Amor à Primeira Vista (2019)

"No drama" Dramas are very hard to do right - they tend to come across as boring. This one really showed how to meet the challenge. It was a simple, sweet story full of fun and light, with almost no angst at all. What made it work was the casting and the acting. The two leads especially really sold me on the story, and I lost count of the number of times I laughed out loud, then gushed "awww" at the sweetness.

The only reason I 'downgraded' this fine Drama to 8.5 is that it was a little too long. had it been somewhere between 25-30 episodes, I feel certain I would have given it a 10. As it is, it's still the second highest score I've given to any C Drama, and only the second to go over 7.5. A refreshing change from the current Korean obsession with the supernatural, psychopaths and serial killers - often all together. This one was an almost perfect confection.

A more mature, drawn out version of Love 020

Le Coup de Foudre follows two main couples for the first 2/3 of the show. The primary couple (Zhao Qiao Yi and Yan Mo) are stereotypical: caring but a bit clueless woman + the cold, ocpd and brilliant man. The secondary couple (Zhao Guanchao and Hao Wuyi) I found more interesting: a playboy who doesn't believe in marriage due to his abusive father + a confident, creative writer who has a huge romantic streak despite a lonely childhood.

How the main couple will come together is resolved early on, and their troubles are replaced by Yan Mo trying to start a corporation and the issues of Yan Mo's co-founder.

I lost my interest and the show fizzed out for me. The one saving grace of the show is the acting is excellent and naturalistic and that there are true to life problems and obstacles to conquer.

I grade on other criteria as well:

Complex Themes -4
The only real theme is healthy supportive relationships makes the ups and downs of life more bearable.
Character Growth -4
The only characters who show a bit of growth are the secondary couple - and even then their acting doesn't change much. They feel the same as they did in the first few episodes.
Nuanced Women -7
I really liked the friendship between the two main female characters, and I liked that the show depicted women with varying different dreams and goals.
Cinematography/Production Values - 5
It's competently done for the most part, but not at all cinematic. As one reviewer mentioned, there is a hazy tone over most of the scenes to denote nostalgia/the past. But since most of the story is set in the past, this choice was a strange one.

At first what really caught my eyes how beautiful the whole drama was directed and produced also, i thought it will only tell the love story between the two main leads it didn't actually the number of episodes were perfect for the story and it didn't feel rushed
I liked the other couples too they were all sweet and loved how the twins shared their feelings together
Actually it's second to best for me after a love so beautiful it was just so great drama
Also i liked that they didn't tell their school flashbacks for too long as i think it wasn't a school drama

Perspective review from someone who don't like youth drama

First of all, i'm gonna tell you all that i am not a fan of highschool/college drama. I dropped many youth drama, such as love 020, Go Go Squid, A Love So Beautiful, etc. So everytime i see people recommends this drama i was like 'meh'.
BUT--- after going through 'trial and error' finding my perfect drama, i decided to jump into this one, without no expectation at all.

Plot
The plot was superb ! As a non-fan of youth drama, i really like how they put the snippets from their future life in early episodes. It made me stay thoroughout the early plot of their highschool life, which is sometimes a little bit boring for me. Plus, knowing they're gonna ended up together save me from the pain of suspense when watching a drama.
The puppy love story in highschool was okay, but the only thing that really stands out for me is the FL family's dynamic. It's the kind of family that everyone hopes for, isn't it ? Being poor is suck, but having people that always stick with you no matter what circumstances is a real blessed in life.
The twins dynamic is also great. I like how they hug each other giving support, especially when the 'bad news' happens and the FL just automatically clung to her brother. It makes me really miss my brother :')

Acting/cast
I gotta admit that i'm not a big fan of Yan Mo at first. The poker face annoys me but then i realized it's just his character. In the latter episodes his expression grows and you can see how his lips curled slightly or how his eyes twitch when he's jealous. Other than him, i have no complaints about other casts. They act pretty well ! Especially Janice Wu ofc.

The soundtracks are good and well placed

The brother's plot arc near the end is a bit draggy for me. So many misunderstanding and miscommunication ! I just watched it 1.25x faster lol

Such a wholesome and heartwarming drama ♡ Great casting and screenplay !

This show has been in my wishlist since 2020, which was 2 years ago from now. I haven't seen most of the actors before so it took me a while to get around to watching it. When I saw the first epi, I realised I had seen the male lead in find yourself and his acting was quite good. I personally love highschool dramas a lot so i may be biased while writing this review but I adore this drama now that i have finished. From the background score to the casting to the way the characters have been portrayed and how they have evolved throughout the show deserves to be appreciated. The scenes have been acted out so well and the narration is great. A sweet simple lovestory yet so wholesome, I cannot put into words how full my heart is. I love how the story unfolds and the minutest details, the bond between the female lead, her brother, her bestfriend is beautiful. There is no second lead syndrome, the story focuses on the leads and how they manage through the ups and downs in their lives. The story throws light on everyone's life rather than just focusing on the leads which makes it enjoyable. It is supplied with just the right amount of humour. Barely any episode felt tiring, I enjoyed every episode. Definitely has become my comfort show because the last episode leaves you with a feeling of fulfilment and happiness as everything settles down. I recommend it to everyone who's looking for something light hearted.♥

If you haven't watched this drama but thinking to, then let me help you. Don't think just go watch this drama.

