Great Plot, Great Acting, Great Ending

Yes, I'm hooked to this drama which was almost dropped initially because I was too impatient. The opening of the drama put me off, but then 2 episodes in, I was hooked.

I love the seriousness of this drama. There are no annoying, stupid nor silly characters. No stupid exchanges. No unnecessary misunderstandings except those that due to the flaws of the characters themselves. There is good character development.

The sword fight choreography is simply beautiful, so authentic and gracious. The wushu scenes are executed almost flawlessly with beautiful and elegant sequences and postures by the main leads. There are no stupid colorful fireworks (literally) when people fight, just real authentic sounds and movements.

The lead actors are new to me. Having said that, they appear to be wonderful actors and they each plays their roles convincingly. I grow to love them and empathize with them, even with the antagonist.

The romance is intense and sensual, and the hatred is convincing. The second male lead plays a controversial character which adds colors to the story; most viewers hate and love him. I love the story with strong male leads and strong female lead. It is so satisfying to see a strong female lead who is smart and kind, and at the same time, has the ability to protect herself and others because she can really fight (tired of those girls who try to be heroines but put others into danger when they try to protect the heroines - not in this case).

One can tell the production team has put in a lot of efforts in taking care of the details. There are no obvious holes and mismatched timelines. The music, cinematography, plots, acting, and editing are simply wonderful.

This is a drama well done!

Started well but...

The beginning 16 episodes are somewhat solid. Decent storyline, decent acting, beautiful costumes and set, and decent fighting scenes. However, as the story goes on, it felt like the Male lead lost his place. They tried to keep the love story between the two leads solid (I.e no one can really come in between them in term of how they feel for one another), however, with the lack of maybe strong acting, strong chemistry between the two leads, you end up not really feeling for the leads. You don’t feel happy when they realise they still love each other, and you don’t feel heartbroken when they break up again. I just don’t feel sad or heart breaking for this couple, which is strange, because I do enjoy the drama, yet somehow I don’t feel it 0.o

And as the story goes on, somehow my heart is ache for the second male lead. He’s selfish, he doesn’t know how to love her, but at the same time, how can you fault him when every time he tries, the female lead would just coldly shut him out. When you see her heart is slightly moved by his actions, she turned away, and again pour cold water all over him. And knowing the general’s story background makes you feel for him even more. When telling the story, the prince might have witness his mother being murder by his dad, and because of that, develop a woman phobia. But his dad loves him, and adores him, and the girl he loves, love him back, and he’s always on time to save her (of course, because he’s main lead lol). Compare to the general, who dad also killed mom, his dad did not acknowledge him. The girl who he loves, rather bear the bad mouths of the world just to be with her (sure there are other scheming reasons, but time and times he stood by her), always wants to save her but always a step late (typical second lead lol). Seeing the prince gets pardoned for any wrong things he did, and he gets punished for just one time being wrong. Anyone would turn psychopath. And you really feel his pains.

Long story short: the love story runs out of steam for me by 16, the will they won’t they is a bit old (this part takes place from 16-32), also not much of it when it seems pretty solid that the prince only has heart for the princess and vice versus. Is it bad? Not necessarily but need to be done well, and require great chemistry between the two leads, which as I mentioned before, totally lacking. And so in this case, it’s boring. I started watching and continue for the female lead mainly, she’s literally carrying the show. But as the show goes on after 16, it’s the second male lead that carry the show. It’s just because his character is the only one that has layers, that is complex, and you just don’t know how his heart acts, he has to follow his revenge plan, yet his heart couldn’t be ruthless, though sometimes he tried (he failed because he’s second lead, and he can’t win lol). And the actor who portrayed the General did a really good job, I think I will continue to watch for the general, and even if he turns out to be very terrible, it’s understandable. And this brings another minus for this show. My impression of the drama title is that the female lead was so heart broken that her hair turn white (yup, a rip off of the famous white hair maiden story), however, so far, I felt like her pains aren’t great enough (and with 23 eps to go, I’m not sure we have room to develop that great pain either). Considering the background and literally 9 mo of emotional turmoils the General has to face (the various events happen in that 9 mo), he is the only person so far qualifying to go white hair lol.

