It's about a transfer student Na-Mi (Shim Eun-Kyeong) who comes from a small town in Jeolla Province to her new school in the capital city of Seoul. She is nervous, her small town dialect comes out and she is bullied by others. Coming to her help are a group of girls Choon-Hwa (Kang So-Ra)who is known for her strong sense of loyalty and fighting skills, Jang-Mi (Kim Min-Young) who only wish is to have plastic surgery to get double eye-lids, Jin-Hee (Park Jin-Joo)who excels at spewing profanity, Geum-Ok (Lee Yeon-Kyung) whose biggest interest is literature, Bok-Hee (Kim Seon-Kyeong) who only dreams of one day becoming Ms. Korea and Su-Ji (Min Hyo-Rin) who is always arrogant and the girls pretty face mascot. Na-Mi quickly becomes part of their group.
This movie is mostly a reflection of what 25 years of life can do to you and the power of friendship. It's a walk on memory lane. You will feel touched by the acting of the younger cast as much as the older one. I did not except this movie to be about older woman when I read the synopsis. But there's nothing that I have to complain about with this movie, it's just like the title a "sunny" movie.
So if you are looking to walk down memory lane with a smile on your face. This is a must and you may learn a things or two about treasuring your friends.

The flashbacks and transitions between present and past were perfect and left me longing for the days where we were carefree and happy with dreams and passions eager to grow up. Those were and are the best days of our lives and this movie portrayed it perfectly.
The feeling of new starts, new friendships, parents, first loves, wild days all come back to you (or you can relate if you are that age) and the fact that life is short hold on and cherish all the good in it and let nothing go to waste.
The acting, cast music and story are all a 10 for me perfectly done I had no criticisms.
I encourage you to watch this film and I hope you fall in love the same way I have.

PROS
- The themes are so well done and leave a memorable impression due to the significance to actual life
- Wonderfully crafted story that takes place in the present as well as the past
- There's a lot of purpose and care in each of the characters
- For how dense the drama is, there is actually a lot of great comedy to balance the emotional toll
CONS
- Don't read much about the movie's story; it's best to go in without knowing much
- Due to the masterful writing, Sunny isn't an emotional drain, but you WILL likely be moved to tears (so, don't try to act tough)
__________________________________________________
Friendships, memories, regrets, and promises are all themes that are so very important. Pondering and reflecting upon them is sometimes a challenging circumstance that we don't see until it's too late.
Sunny not only demonstrates these in a beautiful and entertaining way, but it also paints a visual representation for even more complex emotions (like grief, heartbreak, or even acceptance and closure).
There are very few films that go beyond emotionally moving me. This movie was a healthy event that I didn't know I needed. Now, I feel inspired and eager to ACTUALLY live my best life and carry those dear to me along the way.
9.5/10

Ok first of all the acting was great. I liked the switching between the younger characters and the older characters. Also the song choices were legendary.
I loved the characters because they were so unique and relatable. They were all different people and you could tell who was who.
Overall this movie is great, it gave me severe nostalgia and it made me happy and sad. It made me cry and laugh. This movie shows that friends will always be friends.

I'm the type of person who doesn't usually tear up/cries during sad dramas/film (for ex. Koizora. It was touching & I love it but people find it weird that I didn't cry at all like many others did "/) Anyways, this was a funny, heartwarming, tearjerker type of movie. Not your typical cliche tearjerkers about romance. This whole movie is all about friendship. But just like most Korean dramas/movies, there's always at least one tragic part where someone dies.
Not sure what else to say since the description pretty much says what the whole movie is about.