I went completely blind into this drama not knowing the plot or what to expect. Fellow drama lovers recommended and I had time to spare. And once I was done with this, (binged watched in 2 days) I loved loved loved this one.
I don't know how to explain. The plot is pretty normal and mundane which you have heard countless times, but there is something refreshing about this drama. Maybe because its based on the real life love story of the author. May be thats why is so realistic and makes me also feel the love and experience it through the screen.
I normally don't write reviews. But I really had to do one for this one. Also I would recommend to read the novel. And English adaptation is available on Wattpad if you search 'I Don't Like the World, I Only Like You'.

Just finished watching this drama yesterday and all I can say is I love everthing about it! I was only searching for good cdrama when I stumbled upon this page, and almost everybody said it was really great. The rating convinced me even more to start watching it. There's not even a single character I hate; they have their own charm. Wu Qian and Zhang Yu Jian are so charming together; Yanmo always acts cool and looks like he doesnt care about anything besides studying but when it comes to Qiaoyi, she is his priority. Not to mention Qiaoyi and Guanchao are definitely sibling goals, her friendship with Wuyi is friendship goals, and her relationship with Yanmo is life goals.

The pain of that damn 6 years when they separated is real. They have liked each other since high school but didnt have the chance to confess. I was so happy to know right from the start that they got married! Le Coup de Foudre teaches us about family, friendship, love, and life. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DRAMA! Definitely one of the best cdramas I've ever watched <3

Have you ever wondered what a self-contradicting drama would be like? A mature, immature, funny, tear-jerking, lovable and heart-breaking drama; This is what Le Coup de Foudre is like. I have seen Janice Wu act in several dramas and I am immune to her charm. For some reasons, her characters no matter what she plays, don't get through me. Except for THIS! She absolutely nailed that innocent-but-not dumb character effortlessly (or as it seems).

The storyline is very typical. The drama revolves around the love story of the smartest guy in the class and his dumb seatmate. But the beauty is not the in plot, but in the lovely characters, their lines, the lessons, the feelings it brings. It gave me memories that don't even belong to me. Each character has so many colors and layers, they are very distinct yet I found myself relating to them, as if their happiness and pain were my own. The characters made me laughed, wept, fell in love, broke my heart and fell in love all over again like I was experiencing them for the very firs time.

Most of all, the drama is a rare treasure box filled with precious and valuable lessons. It smartly addressed taboo topics such as bullying, domestic violence, divorce, abortion and family issues not to change our views but to bring awareness. They are not excessive nor impolite, they are just there like a part of the story yet they would find their way into your heart

THIS DRAMA REALLY REALLY GOOD!! MUST WATCH!!

I LOVE ZHAO GUANCHAO AND HAO WUYI STORY SO MUCH.. THEY HAVE BEEN THROUGH ALL FOR BEING TOGETHER AT THE END!!! I HOPE NEXT THEY WILL HAVE ANOTHER DRAMA TOGETHER AS LEAD, I WILL WAITING UNTIL THAT HAPPEN!!

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS DRAMA IS MA LI'S DEBUT, BECAUSE OH MAN, SHE IS REALLY GOOD, I WILL ROOT FOR YOU... AND ZHAO ZHI WEI SO HANDSOME.. I LIKE THEIR CHEMISTRY TOGETHER (EVEN BEHIND THE SCENE THEY LOOK SO GOOD).

I MUST SAY THANKS TO ZHAO CHAO, IF HE DIDN'T APPEARED ON WUYI AND GUANCHAO RELATIONSHIP, GUANCHAO WON'T REALIZED HIS DEEP FEELING FOR WUYI...

I actually don't know if I have the right words to describe this drama. Lemme just say one word: real.
This story is one of the best I've watched, since the start til the end, everything is amazing. I can say that til episode 20-27 everything was depressing. Yes, this drama is depressing for various episodes. It has made me cry a lot, and the feelings that it made me feel...oh, so real. Above all, I loved the female lead's family. Such a supportive family, the parents and the brother (her twin!!) are amazing and love her unconditionally. The way her brother always put her and his family in the first place is just so beautiful to see. The most caring and selfless character. When I talk about selflessness, I think bout the main female too. She is for sure my favorite character, even though I had a lot of stress because of her mute ass (lol), she has such a pure heart. Gotta love her. The friendship between her and Wuyi (the best friend) was amazing too. Truly real friends.

About the main couple: they made me really angry at times, but I appreciated the fact that even that they were years without see each other, when they came back they had no sorrows and didn't let this affect their relationship.

One thing I really disliked about most the characters: the constantly lying. Oh my God, you gonna die if you try say the truth for once? There were a lot of times when they just couldn't say the truth at first and it dragged a lot and caused a lot of problems and UGHHH. Mad me mad.

Overall, loved that drama and I highly recommend to everyone. Go watch it ❤️

It's a perfect slice of life

It contained so many important life lessons! It's an amazing slice of life full of heartwarming moments in which you cry and laugh so much. Every character has so much depth and you learn so much from this drama. The romance not only of the main couple but of all the side couples was super cute!
The only downside is that the setting changes in an office romance for the second half where ironically there isn't much romance going on. The second couple shines more during those episodes. However the ending is perfect and all stories are eventually given the closures they deserve.
The female lead really knows how to act, in all the dramas I watched of her. The actor playing the brother also has amazing acting skills. The bonding between the siblings is one of the best ì have ever watched.

i died so much at all the fluffiness and chemistry between the two main leads and hyperventilate whenever romance sparks in the air for the couple. Once you get hooked on this drama, there is no way out. I have rewatched this more than 5 times and i am unable to move on to new dramas even after finishing all episodes. I love the couple so much, i swear. The ost for the drama opening too, damn. it’s even on my spotify top song for 2019 because i jam to it almost every single day. This is how much the drama has affected me. I swear i need a life right now.