And because of this reason, the rewatch value for this series is like almost zero. The music is ok, suitable but not memorisable. Oh last and not least, this series has zero kissing scene that is passionate. We finally get 1 kissing scene but it was a rush one and virtually no emotion =_=

Change my score to be 1 lower than the original score I gave because of the ending. While the ending was not rush, it was lacklustre! And they follow the usual cliche cdrama style where everyone but the main leads die! And 1 other insignificant couple. When you have the old emperor, who caused all these tragedies, who has been poisoned and has no strength to stand up, managed to hold 2 babies (total weight let say 12kg), then about 10mins later, die conveniently as the ML got to him, just to say BS stuff like: remember don’t follow my mistake =_= I rolled my eyes so hard when this last episode is trying to be all high and mighty and try to give moral lessons -.- the ML’s face when his dad die resembles of a smile rather than being sad and devastated -.- the FL’s cry scene when she remembered her first love was also not convincing, and follow the usual trope of cry loudly, holding on tight to the memory object, then finally hitting the floor >_> At least one thing could feel her pain....the floor >_>

Do I recommend this series? Yes for the general’s acting, and for Leo’s fans. I don’t feel much for leo’s Character because the chemistry between Leo and the FL, while better than with the ML, was not enough, and it is mainly the FL’s fault. She couldn’t do certain scenes right, and so you don’t feel connected with this couple, and they didn’t tie that end right either. Didn’t show she’s that heartbroken for RQ, so what she has not been living with her husband for a few years to be with RQ’s grave? But you don’t see it, you don’t feel it, it likes trying to show off screen. Leo’s best acting to me was the pose he did as he die on the throne. It is heartbreaking scene, a lifeless king, the epitome of his life, always the puppet, even in death. So watch the series, but be prepared to feel annoyed at the 2 leads, and FF their scenes. If you enjoy the 2 leads and their storyline, bonus :)

Roundabout plot, weak acting. Last few episodes were way better.

The drama started out intriguing for me, especially first 14 episodes. It seemed mysterious, like a solid story is about to be told. However thereafter, it was very drawn-out and constant repetition of certain scenes: the love story between FL and ML, the side view of the ML's face, the FL being strong-headed and suddenly acting weak, the ML always knowing where and when to rescue the FL and the FL/ML who are the only know-it-all.' After 20 episodes or so, I've been skipping the scenes involving the ML due to his mediocre and boring acting and chemistry with the FL.

I would like to compare this drama to Ashes of Love and Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. All three have great costumes and amazing filming location. However, both AoL and TMPB went on to develop the roles of all the supporting roles instead of killing them off. The part whereby PS lacked is the development, it seems that PS is advancing based on the aesthetic value of the ML, as the ML's acting ability in this show is rather weak. If Fu Chou had more scenes, he will overpower the ML for sure. FL and ML's love story does not seem realistic, as they constantly hid secrets from each other at the start and remained inseparable. FL is supposedly skilled in martial arts, but does not exhibit her ability when ML is around. Their love story is very forced upon the audience, whereby we have to accept that those two come as a whole. Then, why do we even have two separate characters if they appear to have the same mind? I find that as a watcher, I could not empathize with their relationship and when they break up I just go 'oh lol, there they go again'. This is unlike in AoL and TMPB, whereby in AoL, when the ML left the FL, it made me so upset since their love was very real.

The FL in PS acts more like a man than woman, and the ML acts like a wimp, especially when he revealed to the public that he had sex with the FL when the FL was about to marry Fu Chou. He is not a gentleman at all. The things the FL and ML are incomprehensible, mostly because they always do things to the extreme ie the FL for her own selfishness caused her servants to die and FL/ML ganging up to kill Fu Chou who showed real love for the FL. These make the audience unable to understand their harsh actions. In fact, this is the drama whereby I wished for the ML to die and for someone to teach the FL some manners. In short, apart from the lovey-dovey and sex scenes, as well as the ML showing his side view of his face and always appearing out of nowhere, the FL/ML roles remained sorely under-developed.

