Totally watching this for Li Ge Yang in a male lead role FINALLY.

As other reviewers have already mentioned, the flow of the drama itself is a bit messy and choppy. I sort of expected that going in since the episodes are only 30 minutes. So I wasn't surprised. The transition between memories (i.e. when they're in high school) vs. the current day in college also gets a little fuzzy. There were times when I wasn't sure where I was in the timeline until I caught on to the uniforms in high school.

One thing I did like is that it's made clear that Luo Yan has liked Fang Li since he first met her, BUT because he was what 15? at the time he didn't quite know what to do with the feelings so he resorted to bullying. That's nothing new either IRL or dramaworld. I don't like that trope, but I can forgive Li Ge Yang just about anything.

Speaking of, I loved the drama because of him. All of the insanity and miscommunication and frustrations aside, he is ADORABLE as always. And it's high-time he got to be the ML. Only he could have made me love Luo Yan so much. All the angsty, YA yearning for love that he goes through, this drama just had all the feels. And Luo Yan finally figured himself out at the end and was able to communicate his feelings, so yay. And there's kissing, which I've been hoping for since I first met Li Ge Yang in "The Love Equations," so that made me super happy.

The FL is silly and ridiculous but wears it in a pretty cute way. I don't always like her, but that's normal for me with the Chinese female leads. She is actually a little bit aggressive towards him too, which I liked since most Chinese FL usually take a very passive approach. Her dream of their first official kiss as a couple is so cute because he breaks it off to tell her that her phone is ringing and she simply yanks him down for another kiss. It was just in her dream, but still, it shows where her head is it and passivity really isn't her nature.

The OST is super fun. Apart from "The Brightest Star in the Sky" this series probably has my favorite OST in a Chinese drama. It just fits the characters and the story so well.

Would I rewatch? Yes. Probably not the whole thing, but favorite scenes yes. And if VIKI ever subs it, then I will rewatch the whole series because I am dying for better subtitles than what Amazon Prime dishes out.

Overall, super cute with some storytelling flaws that in the long run I didn't care about one whit. Because it's Li Ge Yang and I couldn't stop smiling. We'll see how it ends and I'll update my review if it needs it.

so many issues of consent going on here

*~* Completion Update *~*

Okay, I finished it. And I stopped hating it maybe at about the 7th episode mark? But I still don't love it, through no fault of the actors. I just don't like horny ghost girl for too much of the drama. Who in their right mind thinks they're not reincarnating because they've never had sex? That's absurd and just, no, on so many levels. And I hated the sous-chef, Rain. Oh my gosh, how can one man be that horrible and chauvinistic?! It was fun to see Suam in this drama since I couldn't stand him in "Switch On" but thought his acting was way better here. So there were some pluses. It helped once there were some confessions that happened and there were some consequences that happened. Ghost Girl toned it down a bit once she actually fell in love with Artit, and ironically, that tamed her behavior a little bit. Go figure. So the changes in some destructive behavioral patterns and actual consequences helped a lot which is why my rating went up. However, the story will always be too similar to "Let's Fight, Ghost" and like I said below, "Let's Fight, Ghost" is superior in every way.

*~* Original Review *~*

Umm, so many issues with this drama. Just the very concept of this drama has so many problems concerning consent. Now, I fall in the middle where consent in dramas is concerned. I usually have no issues with stolen kisses. Probably because a neighbor boy stole my first kiss when we were both 9, so yeah, it happens. BUT, I have issues with a ghost possessing an UNWILLING host to use that host for sex. That's a big red flag in my book. This ghost also has no respect for personal space or someone telling her NO when she gets grabby. I just almost can't. The only reason I'm continuing to watch is because I actually like the Jiw, the human girl. At least, I did, up until the end of episode 7 when she essentially gives horny ghost girl permission to possess her for the whole sex thing. I'm not holding out a whole lot of hope that this drama is going to improve much. I will finish it because I must know how it ends and how much or little I should hate it.

But take my advice. Watch "Let's Fight, Ghost," instead. All Jeen does is try to steal a couple of kisses from Off, that's really the only serious question of consent in the whole drama where the leads are concerned. And it's stinking cute. Naturally, because the ML is SaintSup and he's AWESOME. "Oh My Ghost" is torture in comparison.

too adorable for words

I can't even begin to describe the sheer amount of squeeing this movie brought on. So many reasons to love it, but the first and most important is the slightly nerdy performance of Kento Yamazaki as the ML. He's adorable with his quirky smile and his head full of unruly hair and his ferocious determination to befriend this girl who can't remember him one week from the next. It's neat that the story isn't necessarily a romance. I mean, I get that he's in love with her, but at the same time, friendship plays a really big role in the story. So the romance is almost easily missed, but that's okay because it's just so stinking ADORABLE. I wish I could just have "One Week Friends" set on repeat and do nothing else for an entire day! Anyway, if you haven't watched it, do! If there's one potential flaw it's that we don't really see a lot of what's being written in the exchange diary. I can live with that!
