a story about humanity, its sorrowful and impactful. It makes me introspect my own life while thinking deeply about the meaning of aging.!!Nam Joo Hyuk (as Lee Joon Ha) is the reason why I started watching this drama. My one and only favorite K-actor. Haha❣️ His acting in this drama made me think how much he grew as an actor. He's good in this drama. He did it so beautifully and tastefully that my heart broke with his..:'(
The drama started as a fantasy, love, comedy and a bit weird but ended with a fascinating and heartwarming realistic story :'( Watching those grandpas and grandmas struggles and how people take advantage of them were heartbreaking :'( The writer cleverly hid the real plot and shocked us with a beautiful heartbreaking big twist that I'm sure no one expected it..!!
If you're looking for a adorable romantic drama, then this isn't for you^_^ There is no charming prince in this drama.! There are no rich big families fighting for a company, there are no typical Kdrama scenes, it really differs from the majority of Kdramas I've seen❤️
If you're looking for a short drama with life lessons, then this can be the perfect drama to watch on your spare time. Trust me, it's that good^o^
I'm still in the process of trying to accept the fact that I'm already done watching 'The Light In Your Eyes' :'( It truly touched my heart and I will remember it for a long time💓

A very heartwarming slow-paced drama.
One of the best melodrama! The story is very precious itself because it talks about a certain life of a person and how it deals to be a person living with both happy and sorrowful moments beautifully. A very slow-paced melodrama with a bit comedy and romance throughout the series, the plot is very relatable and interesting to fulfill. The whole cast did an exceptional job especially the main leads which are Kim Hye Ja's both the 75 year and 25 year old and also Lee Joon Ha and Kim Yeong Soo. Although the OST's are not memorable but it has its way to capture peoples hearts and soul. KUDOS TO "THE LIGHT IN YOUR EYES" TEAM.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
It talks about the older generation of people, the" neglected" generation. This show has so many light moments but the heavy side of it really REALLY hits you. It talks about relationships between family, friends and people in general with special attention given to the older generation. It also touches on korea in 1970s.
What is so amazing about this show is that it perfectly disguises itself as a rom-com, with fantasy aspects but completely turns around and makes you view all the episodes differently.
I have to give special mention to nam joo hyuk who did a splendid job in portraying his character. Almost all the actors were really amazing to watch!
The only issue i have with this drama is that it is extremely confusing, like i needed a whole year to comeback and finish this drama, just the last 2 episodes. I think this maybe because it was nothing i have ever seen before, the unfamiliarity made me stop watching it. But after completing it i felt really warm and appriciated it more!
a story not for everyone, only the once who are looking for something heartwarming and are willing to spend time and watch patiently how this drama unfolds :)

Messy writing meets worst direction
So draggy. 4 episodes stretched out to 12. Ratings on MDL are highly inflated. Most of the scenes are panned for too long as if the camera is mounted on an ant & they had to give each of that shot 30 seconds at least.Worst direction among all of the kdramas I have seen so far. Very weak script. Plot is just a pretty good premise expanded to poorly written 12 episodes.
ML seems to be only capable of looking mopey & pathetically sad - all the time. Guess that's the extent of his character and the range of his acting skills.
FL (younger one) did not get enough script time, but still managed to give quite a nice performance. FL (elder) was similarly good, but, after 4 or so episodes, her character was all about probably asking the viewers to feel pity for her every second of this show (understandably for first few episodes, but for the whole show? Way to make this one as a 1D character like the rest).
This show has an amazing combination of poor writing and worst direction for such an uncommon, but interesting plot line.
Only redeeming part in this sorry excuse for a show, were the actors playing FL (s), FL's friends, FL's mother and FL's brother bringing life to very limited poorly written characters.
This one is like a bait show, asking you to empathize and possibly cry for the sad lives of all the characters involved in a very dull worldview. What a waste of a good plot that could have been a mature outlook on the struggles of a unambitious girl & a helpless old lady, and support of those around her, also (ep 11 & 12) FL;s regretful despair; could have been a good slice of life and a melodrama.
Watch it only for FL (younger)'s friends, mom and trolling brother.
Also, bad execution of the twist in ep 11. Full of loop holes. Totally unnecessary.
This show is messy writing meets worst direction; giving a messed up and confusingly draggy experience. Inflated ratings on MDL. I watched it and this show helped me in a way of letting me know that the bar for worst shows can always be lowered.
3/10.

A show that I will recommend only to selected people
I finished Twenty Five Twenty One and had to find something with NJH to watch. Et voila, Netflix started carrying this show. I have read that this show is not well written, etc. However, I was in a NJH bender so I clicked play.During the first 5-6 episodes, I kind a enjoyed it but the comical part of the show was just too slapstick humor for me. As much as I love NJH and his visual in this show, the moodiness of Lee Joon Ha in the show wasn't appealing. Yet, I held on because I just need my NJH fix and the performance of actress KJH was just so good.
When the story of Lady Chanel started to unfold, I started to get more interested and became so invested because of the emotional acting from NJH. Episode 10 Harvengers for me was like WTH is this.
However, when twist happened, I was floored. It is the most mind blowing twist I have ever seen. I can only recall another movie, Inception, that had a similar affect with a twist.
After the twist, the first 10 episode started making sense for me, like looking at an out-of-focus scope being brought into focus.
The confusing stories, the outrageous events or behaviors; all are brought into focus and had a completely realistic and logical reason. Even LJH's moodiness could be explained as Hee-Ja reflection of how Joon-Ha felt.
This is why I love this show so much. It is meaningful but entertaining, funny but heart-rending but heart-warming at the same time. The creator and actors/actresses showed great commitment, courage and confidence to dare something like this. I can imagine how many people could not get past episode 5 or 6. I almost did not make it if not for my NJH addiction. Once I finished it the first time though, I went back and watched every second of it the 2nd time and enjoyed it even more. I was too confused the first time. Plus, like many other watchers, I wanted the young Hee-Ja to come back so I did not know to savor the story being told.
Now that I have pour my heart out about how much I love this show, I have to say that the show could have condensed the first 10 episodes. The story did not need all of the first 10 episodes to make the case for the twist. In fact, this would have been a wonderful story for a movie.
That's all I got today. I have rewatched this show multiple times already and thought I should share my thoughts. :)