Moving on, Fu Chou acted brilliantly in showing a conflicted person who was hurt by his past and yet tries to love someone. The character development for his role is rather good and FC has got amazing acting skills. When he caught FL and ML together in the bath while the FL was married to him, his expression caused me to really cry. He is a good-hearted and loyal man who constantly endures betrayal from people around him and tries to put up a brave front. In my opinion, he deserves more screen time and can even be the ML. The ratio of screen time the ML has is 8:10, meaning that whenever other supporting roles are kissing/hugging, he strolls right into the scene. (Like, wait what? What does it have to do with the ML even.) As such, many scenes involving the supporting roles are cut out. That was what made me give this drama a low rating. As I continue watching, the disappointment increases.

In fact, I watched this drama for Leo Luo aka Emperor Qi. Leo never disappoints with his acting even though he seldom appear. Makes me wonder why since the production team is always using his fame and face for advertisements on Weibo (even Leo himself is helping to promote). This is so unfair since he had very little screen time and almost no character development. It feels like this drama is just riding on his Ashes of Love fame instead of giving Leo the recognition he deserves. (He acted brilliantly in AoL and I watched AoL twice.)

Conclusion: I will not watch this drama again as I am watching it for Leo, but now I have a new bias which is Fu Chou. Previously I have watched Leo's drama the Fox in the Screen, and even though the production wasn't as good, they gave all the roles equal screen time. I find that if PS cut down on showing off the ML's long face (I don't appreciate his face since I am seeing it so regularly it annoys me), it is likely PS will just go down to 30 episodes, though I think with a story like this, 20 episodes is good enough to make a strong plot. There is nothing memorable about this drama as the twists are too many in certain episodes and it is plain confusing. The music is nothing special unlike those in AoL and TMPB. I find the acting of the ML is boring enough and a major turn-off while the FL is too bratty. Wonder why is this drama called White Hair though. It seems like a clickbait...

I just completed the Princess Silver series and it left me with very mixed emotions. I've never written any review before but the extremely heavy after thoughts compelled me to write this post. This is not so much a review, but I want to share my thoughts and feelings about the drama. In my opinion, Princess Silver is one the best Chinese Drama produced in recent years. I have not read the novel, so I do not know how close the drama to the original source is. Nevertheless, the story is a beautiful and very heavy heart tragic story that takes a lot of emotions out of the viewers. Complex relationships, plots, and key secrets are beautifully written and planned by scriptwriters. For the most part, the drama flows well through the many episode but becomes a bit draggy on the last six. Perhaps, it could have been done with 60 episodes and I will share my thoughts on that.

Let us begin, the soul of the drama definitely comes from the superb young casts, especially Sophie Zhang. She is the center and the life of the drama in every single episode. All others are good, but Sophie's performance is many levels above all others. I have seen her once few years back in ROCH as Guo Xiang. Her acting has matured significantly over the years. Unlike Guo Xiang simple happy loving teen character, Rong Le character consists of complex dispositions, and most involve extreme level of emotions: happiness, betrayal, despair, hatred, strong will, wisdom, hope. Yet, Sophie has demonstrated the ability to connect all those with me as a viewer. The two vivid scenes, when she gets rolled out on a bed to force surrender from Wu You and when she finds out the cure for her illness, to me, are no doubt of her best performance. You can really connect and feel the pain and torment through her face and twisted body. Her performance would be the only reason if I to re-watch the series (very unlikely). She has done an extraordinary job in Rong Le.

