My one and only problem with this drama was that the soundtrack consisted of only two ridiculously overused songs. I first started watching Personal Taste because the summary gave me the impression of a happy-go-lucky drama that would probably lack plot, but be hilarious. It's not that at all, the characters all have interesting back-stories to them giving it the overall theme of how love affects people and the importance of blind trust. Unlike most dramas, I found the character's reactions much more reasonable. Overall, I think it's a must see and found it very lighthearted at first. The relationship progression between the two characters were well produced.

So Meh!!

The summary of this show was right up my alley. The story of a misunderstanding wherein hijinks ensue but alas it was not the case or I misinterpreted, whatever...

Like a lot of people I watched because of Lee Min-ho but this is his worst role to date from the ones that I have seen. I felt like he was just going thru the motions. If sighing could be personified, Lee Min-Ho's sighs should have been paid. I felt like he did more sighing that dialogue!!!! This was the firts show I watched staring Son Ye Jin and she was good as Gae In but the character is so annoying and unbelievably naïve. I'll have to look at her back catalog.

There is so much to unpack plotwise but here is the basics: The story centers on Jin Ho pretending to be gay to get inside Gae In's house b/c it is the inspiration for a new architectural project. This project pits Jin Ho nd Chang Ryul at odds. Chung Ryul used to date Gae In but he broke her heart when he cheated on her with her one of her bestfriends and LIVE-IN roommate, In Hee who he also planned to marry without saying a word. Jin Ho moves in with Gae in and he helps her get over Chang Ryul while falling for her but he is the biggest jerk on the planet most days and Gae In behaves like a child most days. We are supposed to root for these two but the relationship is so tiresome.

The things I liked about the show were the character of Director Choi (played fantastically by Ryu Seung Ryong) and Yoeng Seon, Gae In's other bestfriend. Practically every other character got on my nerves to no end especially, Yun Sup the father of Chang Ryul so terrible and irritating. I couldn't watch this again if you paid me.

I started watching this drama because of the great reviews and the story sounded interesting. However I was disappointed with almost everything about this drama. It was annoying and choppy. There wasn't much flow to this drama. One moment everything would be good and then all hell would break loose, it was like there wasn't any inbetween. The naivety and stupidity of the main girl Park Kae In annoyed me to no end. I constantly wanted to punch her. Although I didn't like the main guy either, I will say that I enjoyed seeing Lee Min Ho playing a more mature character. He has come along way since BBF.
Even though I didn't like this drama, I can see how it has appeal to others. Especially if you're into the whole 'love can happen in any situation' kind of story.

I can't say I will recommend this to anyone based on my experience but you're more then welcome to give it a shot and see for yourself if you agree or disagree with me.

Happy Watching Everyone :)

Personal Preference was an enjoyable and entertaining watch. A major plus is the great casting for this drama. Everyone delivered something to the table and made the story more pleasant. It is definitely worth a watch for Lee Min Ho fans, his acting has been newly polished as he plays a much mature role compared to his Boys Over Flower role, Gu Joon Pyo. The plot is engaging, but it was quite predictable. If you are like me you will probably lose interest as Personal Preference chugs along, but I somehow held out till the end. There were parts that made me laugh, cringe in irritation, and broke my heart, but in the end, everything fell into place and it was a happy ending... And yet I was left feeling unsatisfied and discontent.

Personal Taste was my first drama and it’s the reason why I’m still watching dramas and also the reason of my interest in Korean music. It was very enjoyable and fun to watch. After watching many (not actually) it’s still my favorite one.

It’s mixing of romantic comedy and melodrama. I laughed a lot while watching it and I felt very sad too. First few episodes are incredibly funny and after that it becomes sadder and more mature. I enjoyed every moments of it.

