Just one word for this show - aaaaaargh
So. This show. Simply a disaster. The SFX are so lousy that they could be from the 90s. They remind me of "Mortal Kombat" (the 90s movie) and "Hercules - The Legendary Journeys" and that really shouldn't be the case for a TV program that was shot in 2018 (!). The script is just horrible. The similarities to the book are just about there. Instead of ghosts we have aliens (WTF) and of course they tried to completely suppress the whole LGBTQ love story. The episodes are sometimes so damn amateurishly written that it's just embarrassing and so are most of the supporting actors. Many are seriously lousy. Whether it's the really abysmal acting of Xin Peng, who spoils Guo or Ming Tingliu - just awful. Jiang Mingyang (Chu Shuzhi) is the only one who isn't a complete embarrassment, and then there are Zhu Yilong and Ba Yu, thank heavens. Those two are really the only reason I am still watching this show at all. Truly bloody amazing actors, very good chemistry and they somehow manage to bypass the script and still get the book across., which is quite a feat It's pretty clear that the crappy script wants to hammer in that the Shen Wei and Zhao Yun Lan are just friends, but Zhu Yilong and Ba Yu don't play along with that. When Shen Wei grabs his heart with a longing and pained expression on his face after having the chance to touch Zhao Yun Lan in episode 7? THAT certainly wasn't in the script. Guardian absolutely does not deserve the two main leads. I already know that the ending of the book was completely ruined, so I'll probably drop the show after episode 17/ 18, but I still don't regret watching it simply because the two leads are so good.So, yeah. If the book had received the same treatment as "Word of Honor" then this show could be truly legendary but as it is, it is only legendary for being a fuck-up.

Easy to watch!
I came to this series after watching the already legendary 'The Untamed' and with the amazing Yu Bai as Zhao Yunlan and Zhu Yilong as Shen Wei, it's wonderfully simple to get into this (in my opinion) underrated series! The lead roles are super attractive and likeable people in general and their supporting cast are incredible as well (my hats off to the adorable Xin Ping for portraying the equally adorable Guo!). I'm still in the middle of the series, but I can see where things need some work story wise. The pacing is done fairly well and the obvious relationships are drool worthy, but I suppose there could've been a couple of more episodes to flesh certain things out. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this series if you love cute lead actors, the obviously covered up BL romantic couples but still amazing relationships and adventure! :DEsta resenha foi útil para você?
Los contras:
- La serie me ha gustado mucho, pero en ocasiones estaba deseando terminar para ver qué iba a pasar.
- en general los efectos especiales estaban muy bien, aunque había algunas veces que podían haberlos omitido, porque no eran muy buenos la verdad (como cuando el Shen Wei de hace 10.000 años cae bajo tierra con su hermano Yu Zen...)
Los pros (y son muchos)
- es una serie de ciencia ficción, pero cuya trama central no es la ciencia ficción, sino la familia, la amistad, el amor. El desarrollo de los personajes está bien hecho.
- la química que hay entre los dos personajes principales es increíble. Incluso con la censura china y que apenas pueden tocarse, cada momento que están juntos se puede percibir perfectamente el amor que se tienen el uno por el otro. Los dos actores lo hacen fenomenal, pero me quedo con la actuación de Zhu Yi Long. Su personaje no tiene que hablar para mostrar sus sentimientos, con una mirada es más que suficiente. Me gustaría verle en otros papeles, si la duración de sus shows no me echa para atrás, claro.
La música es fantástica. No comprendo prácticamente nada de chino, pero da igual, la OST está ya en mi móvil.
Rewatch value: no creo que la vuelva a ver. No porque no sea buena, todo lo contrario. Sino porque para mi es muy larga. Pero seguro que volveré a ver algunas partes o escenas que me gustaron mucho.
A pesar de la duración, es muy buena. No lo dudéis, porque merece la pena.

- Los actores y su magnífica interpretación. Tanto Yu Bai como Zhu Yi Long hacen un magnífico trabajo. Es increible que con la miradas transmitan lo que no pueden decir con palabras. Fue un descubrimiento de ambos actores con este drama.
- La música y las letras de las canciones. Además hay una canción cantada por los protagonistas que es preciosa.
- Las partes cómicas que tiene.
- El bromance. En la novela no es bromance, pero tuvieron que inventarlo para salvar la censura china. A mi juicio está muy bien llevado y como los actores lo hacen tan bien, para mí lo cuento como punto positivo.
Puntos negativos:
- La historia. En líneas generales sigue la misma que la de la novela, pero en vez de cosas del inframundo, tenemos extraterrestres. Para mí, es algo que estropeó la serie porque la llevaron a puntos que no había por dónde salvarla. Y de nuevo lo hicieron para salvar la censura. Una verdadera lástima.
- Los efectos especiales. Podrían estar mucho mejor, pero para mí tienen menos importancia que lo de la historia en sí.

Three words: Gay. As. Fuck.
Trust me, try it. The screenwriters have never heard of pacing, the secondary charas' acting can be awful at time, the cgi is weirdly focused on thiccness, suspense is there only because you never know which level of Dumb Reaction the plot will aim for and their hitter dresses like a fabulous emo teen; the overall show isn't *good*, at least one (1) wig is a crime against wigness according to the friend who gleefully dragged me down this hell, but you'll have the time of your life. If only for the many, many indecent things Bai Yu does to/with lollipops, Zhao Yunlan's bride hair and the sheer commitment to make every scene as gay as possible the main actors share. Also that Kitchen scene. And that Kneeling scene. And that Books scene.