As for the male roles, it is worth to mention of good performance from both Aarif Rahman and Jing Chao. Zongzheng Wu You played by Aarif is a protagonist that anyone can long for: intelligence, arrogant, powerful, brave, fidelity. I do find a bit stiff in Aarif acting. He does well in arrogant and battle scenes, but I don't connect with him on the painful and happiness scenes. Perhaps, that is the intention of the scripts not to show weakness in Wu You character. I think Wu You is not a difficult character to play and Aarif performance does progressively gets better through the series and keeps hold of the viewers. The chemistry between Aarif/Sophie - Wu You/Rong Le is phenomenon. Together they really bring out an intense love that would rival any relationship in all period drama. The sacrifice, loyalty, and fidelity outshine all the evilness in the story which is extremely critical factor for good period drama. You want them to be together, but you cannot wait for them to be separated as well, and long for them to be back again. It is a heartwarming circle that keeps the wheel of drama rolling.

With Fu Chou character played by Jing Chao, I would say, second to Rong Le, this is also a complex role to play. Seasoned actor Jing Chao fits and plays the role well. This character has no external emotion expression, but I do connect with Fu Chou from begin to end, from dislike to acceptance, from suspicious to truth, and from despite to sympathy. Through mostly short sentences, burst of emotions, facial and body expression, Jing Chao has really carried out the depth and complexity of the character. Because of his acting, I do circle back to Fu Chou and accept his role in the story.

To my least favorite character of the series, it is Rong Qi played by Luo Yunxi. From both character and performance standpoint, I find it exceedingly difficult to accept and tolerate this combination. Luo Yunxi acting seems very dry to me. Understanding that Rong Qi is a sickness and painful role, I never see that but do see an internal evilness in him until the very last episode. I am not sure whether I misunderstand the role, or it is supposed exactly like that. This is where I like to know what is really the Rong Qi actual character in the novel. As for the story, I see the last 6 episodes is written as a redemption for Rong Qi and to fill in all the missing pieces. I find myself forwarding most of it because, by episode 60, my mind is already made up for Rong Qi as an antagonist, and there is no return from there regardless of how many more beautiful details of Rong Qi and Rong Le relationship added. I understand the need for a series of events to bring back all memory for Rong Le and to cure her illness, however, the dragging of the last few episodes on the relationship of Rong Qi and Rong Le during her pregnancy are very repugnant in my view. At that point, most of the secret plots have been exposed, and therefore, I feel that the series could have been concluded with 60 episodes by keeping the details on their relationship minimal. It is very unlikely that I would rewatch the drama because of these very distasteful episodes.

Lastly with some random thoughts, although I have enjoyed Princess Silver, the tragic story in the drama is too heavy heart for me to rewatch a second time. I find it draws a lot of emotion out of me which a good drama should do. I am also overly impressed with the overall casts and their performance. I hope and look forward to seeing their other works soon. Regarding costumes, I have mixed feeling on some costumes used in the drama, especially the design and accessories of the royal outfits, seemed to be over killed. For those who enjoy serious, highly emotional, intense love, and complex storytelling, I highly recommend this series. If you are looking for fun, light heart, beautiful love story, my current favorites are Joy of Life and Under the Power, both are excellent dramas that will leave you a big note of happiness and satisfaction.

Given the choices we have out so far for 2019, i would reckon princess silver is the one that i've enjoyed the most thus far! So it is definitely worthy to invest good time and effort to watch it.

The way this drama is shot, from the scenery, sets, soundtrack which were sung by the leads themselves, costumes and of course, the actors are stunningly beautiful. If you are looking for a good romance aspect to the drama, this one has it, but in terms of chemistry between the characters, it is a little more muted as compared to a good chemistry pair up between the leads like that in ashes of love.

If you like untouchable lovers, you'll be able to stomach princess silver. It has similar vibes except that this one has a more consistent flow to the narrative. There's a lot of background that comes in flashbacks for the lead, so you need to be patient for it to come to a rounded conclusion. I do think they did quite a good job of keeping the storyline as tightly knitted as it could get, and did not go off tangent very often, which tends to happen in long drawn dramas.

Overall, i would rate this as one of my top 3 favourite dramas i've managed to catch since 2018. Will surely miss having this drama keep my company on my chill nights and i'm looking forward to more like that for this year!

