my list of all the Xianxia and Wuxia i have seen. this can just also be historical drama or costume dramas.

This list includes Chinese, Korean, and Japanese dramas and movies.

My terms:

  • Chinese Historical = set in ancient times without magical and or fantasy elements coming from China.
  • Chinese Historical Fantasy = set in ancient times with magical and or fantasy elements coming from China.
  • Chinese Republican = set in China during the Republican time (between 1912 and 1949)
  • Wuxia = set in a fantasy world where magical elements and/or mythical creatures appear.
  • Xianxia = set in a fantasy world where magical elements and/or mythical creatures appear and where people or beings can be gods.

  • Korean Historical = set in ancient times without magical and or fantasy elements coming from South-Korea.
  • Korean Historical Fantasy = set in ancient times with magical and or fantasy elements coming from South-Korea.

  • Japanese Historical = set in ancient times without magical and or fantasy elements coming from Japan.
  • Japanese Historical Fantasy = set in ancient times with magical and or fantasy elements coming from Japan.