Acting/Casting is the best thing about this drama. Before starting this drama I didn't know who is Lee Min Ho, I knew only about Son Ye Jin and actor performing Director Choi. Son Ye Jin is great as always. I expected great performance from her and she gave it!! Who said she is annoying?? I didn’t find her annoying a bit or maybe I don’t know the meaning of annoying. In my view Park Kae In was the best character of the drama; she is heart of the drama. Without her this drama is nothing.
I loved friendship between Jo Eun Ji and Jung Sung Hwa, it was great fun to watch them. Other supporting cast is also good especially Kim In Hee, her character is really powerful and makes you to hate her.
And finally Lee Min Ho, he was very good.

Music of Personal Taste is the reason, why I started watching it. Music is really great!! It fits this drama very well. Almost every track is great and instrumentals are in my favorite playlist.

I’ve already seen this drama twice and one of two dramas that I watched again.

I admit some parts are boring but overall it was a great drama, a must watch!!

I have to admit that the beginning was a bit boring so I stopped watching it but when most of my friends have watched Personal Taste and were talking about how romantic and funny it was, I decided to start watching again. Indeed, they were right! I certainly laughed and cried throughout the drama. It's one of the best I've seen in 2010. I certainly squealed and got overly dramatic over many parts of the drama. I was definitely at the edge of my seat every time the episode ended. This drama is so cute and I loved every minute of it! THIS DRAMA GETS 5 STARS ✯✯✯✯✯!! I loved the ending. This drama is definitely a MUST SEE!!! ENJOY~

When I started to watch this drama I suddenly remembered another Colombian serie called "Ellos las prefieren brutas". It was so much alike that at first I though it was a copie from Personal Taste. It was exactly the same until episode 6 or so. Neither of them was memorable, but just until there it was more or less ok. From there, I don't know what the screenwriters were thinking but it was boring, illogical and with sooooo many tropes... So, if you have ulterior motives to watch this (Lee Min Hoo?) you can watch until episode 6, the last 15 minutes or so of episode 10 (perhaps the "Game over" scene could be the most memorable in all the show) and the last episode if you need to know what happens at the end.
The rest is not necessary. The role of the second leads is soooo flat... They are 2D, no development nor coherence at all and their stories are boring too.

Acting: I decided to watch it for Lee Min Ho (though I have to admit that I can't think of him as a good actor after having seen him at least 4 times already). He could have done much better. I think he was slightly better than in Heirs, but anyway, his role was boring. I didn't like very much neither the female lead, her role was too childish, she cries a lot and on the other hand, how is it possible that she works with so dangerous tools but she is not capable of picking a broken cup without cutting herself a finger?? Incomprehensible!

Music: I didn't remember, so I suppose it wasn't memorable.
Rewatch: as I saw before in another review for this drama in MDL, why would I do that to myself?
The better in one word: the house Sanggojae.

'Personal Taste' is my 2nd Korean drama. I read its synopsis and felt it was worth giving this series a try. It was pretty enjoyable. The comedy is light and not exaggerated. A few remarkable scenes made me giggle, and I clearly remember, I cried twice. The cast is good. Son Ye Jin, Lee Min Ho, Kim Ji Suk and Wang Ji Hye fit their respective roles. Han Chang Ryul (Kim Ji Suk) is supposed to be hated as he is the antagonist but I liked him instead as towards the end, I developed a soft spot for him regardless of the fact that he made the protagonists suffer. I liked the character Park Gae In (Son Ye Jin) because I could somewhat relate myself to her- clumsy and being taken advantage of. Lee Min Ho's good looks are a treat for the girls. Initially, the drama kept me hooked and I was like 'I wanna watch the next episode NOW' but midway, it lost its charm though not completely. But basically, I didn't feel the urge to move on to the next episode and complete it in one single day if I could as I felt during the first few episodes. I wanted to see the ending (though I somewhat had an idea as to how the ending would be) and that's why continued watching it despite feeling utterly bored and annoyed during some parts. I would say I was not completely satisfied with how the drama ended. There were many things I expected to happen in the concluding episode but they didn't happen.

This drama series has a few good soundtracks. I like 'Can't Believe It' by Younha the most.