The most amazing rollercoaster series

I’m telling you.
This is one of the best series I’ve ever watched
It will get you hooked, every scene is very important you won’t even skip episodes or skip 30 sec or so. You’ll cry your eyes and heart out you’ll think that this series is so unfair (the things that are happening..I don’t want to spoil) but you are still going to keep on watching it. Overall the love that they portray😭omg❤️They are just so perfect both the male and female lead...I recommend you watch this because you are not going to regret. I like the fact that the female lead is not weak like other female leads in other stories/series. She’s the boss and the male lead played his part so well including the other two males👌🏼Wow wow wow!

Just for Leo

Edited after completing the series.

Story:-
Totally disappointed after like 10+ eps on wards. I was enjoying it at first but then it went downhill like seriously boring right after the wedding ceremony. No exciting element as the story progress. Repetitive and cliche story plot. Example, how the leads misunderstand each other, who betray who, who sacrifice for who etc. I understand the 2nd ML wants to revenge but they didn't develop the plot well. The main love story is so draggy and boring. The FL always doesn't bother to listen to others and i just want to slap her face sometimes. The ML always comes out to rescue her out of nowhere and i was like girl i thought you know martial arts?! Why are you so weak? Most importantly they have no chemistry! I don't care anymore if they are together or not lol which is really bad considering they are the leads of a drama and i don't really feel them. They are suppose to portray as loving couple that can die for each other etc but their story doesn't convince me at all (At one point i just rather both of you die in the end). Towards the end, all those mystery starts to unfold although I have already guessed some but i appreciate the twist (at least not something cliche). It gets better especially when the story finally talks about Emperor Rong Qi (Leo Luo) arc. I watch this series because of him and his story with FL is much more interesting. I heard that the novel is great but when it change to drama, the execution is quite weak. Overall, minus all the unnecessary scenes to make it into 58 eps, it can be quite a strong plot with like 30 eps.

Acting/Cast:-
Acting wise is not that bad but the chemistry between the leads are seriously zero. They are just acting for the sake of acting. FL acting is a bit weak but maybe its the character problem. After like the first 10 eps of showing a strong and clever image, it just feel so plain after that (she is constantly crying and sad and depress all the time). Only until the later episodes it gets slightly better (as in she gets back smarter lol and not so depress anymore) Maybe she is too young for this character so she can't fully express the emotions? Idk And I can see the director is protecting her so much. Almost all the kiss scenes are camera work (Maybe like two is real and its just like a peck). ML is always that "cool face" whether he is fighting or thinking or looking at the FL or even crying. I totally doesn't feel his sadness. I basically just skips through his crying. I watched his performance in other dramas before and it wasn't this bad. I am not sure if it is the acting, the actor or the character itself but i am not feeling for the ML. He is the typical "i know everything" and save the world hero character that i got so fed up. He feels like a sub character more if it is not for the constant focus on him. 2nd ML (Fu Chou) is much better. His story, his acting and his emotions makes me sympathize with him but his character is so purposely made to love the FL just to be the main leads' obstacle. The progression of the story makes me feel doubtful that he love the FL so quickly based on that little interaction in the beginning. 3rd ML (Rong Qi) is definitely my favourite. His acting is superb, i can feel he is hurt just based on his eye expression. Sad thing is he gets too little screen time but his character is impactful and important to the story so i guess it is worth it? On a side note, i like the love story between Zhao Yun and Wu Yu. Their acting seems quite natural.

Music:-
At first not very obvious and didn't particularly like the songs but it started to grow on me as i watch. Particularly like the song for Fu Chou (心锁- 金润吉) and Rong Qi (離舟-蘇醒) character. I search for the lyrics and it applied so well to their character. Also like this 忘憂-張雪迎 (Sang by FL herself for her own character song)

Rewatch value:-
Only for Leo Luo's part. I confess that i am specially bias towards him haha xD Other than that, not at all.

