HIStory: Fique Longe de Mim (2017)

The overall score of this film for me is 7, which in MDL is technically "I like it" which is really true, I mean I watched the entire movie, never did I skipped a single scene, and I do encourage everyone to check this BL out. But if you check out my other reviews, I usually give good high scores, so 7 is a little bit of a low score for me even if in MDL it's essentially an ok score, as it's the I like it score. Let me explain why I gave this movie only a score of 7, I have nothing against Duke and Edison, I mean these are really two cute and gorgeous actors. With that said, my issue is in the casting. I personally don't think that they have a chemistry. I'm just not feelin' it. If I said that I think they have chemistry, that will be lying. Again there is nothing wrong with Duke and Edison, it's just that they are not clicking together. My suggested solution to this reality really is for Duke and Edison to do more acting workshops together, in that way both of them will be more used to each other, and this will translate to better chemistry and their acting skills will improve, as they are giving me a very stiff performance. I think the director should have picked up on this more, by giving the actors more rehearsals, and more acting training. Stay Away from Me has a challenging theme, they essentially become step brothers, and step brothers falling in love with each other is one of the common BL plots, so basically the job of the actors is to convince us that they truly love each other, and that their BL film will provide a fresh new approach to this common recurring theme. I think the writing and plot lines should have given the actors more room, so they can tackle their roles and give more life to their characters. These are major issues that totally have a film wide impact. As for the music and the fan made music videos that I've seen in other sites, I think its beautiful. I mean these edited videos showed the potentials of the movie as Stay Away from Me has an interesting plot, but the thing is, the movie has structural issues that prevented it to fully give its viewers a satisfying experience. Again, the two actors are very good looking, it's just that they need more time in rehearsals and acting workshops and I personally think they'll be fine. I do believe that in their future movies, they will become more seasoned and more experience, and as an actor they will grow as they gain more experience and exposure in their acting career. This was my last story from HIstory 1 and I liked but not loved it. I think it's not fair to compare them to the other ones since each one has a different plot and situation.

Cheng Qing is a famous drama actor but he's still studying at highschool and trying to get good grades. Fen He is a really focused and responsible student and this two boys get to meet by chance but later they found out that their parents got married so they are sort of brothers from now on. CQ moves to live with FH while their parents are on their honeymoon, but feelings start to get in the way.

I think this story was sweet and slow. We really see the conflict that FH has if he start to like his famous step brother and CQ also start to feel things after his stepbrother's rudeness. They have really good scenes together and I personally tgink the actors delivered good performances.

Still it doesn't have the intensity or the drama of the previous stories so this is a simpler one. I liked Meng Meng, the fujoshi friend because I think I am a lot like her myself.... (I don't write fics but I love BL dramas) so it's cool. Overall I enjoyed this last one even though I wanted to see a proper kiss scene.

Not the first time I saw this kind of story, it’s been like a hundred times lol. But no matter how many the stories would come after this, I think I’m gonna still watching it.

My problem is, the actor itself I didn’t feel any connection amongst them. If we talked about how good Feng He was, of course He is but when we saw the chemistry with Cheng Qing is quite awful actually.

However, a plus point came from Meng Meng. I always adore a fujoshi that created a story that seems impossible become a real one. A double thumbs for her and certainly her performance!

2 done, more to go! I’ll finish all of the History franchise! woo hoo

Sometimes, there are really best friend that too goofy. But, what if they hurt you, can you forgive her?

The short series that belong to a trilogy is simple, meaningful and heartfelt.

Simple because it shows a character in a form of a best friend, who will do anything to please us.
Meaningful in a way that reflects the realities of life.
And heartfelt because in the end, even if you hurt your best friend, sometimes, be grateful you well, without him, you can't really understand your feelings for the person you loved.

I like the settings of the House of the lead roles. Modern stroke interior suitable for bachelors/students. The story, just fine.

Let me start off by saying I wish this was longer. At only four episodes, each twenty-ish minutes long, it's not a lot of bang for your buck. However, the actors did a good job conveying what they needed to in the short episodes. I did want more out of this because of that. It had potential to be really good if there were even four more episodes. The character development and love line would have greatly benefited from more screen time. Meng Meng is honestly a blessing. She is every BL lover on this planet, shipping her little heart out, and I loved her character to bits. All in all, a fun little watch, but definitely wished it was longer.

Story: step-brother trope, simple and easy to fall into. Honestly, I disliked the use of the female best friend who creates waves. It was obvious from the beginning that this was her entire role in the series which was irritating. Very little character development, but a lot of slow budding romance. A bit of both worlds (one is irritating to see and the other is what I really want to see).

Acting/Cast: While I like the cast, I didn't like the acting. I felt like it was slightly sub-par. Perhaps it had something to do with the lines and the story itself instead of the actors. The two male actors felt closed off to me for some scenes and that was probably the biggest aspect that bothered me.

Romance between step-siblings is a theme that I can bear to watch. A drama that has such theme can also be my new favorite drama. However, I feel that there is something lacking in this drama for it to become one of my favorites. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel that the chemistry between the actors was kinda off at times. Thankfully, this does not greatly affect my watching experience.

Allow me to rant for a short while about Meng Meng. What she was thinking while writing the love letter from Feng He to Cheng Qing? What made her think that she truly knows the feelings between the two step-brothers? She may not have the intention to ruin the relationship between the step-brothers, but what made her think that it was okay to intervene? Her way of supporting/shipping the step-brothers bothers me a bit.

Would I rewatch this drama again? Yes, but only if I have no better things to do and I have watched the other dramas that are better and more worthy to rewatch (in my opinion).

Short and Sweet

The acting in this was so intense, I could have mistaken this for a real life story. Never have I believed a panic moment more than when Feng He closed the door on Cheng Qing. That was real, I don't care what you all say.

Story - Having them meet randomly before actually meeting officially made the impact of that panic reaction by Feng He all the more potent. Feng he was literally perfect and everything he did was out of love mainly for his mother and her happiness, but later on for his own. The moment when he was arguing with himself while thinking about the situation he is in. I felt it, his confusion, his anger, his concern for what his mom would think, his worry about what his new dad might think. It was all so real as he sat and Cried at the table. When Cheng couldn't take it anymore and made up his mind and left a note (that they didn't do subtitles for :( ) I could feel the anguish of both characters. The friend Meng needed a lil few taps upside her head though. Why would you complicate things between them, because you living in a fantasy, I'm happy they both decided to forgive you but seeing Feng He face as he walked alone in the rain. I wanted to yell at you for them.

Acting - I think I made it clear already that the acting was spot on by these wonderful blokes. They literally made me want to hug them when they hurt and cheer when they had their little moments. For example that bike incident was not that serious, but the way he held him made it perfect. Especially since he tried to play it cool when he realised. Even the girl did an awesome job.

Music - The music was pretty basic, it helped to set the mode but didn't add to my emotion. This isn't necessarily bad, so I still was okay with it.

Might be the most underwhelming out of the History parts, still really entertaining tho

Pretty sure this was the history part with the least action, I still really enjoyed it though.

I loved how the two leads slowly (within the two episodes they had) developed feelings for each other and changed their views towards each other. Nothing really big happened we just saw to characters falling in love under “unusual circumstances” and each of them dealing with it in their own way.
I really liked both actors and to me their chemistry was definitely tangible.

The end could have been a little more “exciting” it still felt nice though and I did not feel like I wasted any time on this.