Story: To be very honest, it's nothing special. You've probably seen similar stories in many, many East Asian dramas and movies. The execution, too, was typical for your average Asian nostalgia movie. But you already knew that, and that's the beauty of these stories. They are timeless classics, and combined with the sharp writing of this one, it makes a great movie. I could make a movie 20 years from now with the same damn story, but it would still be extremely relatable.
Acting/Cast: Wonderful. All of the characters shined in their own way, bringing their characters to life. I can't find one character, even the side ones, that did a half-hearted job. I'm not a huge fan of Kang So Ra, but I think she really did her character, Ha Chun Hwa, justice here. The adult characters were an absolute delight; I LOVED the camaraderie they had even after 25 years of separation, like they had just parted ways yesterday. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
Music: The music is from the 80s, which I personally think was a great time for music everywhere in the world. The music selection of the movie was masterfully done, showcasing truly some of the best songs from the era. Song placements were incredible, too- like when the two gangs were fighting with each other in the midst of the protestors and the police, the music in the background was HILARIOUS! The titular song, Sunny, was as emotional as it was heartbreaking, elevating the emotion in the movie. I can listen to it over and over again.
Rewatch value: This was a purely personal take. Since I relate so much to the movie, it is always going to be a comfort watch for me. I WILL cry everytime something sad happens (especially during the last few scenes) and I WILL laugh everytime something funny happens (like, say, whenever the grandmother comes on screen). Hence, the high rating.
Overall: Even if you have only one friend, I would watch this movie. The takeaway is something you can always resonate with: life is too short, keep friends close and follow your dreams.

This is one of the movies you watch if you want to look back on the good times. A big part of the story was realizing how the memories they all had contributed to the happiest times of their life and I think that's really beautiful. There tends to be different interpretations of this movie for different people, but for those who have valued their childhood friendships, I can definitely say you'll get to relate to this on a deeper level.
I also think that how they portrayed their characters would be something you can also relate to. Sometimes we tend to forget our identity as fondly as we knew of it during our youth, and this movie reminds us that we should still remember a part of ourselves in our daily lives.
Sunny gives us the reminder that in life, sometimes the best savored moments were when we had our youth and had nothing - a blank canvass which you can color on each memory you collect.
Watch it, and pass it on to your friends. They'd appreciate the gesture! :)

This movie made me cry, laugh and fall in love. My theory of each girl
Suji- she had mommy issues her step mother was trying too hard and she felt replaced, by 2 country girls, IM Nami and her step mom. Both really pretty but she was used to being the prettiest and the center of attention. But she finally broke down with Nami because Nami killed her with kindness...
Nami- she loved her life as an adult but that wonder if she had married her first love if she would have been an artist was still there. she like a lot of us got lost in marriage and children. Money meant a lot when she walked into the school with them specs, but it didnt mean shit when she could have about anything she wanted.
The Leader Ms Ha- she kept her word and looked out for all of them it was almost like she knew she would die first, I just wish Suji would have been written in the movie as an adult sooner.
Bok Hee- how dreams fall so quickly for some of us, her baby was clearly special needs and she went from beauty to bullshit. But was still a good person,
Geum ok- she was a nut, she learned how to channel her anger and see where it got her? she was better off with that big stick
Jing-hee....we cant be adults and get what we want cursing like a sailor, but it makes me wonder if we change on the surface are we still who we were as children on the inside?
This became my favorite movie in 1 watch I watched it 4 times this week. I remembered friendships I had has a child and made me remember promises I made. Life is too short. Go watch this now whistledick

Oh how this movie makes you want to go back to your high school years. Watching this made me nostalgic for a childhood I never had. Loved the comedic side but also cherished the sad moments as well. I love how realistic it was in the sense that not everyone had a great future after school. Also wished they found their #6 friend before the funeral so they could reunite fully. The different renditions of cyndi were my fav, I also looked up the Korean songs played and they are a BOP
Music: 10/10
Choreography ahaha 10/10

Friendship rules!
Honestly, at the first part with visiting the friend in hospital already set it up to be a sad movie, which I wanted to avoid because I came for comedy and friendship which the reviews were boasting about. The first roughly thirty minutes weren't that funny but I was still interesting to watch for the story unfolding and once it progresses to seeing how the girl's dynamics are with each other, the fights, the swearing and the dancing— it's all just really good and fun and heartwarming. They added a bit of romance which of course, this is Korean after all but it didn't take away any focus from the girls and I did end up feeling quite envious of their friendship near the end. There were many scenes I like to rewatch but to rewatch it entirely would be too hard with how sad the end was😭Esta resenha foi útil para você?