this is my FIRST TIME WRITING a review The thing about this drama that, at first it attracts a particular type of viewers (anyone who enjoys romantic, happy and funny stories) i definitely thought that its gonna be a romantic / sad and inspirational drama with a bit of science-fiction on it. but almost everything changes after the first episodes, and it becomes really sad and tragic in my opinion.
i had hope that things will be fixed within the episodes ( mostly between the two main actors that i personally want them to be together so bad LOL ) ...

slowly but surely shined radiantly
I won't say too much other than my final thoughts for this drama. It already came out a few years ago so it has had its impact. For me I am really glad I watched this show. I was watching episodes in handfuls and was confused by the first 10 episodes because the tone was all over the place.. but the ending really made a lot of sense as to why.It doesn't happen often that a show makes me cry, but this one I found myself being so immersed in the characters and their situations that I was crying for a majority of the last two episodes. Episode 10 changed this drama and the whole viewing experience I had. I first thought the show had no clue what it was doing and was wasting it's potential and the actors potential. The story to me I was confused by because it seemed a little whimsical in a way.. but it has its good reason.
Now this drama is not for everyone, but if you sit yourself down and even watch it leisurely you will find yourself liking characters, their stories, etc. The kicker is the ending that completely wrings you in. You don't have to watch this drama fully paying attention even, you will just find yourself being drawn in. The payoff of the last episodes is done so well, and it made the drama better. This show was carefully made and I can tell that the whole story revolved really around the twist towards the end.
I also want to add that Nam Joo Hyuk did an amazing job. He is a scene stealer and had a lot of emotional scenes that he does eerily well. He is so good at portraying pain and giving off looks that don't need dialogue or explaining to know how he feels. The scenes with Han Ji Min they played so well off each other. She was in it less than I thought she would be but for what she was in she amazingly showed feelings of longing and confusion. All the way around the actors/actresses did very well.
This drama in short made me cry. It can drag on but the payoff was worth it for me. I would not have cried if I didn't care about the characters and what was going on. Things escalated up and then it all made sense slowly but surely. Not for everyone but this one was a slowburn with an excellent payoff. For what the drama was trying to do it did it so well. I am glad I watched it.

The Light In Your Eyes is a drama that fed us all the expectations that would make us excited, and completely twisted us on our heels and left us feeling something we didn't expect to feel after watching it. It's fresh, emotional, and absolutely made me ugly cry at all the different hours of the day.STORY:
At first, I would've thought the plot was something very The Girl Who Leapt Through Time-esque. I came excited for the romance, but then found myself invested in the poetry hidden within the story; although the progression was always slow in the story, and I couldn't comprehend why she immediately accepted her fate at first without even trying to find other ways to return to her original state, I found myself reflecting on human life and how this drama has made me want to respect elders more than any school play or kids show I have ever seen.
The infamous plot twist was something that took me completely aback at first, in a partial negative manner. This was probably because I felt as if I wasted all my emotional investment on the characters from the original story the drama was following, only to find out the truth of it all after the twist that seemed to make no sense. However, it avoided dropping the bomb and leaving it there for us to gawk at it, and presented itself in a way that made slightly more sense.
The story overall is well thought out, and knew exactly how to leave an audience in tears. The final monologue in the last episode is something I absolutely needed the day I watched it, and it made me appreciate being alive and young in the slightest.
ACTING/CAST:
I would be lying if I said I didn't decide to watch this drama because of Nam Joo Hyuk, because I feel like most of us did. And who knew he looked great with a mullet.
Thee entire cast gave an exceptional performance, especially the elder actors who made me feel their struggles and pain through the screen although I couldn't exactly relate to them. Because of this drama as well, I now know that the beautiful Han Jimin (and Kim Hye Ja) exists, and will be looking out for them in future dramas.
Everyone's acting touched me greatly. The contrast between Yeong Soo and Min-Su was so great, and the way the actor made them appear so different successfully made me laugh.
MUSIC:
It didn't have the same repetitive Kpop song playing whenever a touching moment happened, which I appreciate. I loved Song Sang Eun's voice and loved whenever she sang, even the older version of her. The music perfectly fit the aesthetic of each scene and the entire drama as well, and although this may be biased, played the exact type of music I listen to and love.
REWATCH VALUE;
I feel that the emotional and poetic value of the drama may be ruined for me if I rewatch it, knowing what's going to happen. It's like I'll be watching it hoping it ends differently, or the way I originally expected it to be. Perhaps I might watch certain scenes again, but not really the whole drama.
OVERALL:
A beautiful, bittersweet ode to life and all its wonders in the little things. This is one of the first dramas that made me full on Japanese-romance-film-ending cry, both happily and sadly. Life isn't as long as I thought it would be, and this drama teaches you to hold on to the small moments that may hold so much meaning to you in the grand scheme of things. The romance was in just the right level, and the overall drama felt very heartfelt and genuine, with gentle comedy to soften the blow, and a message that'll keep you smiling for quite a while.
