Senhorita Hammurabi Episode 2
First Trial
Cha Oh Reum attends her first trial with Im Ba Reun and Han Se Sang. Unlike Se Sang who witnesses all sorts of crazy chaos regarding civil cases and appeals, Cha Oh Reum remembers the people’s heartrending pleas and becomes teary-eyed. Senhorita Hammurabi Episode 2 Reações
Sir, even after 20 years it's still hard to listen.
Chief Judge Han Se Sang: How are we going to figure out who's telling the truth? The one with the evidence wins, and the other one loses. The restaurant owner still refuses to apologize, and that woman is demanding a ton of money to get back at him. They're equally bad!
Park Cha Oh Reum: Sir. How can you say they're equally bad? Whoever that's more responsible should receive a bigger punishment. Can only those who have done nothing wrong bring others to justice?
Chief Judge Han Se Sang: How can a newbie talk back to me like this?
Park Cha Oh Reum: We have to figure out who's more responsible, sir. Who do you think will benefit if we don't? Wouldn't it be those who are really at fault.. and don't even feel guilty about it? Don't jerks like them act like they're victims whenever they spot any flaws in the real victims? Sir. Is it our duty to persuade people like them to settle? Even little kids know that those who wronged others must be punished. Isn't it our duty to make a just, fair judgement?
Im Ba Reun: Enough. Judge Park.
Chief Judge Han Se Sang: You said even little kids know how important justice is. Then what kind of evidence will you try to obtain?
Park Cha Oh Reum: Those involved in the case must know the truth.
Chief Judge Han Se Sang: So you're going to question them? You know that they're out to get each other!
Park Cha Oh Reum: I'm not confident, sir. But regardless of the result, I'd like to try my best until the end. I think it's wrong to just follow the protocol and make a decision for formality's sake.
Chief Judge Han Se Sang: For formality's sake.. So you'd like to brandish your sword of justice. then you should. But we don't know who will be stabbed by that sword of yours.
Im Ba Reun (Thinking): I'm going crazy here. Everyone in this department has anger management issues.
