After the contest, Yu Ran helps an injured Ji Ye who is then harassed by the jealous Prince Baili Yin. Gui Chen comes to Ji Ye's aid but soon becomes another target of Baili Yin's. The three, Yu Ran, Gui Chen, and Ji Ye, become good friends, having shared near death experiences. Ji Ye and Gui Chen enter the Ji Palace for training.