On a side note, I would like to say a few things regarding the outfits of the actors. The ladies were well dressed as per their character. I especially liked Wang Ji Hye's hairstyle. But the problem seemed to lie with the men- Lee Min Ho's slightly-above-the-knee length coat looked kind of weird if you ask me. I don't know if that's the fashion among the men in Korea but whatever; I didn't like it. Also he carried this handbag while going to his office which made him look girly. I couldn't help but notice this. Talking about Kim Ji Suk, his coat and pants occasionally had funny color combination. Like in one episode, he wore a black coat and red pants!

Overall, this is a good watch if you are a rom-com fan. It has a good story line, a bunch of funny moments to make you smile and moments which will make you go 'awww'. However, I don't think I will re-watch it.

I have no business rating this drama so high given how much of a mess it was, but my friends can attest that the past 3 days that I spent binge watching this roller coaster have been some of the most entertaining days of my life. The drama is exactly what it said it was - a man pretends to be gay in order to live with a woman in a house that his architecture company has a great interest in. The comedy in this drama was absolutely phenomenal, and I spent so many episodes wheezing, laughing out loud, squealing, and pacing my room because of the emotions that I felt watching this drama. At the time, I could not understand why it got such a low rating, however the drama does indeed lose traction somewhere around episode 11 after the leads confessed their feelings and decided to be together. What followed was just an absolute mess of a conclusion with miscommunication in every episode - my greatest personal pet peeve. My opinion of the drama drastically changed after that, however I still cannot deny that this drama has one of the most interesting concepts if you overlook the obligatory 2010 cliches. If you’re the type who can easily drop a drama, then consider watching the first 10 episodes only, as nothing much happens after that would warrant a drama that long.

This show was untolerable. The girl was annoying, childish, weak and stupid. She was supposed to be 27 but she acted 10 and she looked 40! And she was sloppy and she made stupid grimaces.
And the "game over" kiss was a total waste since from the kiss their relationship shut down instead of moved forward. She wouldn't even let him in her house after that, and she supposedly loved him. It's just plain dumb and imature. Maybe for 12 year olds watching drama this would be something worth liking. A waste of time!

Frustrating

The premise was cliche but I gave it a chance. Lee Min Ho missed an oportunity to have a bit of fun with it the by looking grumpy and bored all the time. The female lead was annoying at times but some of the funny bits where she thinks hes gay came from her efforts. I had more fun with the frienship between her friend and his friend, pretending to be Min Hos boyfriend. By the time the two leads became a couple the whole thing became unbearable. He becomes a jerk and possessive boyfriend and she is the same annoying girl from before. I had to drop it. Each episode made me angrier. I hate the cold, distant male lead and the clumsy and doormat female lead. Dont ever want to see that combination in another drama EVER!

Personal Taste is one of the most romantic dramas I’ve ever seen; however, it’s far from being the best. This show had so much potential and could have been very good if only it were much shorter.

One strength its strengths lies in its characters. The main and the supporting characters are very likable, and the villain(ess) is truly hateful. At first, I really disliked the female lead as she is incredibly pathetic and has no self-respect; however, she grew on me after a while. The personalities of the hero and heroine are a stark contrast with each other, but because of the situations, you'll understand why they fall in love (unlike some dramas that will bewilder you how a very handsome guy suddenly falls in love with a plain girl).

Because it starts out rather slow, it will not completely engage you right away even though it has a promising story and some hilarious moments. As the story progresses, the thrill heightens. Then suddenly all that excitement grinds to a halt after episode 10. Then a series of wearisome, overly dramatic episodes follow.

The ending is ok but could have been better. It would also have been more delightful if it had stayed lighthearted all throughout, but Korean dramas usually follow a formula where after episode 12, the characters have a fight or a misunderstanding and have to separate no matter how contrived the conflict is. Despite all my complaints about this series, I’m giving it a high rewatch value for episodes 3-10; I really liked these episodes and have watched them a few times over the years. On the whole, it is still a good drama that is worth watching.