Random: I find it funny that the characters always like to stab each other at the heart area lolol the ML and 2nd ML getting the most and at least once for a lot of the sub characters. Of course FL too.

Don't watch this if you don't want to ruin all other historical dramas for yourself!

This is one of my favourite dramas ever. It's amazing. I think the only reason why some people drop it or are put off of it is because it's long. But, in my opinion, every episode is amazing. The acting is amazing, the characters are great, the plot twists keep you engaged and the ost is beautiful. The most amazing thing is the costumes, the outfits are so spectacular that it makes costumes in other historical dramas look tacky. I've watched this drama three times and every time I notice new details. I've never found another drama that's impressed me as much as this one.

This drama portrays true love as well as the meaning of sacrifice and about trust.....

So I had just completed watching the movie Kung Fu Yoga and I was keen on watching more dramas starring Aarif Lee....Honestly I'm not a fan of historical dramas at all but this drama not only became my favorite historical drama but also one of my favorite chinese drama all together......

The story: The story was out of this world...No one would have expect such a detailed and sophisticated story(atleast I did not)....I'm not gonna give out many spoilers but a suggestion don't skip any episode...Trust me, if you skip even one episode you will be lost....This drama contains a lot of betrayal of trust....Till the last episode it is very hard, practically impossible to tell who is who, who are good and who are bad....We know Princess Rong Le lost her memory but the story of her memory will make you say "HOLY".....Won't give out any more spoilers....

Acting/Cast: The directors have done a great job by finding the perfect cast....many a times in dramas, you find that the actors don't fit the role but trust me in this drama everything was just in place and perfect....Zhang Xueying, Aarif Lee, Leo Luo, just perfect for this drama as the leads....I loved Leo Luo in Ashes of love...Didn't know he was in the drama but I was overjoyed when he was a part of the cast...All the other leads and the supporting cast also fit the roles perfectly...My favorite role was played by Huang Can Can as Chen Yu....

Music: This drama has some very pleasant music....The intro is no big....Just some soothing music but the song after every episode is so melodious and very addictive....Fun fact there are 3 ending songs which are played in sets of episode....But the song that played from ep 1 to ep 20 ig was my personal favorite....

Rewatch value: I know I gave 9.5 and not a 10 but that is because after watching it takes you a long time to digest what has happened...I saw this drama a week ago but am still not able digest the end of many of the characters(won't give out any spoilers)....It makes you not wanna rewatch but trust me after watching once, somewhere inside there will be a voice saying watch again....

Overall I just loved this drama very much...This drama has so much of life and such deep meaning....It is so worth your time....In the beginning, 58 episodes sounded too overwhelming but it was so worth watching...Especially during quarantine this drama was so worth watching....

Story: Great story that kept me on my toes. There were twists and turns and moments that genuinely surprised me. Almost everything wraps up in the end in a satisfying way. However, I did have issue with a certain a character death because it felt unnecessary.

Characters: All the leads are wonderful in this story. In particular, I want to point out the amazing acting of Jing Chao (Fu Chou). He brought such nuance and depth to this character that even though I didn't ship him with Rong Le, I was so enthralled with his performance that he became my favorite character. Surprisingly, I didn't get second lead syndrome either as his character has done plenty of things that makes it understandable for why RL doesn't fall for him. FC is a grey character--he is kind but because of his upbringing he is forced to do some terrible things. Ultimately, I couldn't help but pity him because he was a victim in the end.

The main lead, Prince Li (Aarif Rahman) also did a good job. However, I wasn't as interested in his character compared to FC since he seemed a bit too perfect. He was the typical male lead so there wasn't anything unique that stood out to me. That being said I shipped him and Rong Le since the beginning and so I was glad that I could root for them to be together.

Rong Le: She starts off the show being naive and innocent and grows into a capable, strong women. I admire that even after everything she has been though--betrayal, heartbreak, and lies-she still maintains her kindness.

Rong Qi: I don't have much to say about him. I pity him but because we didn't get his story until the end I wasn't as invested in his character.

Production: this show had beautiful production value 10/10--some of the scenes are gorgeous

OST: loved the OST especially since the main leads contributed to it. I love FC theme as it is both a beautiful song and the lyrics perfectly sums up his character.

UPDATE!!
I'm re-watching this drama for the 3rd time and I feel that we don't talk enough about how healthy the relationship between Rong Le and Wu You is. Putting aside the misunderstanding in the beginning, once they do get together they stay together. They don't let anyone/anything pull them apart. They both respect, listen to and trust one and other. I know people complain about the chemistry- I felt the same after I first watched the show, but I think this couple doesn't need to be making out all the time for us to understand the deep love they have. They are both truly good people and I love being able to root for them! I just finished a drama that tried to portray an abusive/toxic relationship as romantic, so that could be why I'm more appreciative towards the healthy relationship portrayed here.

THIS IS ALL OPINIONS.

I started watching this because it was recommended to me on YouTube. I stayed because of Leo Luo, who plays Rong Qi, and Jing Chao, who plays Fu Chou. Although Leo doesnt have a lot of screen time and his character has pretty much no character development, his acting skills makes me want to watch him more. He deserves more attention. Anyway, Jing is also a great actor. He character, put it nicely, isn’t the most likeable, but he makes me sympathize for his situation. This is my first time watching something of his and I’m definitely going to keep an eye out for more of his shows. Both him and Leo are great actors. Their expressions were so good!

Sophie Zhang, who plays Rong Le/Man Yao, does a decent job. I have to say, i think her crying scenes in the last couple of episodes are extremely heartbreaking. Like, seeing her cry after realizing that Rong Qi scarificed himself for her and they past together left me in tears.

Aarif Rahman, who plays Zongzheng Wu You, in my opinion, is the weakest actor among the main roles. I find his acting to be more rigid and awkward than the other leads, and by other leads, i mean Sophie because Leo and Jing are great. Some of his scenes whether supposed to be sweet or not, makes me feel uncomfortable. Again, it might just be me. Along with that, I don’t like his character at all. Although he claims to love Man Yao, he shames her in front of others, just when she was going to marry Fu Chou, by saying he had sex with her. I can’t express how mad I was when I watched that scene. I think he might be my least favorite in the whole show.

Man Yao and Wu You lacked a lot of chemistry. Their love story felt extremely forced, awkward, and unrealistic. Both parties hid so much from each other, kind of went out of their way to hurt the other, but still ended up “inseparable.” In the end, I was actually rooting for Man Yao to stay in the house that she used to spend time with Rong Qi in, and not return to Wu You. Which, even in other dramas— even when i favor the second lead— has never happened before. Their interactions are supposed to be cute and heartwarming e.g. holding hands as they go through so many obstacles, but it made me feel uncomfortable because the chemistry was just off.

Wu Yu’s love life was another reason why I decided to stay with the drama. His first relationship left me in tears— I’m a little bit of a crybaby— they both were so innocent and cute, i was rooting for them. When that didn’t go as planned, i was heartbroken. I’m glad that he found a new love, though. They are also very cute together.

Overall, I probably wouldn’t watch this again. The storyline is not great, along with the character development. It’s a shame that the leads’ performance was not as good as some of the supporting actors and actresses.

Storyline was wasted potential. Stayed for Rong Qi.

The first few episodes of this drama were refreshing and I was immediately hooked onto the characters but after a while the story went completely off rails which made it difficult for me to watch on because I got quite irritated. It felt like one moment I had a grasp of what was going on and then the next thing I know I get slapped in the face for assuming wrongly. The storyline is literally a series of plots badly sewn together. It was only towards the end did I start to enjoy the drama again. I've taken two things I'll remember from this drama and they'd be the wonderful architecture of the buildings used and Rongi Qi.....His actions were definitely questionable throughout the drama but overall he became my favourite character. As to say why I like his character well I don't want to spoil much so I'll it end it at that.
